Six new promotional photos featuring Christian Bale as Batman and Heath Ledger as The Joker, have leaked onto the interwebs. Sent to me by /Film reader Cameron H, these Dark Knight promo images give us a better preview at Ledger’s performance, and I’m still not sold on him.
Sure, Christopher Nolan won’t let me down, and I’m sure of that. And yes, Batman Begins was one of the best superhero movies of all time. But people seem to forget that it did have it’s third act problems, most of which involved the film’s villain Scarecrow. Let’s hope The Dark Knight doesn’t fall into the same trap. Check out more of the photos after the jump.

The lighting is harsh, but the pics still look good. Kudos to you Nolan.

I’d like to meet and beat the sh** out of whoever designed this look for the Joker. After decades of comics, cartoons, and Jack Nicholson, who actually believes that this version will be accepted by the hardcore fans? We don’t want our beloved characters “reimagined” or otherwise f***ed with. We want them brought to life on film, period.
Hollywood needs an enema.

Heath & Nolan will deliver…not 1 doubt in my mind. It will be nice to read all the boards next summer when all the naysaying will be put to rest.

The Joker played by Jack Nicholson was re-imagined and from the sound of it, everyone liked it. The Joker was never shot in the face and scarred with a permanent grin in the comics. He simply fell in chemicals which bleached his skin white and his hair green. I think the Joker pics above look pretty damn evil and I like it.

I love how people complain about a departure of the joker’s look when the only difference really is the longer hair and the scarred smile (which beats a perma-smile if you ask me).

i love the pictures but the contrast suks,,,,i love the joker pics but it has that sinister style of joker into the pictures…..really captures the style of the joker……plus the batsuit is smokin cool…..but the production photos blow…..p.s….TDK IS 2008!!!!

Comics are constantly being ‘re-imagined´. The Joker, especially. His origin wasn´t revealed for a long time after his introduction, and it’s been changed a number of times. As said in the Killing Joke, “I prefer multiple pasts”.
As for Pete complaining about Nolan messing with the comics, maybe he missed that Burton had the Joker kill Batman’s parents, and that the Nicholson Joker was old and portly as opposed to, say, every representation of him in the comics. By the way, the Joker´s actually supposed to be scary too.

The oh-so-white background doesn’t do the costume design any justice, but they both look damn good; the Joker especially.
Calm down, bat-fanboys. It’s always the same complaints. Save the rants till after the movie screens.

LOL, nerds! Can’t believe they get on here and gripe about the way the Joker looks. Makes me laugh…..they are really mad! HAHHAHAH This is why Nolan didn’t make the Joker like the comic book, or like Jack Nicholson…..IT’S BECAUSE IT HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE!!!! PEOPLE WILL WANT A DIFFERENT TYPE OF CHARACTER! But, with the same qualities! Nerds…LOL

In response to Mike saying “By the way, the Joker´s actually supposed to be scary too.” That’s all Nolan’s Joker is scary. The other side of him his sense of humor: the more important side is non existent

In response to Rusty, how do you know he hasd no sense of humor. His only dialogue any of us has heard are a few sentences in a trailer.

You guys are all crazy… BAtman BEgins was the best batman movie to date, thanks to Nolan & Bale. It’s been the closest thing realated to the comics, with enough realism to attract those who aren’t even fans…. JOKER LOOKS GREAT!!! & lets all stop compairing him to JACK NIC… because tha was a Joker completely inspired by Ceasar Romeros Joker in the OLD ASS SLAPHAPPY BATMAN SHOW!!! Tha’s no where related to the Graphic Novels of the DARK KNIGHT, and by far SUPER CHEEZY!!!
BIG UP’s TO HEATH!!!!

Oh dear… so little faith in the director who made a bat-film that wasn’t a straight out comic book movie, made the characters seem real and set the tone perfectly. Ledger looks phenominal! In the old comics the joker just didn’t fit in with the other characters, his dimensions were out of whack, the smile and chin were just so long and drawn. It was freaky, like he didn’t quite occupy the same universe. Ledger looks demonic, the way the Joker should, and he’s got chops… so chill out boys and girls. I’m sure it’ll be a great continuation, even if it doesn’t fulfil every last hope and desire. S

Joker may look good, but sounds kinda whiny from what I have heard so Far, hopefully that will pass.
But after seeing the first one I would imagine this should be just as good, if not better.

Missed the pics here, but looking forward to the film. Been a Batman fan since I was a kid (30 years ago) and have seen more variations in costumes and such than I can count, so the re-invention in the way the characters and the equipment look doesn’t bother me. IMO, Bale is the best yet at being Batman, though I think I liked Keaton better as Wayne. I don’t think Bale and Nolan have the core character down well, though. For a guy who watched his parents get shot to death, Bale’s Batman has unbelievably little regard for property damage and how many innocents might get killed while he’s doing stuff like bouncing the Batmobile across the rooftops of Gotham.
