Last week we told you that McG has supposedly signed on to direct Terminator 4. Today Ain’tItCool is reporting a rumor that Christian Bale has been cast as John Connor in Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins. What are the chances of this being true? I’ve been a long supporter of McG. With a good producer to wrangle him in, he can make a fun movie, I’m sure of that. If this is true, Bale would immediately gives the project more credibility in the fanboy circles.

Wow. Great choice if true.

Thumbs up to Bale. Thumbs and more down to McG.

I’d rather have Christian Bale doing obscure movies like the Machinist and more Batman sequels than wasting his time mugging in a 90-minute music video, er, Terminator sequel.

This is 100% B.S. As picky as Bale is with his film roles there is no possible way that there is any truth to this. B.S. Check your sources because I guarantee that it’s not true.

I agree with ronny, not true…
…BUT
IF true, it would be so effing awesome

CHUD just posted the same info and said they had the info last week as well, except Bale was pinned for the Terminator role, not John Connor.
Bale is picky, yes Ronny, but he makes choices that are outside the box all the time, with Reign of Fire and Equilibrium. Obviously, Terminator 4 will prob have a larger budget than T3 (which sucked), so I don’t doubt this info. Bale wants to be A-List and rich, and the T franchise will provide the latter (his Batman contract isn’t on the level of a Cruise, Hanks or Depp).

yeah this is bs. christian bale is at the top of his game right now. he might not be pulling in as much money but his track record for the last 5 years is probably the strongest out of any actor in hollywood. Terminator just seems so whored out right now with the crappy lookin tv show, charlies angels director, and just the basic script of terminator 3. Christian bale wouldn’ t eff with it he is at the top of his game.

Well, I for one believe that it’s true. Too many sites are confirming and seconding this opinion and AICN just updated in the Talkbacks to confirm it for real with something like “Doubt all you want, you can take it to the bank.”
Man, you’d think people would be stoked on this news. Obviously, they’re trying to bring back the Terminator franchise to where it needs to be after the wink-wink nature of the 3rd one. McG isn’t the worst choice, and if Bale is sealed, obviously the script, imagery and vision are there (as well as $25 million). And with Bale signed, I’m guessing it’s going to be rated R for sure.
This is not bullshit. (Also does anyone know what happened to the “Recent Comments” that used to appear in the right margin of this site?)

What the hell are you supporting with McG? He hasnt made anything?!? You’re crazy. Wow. Might be the most ridiculous statement I’ve heard all year.

There aren’t enough fingers in the world to count how many times AICN has reported false news. Bale himself said in an article that after the Batman series, he’s done on blockbusters. With the third installment of the Dark Knight not even in production yet, why would he take on another franchise? Plus this film is way below him. He’s got three oscar caliber performances this year: Rescue Dawn, 3:10, and I’m Not There (not to mention many snubs in the past years). Plus, Carnahan’s Killing Pablo is scheduled to start filming soon. Why would any rising star attatch themselves to a film by a terrible director like McG and the crappy screenwriters who brought you Catwoman, Primeval and T3?

The DohDoh: Earlier this week /Film was linked by slashdot and a bunch of other huge high profile sites. We recieved the most amount of traffic we’ve ever seen, and our server couldn’t handle it. For the next few days we’ll remain in a “lite” mode until the traffic subsides, and we have a new design coming in the next couple weeks as well. But don’t worry, they will return.
