Warner Bros is set to announce the official cast for George Miller’s Justice League of America movie next week, but studio spies have leaked a supposed preview of what we should expect. Note: none of the following cast has been officially confirmed, and being late Friday night, it’s likely we won’t hear anything until Monday at earliest. But let’s take a look at the rumored cast of Justice League.
Scott Porter (Speed Racer, Friday Night Lights) is Superman. Created in 1932, Superman is considered to be the most famous comic book character of all time. Born on an alien planet called Kryton, Kal-El was sent to Earth moments before the planet’s destruction. Adopted and raised by a Kansas farmer and his wife, Clark Kent (earth name) was brought up with a strong moral compass. Upon reaching maturity Clark developed superhuman abilities including flight, speed, strength, stamina, durability, senses, intelligence, breath, and heat vision, later resolving to use these for the benefit of humanity. Justice League Superman is supposed to take place in a different continuity than the Bryan Singer and Richard Donner stories.
Adam Brody (The O.C., Thank You For Smoking) is Wally West aka The Flash. Justice League supposedly begins with the funeral of Barry Allen, the second Flash (1956-1986). His nephew (by marriage) Wally West was exposed to electrically charged chemicals at ten years old when he was visiting his uncle’s police laboratory. West donned a copy of his uncle’s outfit and became the young crime fighter named Kid Flash. After Barry Allen was killed, Wally took over as the fastest man alive. The Flash possesses “super-speed,” and superhuman reflexes which allow him to violate certain laws of physics. Wedding Crashers and Fred Claus helmer David Dobkin is signed on to direct a Flash feature film following production of Justice League.
Common (Smokin’ Aces, Wanted) is John Stewart aka The Green Lantern, who first appeared in July 1940. The Green Lantern possesses a power ring that gives him control over the physical world as long as the wielder has sufficient willpower and strength to wield it. Greg Berlanti (The Broken Hearts Club) is set to direct a feature film based on the character following the JLA movie. Berlanti is penning the script with Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green.
Teresa Palmer (Wolf Creek, The Grudge 2) as Talia Ghul - a recurring love interest for Batman. Her father, Ra’s al Ghul, the leader of a worldwide criminal empire, considers Batman the man most worthy to marry Talia and to become his heir. Not quite heroine, nor villainess Talia has undoubtedly committed criminal acts; but out of loyalty to her father and not for personal gain. She has also saved Batman’s life or helped him on numerous occasions.

If that’s Superman, this movie is garbage. His face is as smooth and dewy as a baby’s bottom. Common looks old enough to be their father. Palmer is young enough to be Bale’s daughter, yet she is JL Batman’s lover. So not only is JL Batman a paranoid git who creates Brother Eye, getting a teammate killed, but also a creepy chicken hawk.

I expected these guys to be part of the cast and have been sweating bullets waiting to here an announcement. Unlike a lot of the cry babies that wanted Christian Bale or Kate Beckinsale or Tom Welling or Ryan Reynolds or God knows who else, I like the look of the cast so far and I am bot optimistic and excited that this movie is going to happen. Its about time.

Hate to be the super geek that I am, but Hal Jordan was introduced in 1940. John Stewart didn’t come around until Marvel got into the blaxploitation of the 70’s (see Luke Cage, lol). Stewart appeared first in 1971. I think it is an important distinction because I know a lot of fans like Hal (mostly comic book readers) and a lot like John (mostly fans of the justice league show). I’m willing to bet they are going with Stewart because they are trying to bank off the show and also to save Hal for the GL movie.

Calm down Teen Titans remix. The film takes place in a continuity seperate from the Batman films. They’re casting younger actors as a hedge against them aging out of the roles too quickly if the film launches a multi-sequel franchise. So what if Common looks a little older than the others. Maybe its his character who takes on a mentor role to the rest. (After all, it stands to reason that a Green Lantern would have the most experience in working with a group of superpowered folk.)

I agree with Teen Titans remix about Superman. I just don’t see him as Supes. It’s almost like the kids of the OC are putting on a play.
I knew they were going to go young, but come on. Common certainly LOOKS the part - but can he play the part? What is Talia doing in this? Meh - I am getting very worried about this project.

