I opened up my email this weekend and was greeted by a message from Todd Brown at Twitch, who wanted me to check out the movie trailer for a Japanese movie called Machine Girl. He assured me that this might be the cult film of next year, and judging by the trailer, he might be right.
The film features yakuza ninjas, flying guillotines, a drill bra, a Japanese teenage schoolgirl, and probably more blood than I’ve seen on screen this year in all the films combined. Seems like Planet Terror but more fun and bloodier.
Watch the trailer for Noboru Igushi’s new movie after the jump.
Machine Girl has a 2008 release date in Japan.

“tokyo shock” cinema already has a small cult following, i doubt this movie will find much of a following beyond the genre.

hope tarantino will be watching this,
he’s losing his touch in ‘death proof’

Looks like something Robert Rodriguez or Quentin Tarantino would direct…well, if you’re into that sort of thing I guess.

I am so tired of people ragging on “Death Proof”. It was a good movie, and paid homage to the grindhouse genre nicely (where they had no budget and had to fill up the scenes with dialogue to pad it out).
Sam: Are you in the US? Because if you are, you most certainly won’t be drinking GOOD beer.

(For the record, I’m not the same Sam that posted above)
I actually saw an edited version of this trailer on G4 just before I got on here. Ah, those crazy Japanese…
I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for this one!

Saw this the other day…LOVED IT! Not only was it great shock cinema but it was a LOT of fun. There were 5 of us and we cringed, laughed and cheered as each drop of fake blood splattered the camera, set, and actor. Yes, this film is exactly what you expected from the trailer. The acting was cheesy, the special effects mediochre(sp), and the action well choreographed enough to keep us all interested. I’m not one to watch a movie more then once in a week. It’s very rare that i do that. I watched this one twice in 2 days. The last time I did that was release weekend of Jurassic Park (in the theaters). Saw that one 3 times in 2 days.
Check out Machine Girl if you like Evil Dead or Planet Terror. just don’t look to deeply for a story line.

uncleBoogie, sorry it’s taken me so long to reply, but I do NOT drink bad beer. Just because it’s a 12 pack doesn’t mean it comes in a 12 pack. :) I’ve become a beer snob in my old (31 this month) age.
