I don’t know.. I was as excited as the next guy when the publicity machine was in full swing a few months back, but the shaky camera is going to get real old, real quick. The trailer was dizzying. I caught it before Beowulf this weekend and I was conflicted. Beyond sheer curiosity, the movie has lost a lot of its… appeal to me.

I love it how at the end it says 17-01-08.
Also towards the last thirty seconds when they are running through the street you hear a guy yell, it sounds dead on like Mike from the Blair Witch Project.
I have a lot of hope for this film, but if they die in a helicopter crash, I will seriously be upset.

The only way for this movie not to be a huge disappointment is if the monster is super cool. Right now, though, it looks like a run of the mill Godzilla, King Kong or large dinosaur thing. NOT ok.

The best way I can describe what I’m seeing between the two buildings is that it looks like a giant reptile head sliding through the city devouring the buildings. Sometimes it looks like it could be smoke and debris though.

Hasn’t anyone noticed there’s a shot of what looks like a woman screaming in horrible agony? And that her stomach is expanding, it’s not a upclose clear shot, it is behind a curtain. it’s before the scene inside of a store, where the room shakes and the monster roars. Anyone notice?

Hey, I think it’s animals attacking humans. The woman in the tent, looks to me like she’s being attacked by two bears. I also think that it’s giant bugs inside the tunnel. That’s kinda what I got from it. Who, knows?

Im not so sure about the animal/bugs attacking humans thing. I mean we dont need that especially not after The Mist. Not that it was a bad movie but we just dont need it. Besides, even if it isn’t Godzilla (hopefully) it has to be godzilla-like given the fact that it comes from the water; and I guess you can attribute the explosion of sorts in the beginning (before the military was there) to the “fire-breath” we kno godzilla had. And the shot between the 2 buildings resembles something reptillian. Im just hoping for something un-cliched but thats impossible for a “monster-that-attacks-metropolis” movie. Lets just pray they got real inventive on this project and have quality special effects to back it up.

First off, if you couldn’t tell, the girl that was expanding wasn’t being attacked by BEARS, are you kidding me?! They were obviously military officials in haz-mat suits. Comon, bears? lmao
And second, apparently this beast/monster/creature is absolutely huge.. how would it be chasing them in the subway tunnels underground if its so massive? Maybe, and this is just a maybe, it can either A: change size, B: Infect humans or C: spawn little terrifying killer babies.
Any input?

from what ive heard from people who shall remain nameless its suppose to be a dino-like creature from billions of years ago that was traped under water and lived off chems that are now inside the human body that come to life when this thing is near like a symbote( hintz the bio suits ) but this was from early in production maybe with all the hype its changed either way it will either be a hit or a flop hopeing hit

I dunno, its doubtful it will be anything resembling Godzilla, I got the impression it was some kind of blob like mass with tentacles, like a massive parasitic virus type lifeform. That would explain how it can throw things so far and possibly infect people, and maybe even explains how despite being underground you still get the impression the monster is following them with one of its appendages or something. Who knows, maybe we should all just watch the movie and find out lol. As for alien, it doesn’t seem particulary intelligent as it destroys the city to be a regular Hollywood alien, more like some messed up animal, violently thrashing around. Still looks promsing!

Ok I can agree on alot of it… It does look like Godzilla and it would kinda make sense if it was the baby Godzilla with the whole ending of Godzilla 1998 BUT if u watch the video it wouldnt make ANY SENSE that it is him… Godzilla wouldnt Be infecting ppl like that… The Girl Stomach explodes and it sounds like there are more than just that BIG thing running around in the movie… They r trying to make that part clear in the movie…
IDK, almost any idea is safe… EXCEPT FOR the whole Zombie thing, thats DUMB lol

the monster is actually the island MANHATTEN.6 reasons.1:when they say “its alive” they are talking about the island.2:in the beginning it has that thing saying multiple sightings of case designate”cloverfield BLAH BLAH BLAH in the end it says are formely known as central park. the word formely means it used to be there for other reason go to you tube and look for a title with manhatten in it you will fully understand go there now

It’s only semi-bipedal. The legs are much shorter than
the arms which have hands of uneven finger lengths,
(One finger/claw on both of the front hands is longer than the rest).
It seems to walk on it’s wrists. You dont see the face until about
the halfway point of the movie when the gang is fleeing
into the subway. It’s eyes (we only saw two) are
black, and on the sides of it’s head are membranous
sacs, that later in the movie, you get a very good look at.
It has teeth that interlock much like an crocodile.
It has a large tail with 3 fins on the end.
And about the subway…
These dog-sized creatures fall off of it near the start of the film,
and, in one of the scarier moments, chase/attack the gang.
The scene is prompted by Rob turning the Handycam’s
nightvision on for Hud. They have lots of legs, and have narrow heads. They make this horrible repetitive little noise that sounds alot like frenzy from the Transformers movie. They just go for the kill. No bullshit. They attack and keep on attacking.
Fans of the Halo series may see similarities between
it and the little flood scurriers. Only with lots of teeth.
And after they bite you…
