BumbleBee

Loyal /Film reader Nash Doud and his father purchased a 1975 Cheverolet Camaro in August, with hopes to “Transform” it into BumbleeBee from Michael Bay’s Transformers.

“We are still working on the car interior wise, but exterior wise the car looks pretty good.”

If the photo above is any indication, the project is coming along great. But if only the car could actually transform into a real-size robotic Bumblebee… Maybe some day. Check out more photos of the car going through various steps of transformation after the jump.

after completing that beautiful paint job why would he destroy it to make it look like bumblebee? great job really, but that seems like kind of a waste….

The love for classic cars and Transformers is a little more profound than the need for a nice paint job. Mash these two loves together and people will do crazy things…

  5. Gravatar

Hey man, car looks good! I’m in the process of making a bumblebee out of my 77 Camaro too. I was just wondering what size rims you decided on for the rear. 15×8’s or did you find 15×10’s somewhere? Also, did you tape off the stripes yourself or were you able to find the correct stencil kit? The only stencil kits I could find were a lot fatter. Thanks man!

Nice job on the bumble bee car. I like the yellow and was thinking of using it for my camaro. Which yellow did you use?

Beautiful job. NO, you did not ruin it, because if you hadn’t transformed it (no pun intended), then the car would just be another car show find. It wouldn’t stick out, except at a traffic light. But I have two questions:

    1. Isn’t the paint supposed to be a darker yellow and more faded? I’m not sure how to make paint faded, but I’m sure there’s some way.

    2. Also, what is that moonroof doing on the top? I don’t remember seeing that in the movie or on the hundreds of pictures I’ve seen on the Internet.

I’ve been in this car many times. It rocks. Case closed.
