Universal has released the teaser trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s Hellboy II: The Golden Army. Watch it now below.

Official Plot Synopsis: After an ancient truce existing between humankind and the invisible realm of the fantastic is broken, hell on Earth is ready to erupt. A ruthless leader who treads the world above and the one below defies his bloodline and awakens an unstoppable army of creatures. Now, it’s up to the planet’s toughest, roughest superhero to battle the merciless dictator and his marauders. He may be red. He may be horned. He may be misunderstood. But when you need the job done right, it’s time to call in Hellboy (Ron Perlman).

Along with his expanding team in the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense-pyrokinetic girlfriend Liz (Selma Blair), aquatic empath Abe (Doug Jones) and protoplasmic mystic Johann-the BPRD will travel between the surface strata and the unseen magical one, where creatures of fantasy become corporeal. And Hellboy, a creature of two worlds who’s accepted by neither, must choose between the life he knows and an unknown destiny that beckons him.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army hits theaters on July 11th, 2008.

    Come on, I love reading your opinion, good or bad, on trailers and movies Peter, but nothing?? I'm a HUGE Hellboy fan and you couldn't take 5 minutes to let us know what you think or your opinion or anything??? C'mon...
  • Bob: LOL, I was just trying to get the trailer up for you guys as fast as possible. I think this looks like it could be better than the first film. At least now they aren't having to conform to the X-Men style marketing. I think that Doug Jones' new character looks really cool. And the sequence at the end with the street being torn up looks very promising "Oh crap" indeed. What did you think?

    That's got to be the longest, and spoiler heavy, teaser I've seen. Like the new villain, cool style and voice.
    Can't wait to see this movie.

    Wow...I'm glad they put all the cards on the table and gave us a glimpse of a lot of different thins. I do believ that there is such a thing as TOO much viral marketing. Where you wait a month just to get a screen capture.

    Definately looks like it's going to top the first amd it also looks like GDT hasn't missed a step.

    So many things here to talk about, thanks for the upload Peter. GDT is an amazing director. I will definately be watching this.

    Aside from the cool looking Joker, and the high flying Ironman, this trailer just smashed all the other Comic movies in things to look forward to for me.
  • I couldn't be happier that Hellboy is back in the saddle, for so long it looked like a sequel would never happen. I also think that Del Toro just continues to get better and better as a filmmaker and a story-teller, so it'll be great to see what they have in store for us. This just might be better than the first one, which was lots of fun.

    The trailer was a bit odd though, I felt. Didn't feel like it was a sequal film. Seems like they just assumed that no one saw or knew of the first movie. I mean, HB isn't even shown until halfway through, and never named.

    And I thought from the leaked reports that this would have something to do with nursery rhyme characters coming to life and HB having to enter their world, which I felt would give HB plenty to quip about. This looked like just more hell demon monsters and smash, pow, explosion, bam kind of stuff.

    I'd much rather see GDT's take on Fairy Tale creatures than the usual regugitated Walt Disney stuff.

    Plus this is just the teaser. The second trailer will probably have more info on the film. All I know is that when GDt spins a web, your bound to get caught up in it.

    Nah, yeah. I loved the first HB. Whether or not this adheres to everything i might have expected, I'm sure I'll enjoy this one too. My main gripe was the way things were portrayed in this trailer.

    They shouldn't forget that their best asset in the Hell Boy movies is the HB character himself. They should use him to sell the movie, as opposed to the over-bloated cgi destruction sequences which saturate every other movie out there these days.

    Look at the Iron Man tease trailer in comparison. Delivers bangs, but also tells you a lot about who Stark is and gets you interested from a dramatic standpoint by the character (over-confident playboy turned cripple turned badass mechanical warrior).
  • The first Hellboy never interested me, but this looks great! Of course everyone loved Pan's Labyrinth, which was made for about $8 Million. This is at least $150.

  • I still don't understand the term "teaser", other than it's just a cock-tease of a trailer. I would definitely consider this a trailer. Bring on the Golden Army!

    The band is Rammstein, one of my favorites. It definitely put a big smile on my face hearing it. I can't think of the name of the song because the lyrics are all in german, and since I don't speak german, don't have a reference to remember the name. I believe it is on the album "Sennsucht", however.

    Hey, the song is call Mein Herz brennt. Its on the album called Mutter. I found it on iTunes cause I really liked the song. Hope it helps!!!!!

    He has a tendancy to use melodic metal in his hellboy movies and trailers, the last trailers music was Dimmu Borgir, progenies of the great apocalypse. Great songs in my opinion.