I can see Scott Porter as Superman (with BLACK hair),Brody as Wally West Flash (with RED hair),and Artie Hammer as Batman (with BLACK hair),but Common as John Stewart,come on (pardon the pun)!! He’s too damn old looking,I’d rather have Tyreese Gibson. And get ridda that DAMNED earing and beard!! Josh Duhamel would still be great as Hal Jordan,IMO.

I think the made for TV movie of Batman is going to be better than this movie. This movie has CAMP written all over it. You’d think they could wait a few more years and wait for this performance animation to improve. That way they could give these larger than life characters thier due. They were never meant to be live action. Especially not as the JLA. Just another example of Hollywood having dollar signs in thier eyes.

Personality wise, the provided “prospective” cast members fit the roles of their on-screen heroes. Adam Brody is a smart ass. Common is calm and wise. Porter is serious. And Palmer always looks unsure. Sadly though, this movie is being made for the CW crowd. No big surprise there.

Well All I can say is that after MONTHS of waiting, and weeks of teasing with Tom Welling being cast, and then not cast, and then re-cast, and now we get this leaked cast from slashfilm.com which has been backed by other sites, and well to be honest folks IMO this cast is a total JOKE!
This movie looks like it’s going to be batha poodoo! To quote Star Wars one more time… “I have a bad feeling about this!”
After the total fuckup that was Superman Returns we get this!

Tom Welling is who the people want to see in the suit, and yet some how little tid bit of news fails to ring any bells over at the WB.

JLA Won’t even sniff Fantastic Four money or even X MEN 1, 2 or 3 money!
Marvel does things the right way, and it’s why I feel the WB will blow it again with this craptacular filled cast, and Miller will be taking his Happy Feet else where, and never near another Superman related project, and for that matter after this flop we probably won’t see another Superman related project in years.
Singer dug the grave, and Miller will now put the final nail in the coffin, and dump the dirt on these beloved characters.
Sometimes I wish that the family of the characters creator would win in their law suits, and would get all rights back, and maybe then one day from a REAL studio we might get a REAL Superman movie!
If this news is true then there are some dark times ahead for us Superman fans… At least we have 1 or 2 more years of Smallville to keep us happy, and the seasons on dvd so we could watch the real face to this generations live action SUPERMAN!

Not so sure about Brody being Flash. It’s too bad Michael Rosenbaum is already in smallsville, cuz i think he would be a great flash. He already does the voice for Flash in the cartoons.

I think like many other people have posted already that Tom Welling should have been superman. And for those of you who are in love with Smallville because Tom Welling is the next Superman - you haven’t been watching the last two seasons very well cuz they suck. Tom Welling - Clark Kent - has not demonstrated the Man of Steel one bit in the last two seasons because of a character that shouldn’t be on the show anymore (cough, cough LANA LANG). His portrayal of this Clark does not give me hope to how he would portray the REAL Superman.

Hal Jordan’s epic story deserves its place as the first Green Lantern movie. Some idiots started merchandizing the black green lantern because there’s no other black superheroe anywhere that’s worth a damn. But we Green Lantern fans want Hal Jordan’s story to be told first. Bad casting! Why hire a blonde to play Talia? Why not get someone with some ethnicity? I really hope that is the case with Wonder Woman, but probably won’t. I mean, what’s wrong with getting a Greek actress to play her role?
John Stewart GL is alright, but I would have preferred Hal Jordan with maybe John Stewart being a close friend who shares in his secret. (In the sequel, Hal dissappears and John uss the ring to find him or something.)
Christian Bale and Tom Welling in the same movie would have clinched it as a blockbuster success (at least if all else went well); I hate to say it, but I am not optimistic on this one.

You guys make me laugh! You are basing your assumptions off what these actors have previously done. There has been no script presented to the public, we have no idea what the plot is, and all you guys do is whine and make very rude comments about these actors when you have no idea.
I think Porter would do a fine job as Superman. He does an amazing job on Friday Night Lights so I think it is a great idea. Everyone wants Tom Welling, Tom Welling…I think Welling is great as Clark Kent, not as Superman as part of the JLA.
I am looking forward to this movie!! I am hoping the rumor about Porter being Superman is true.

So…..this is just rumor. Well,today’s November 13th,2007,and IESB.net said a month ago that TODAY the whole cast would be officially announced. I haven’t seen anything about that yet.
I STILL can’t believe they actually are using John as GL instead of Hal Jordan. And I assume it’s called Justice League instead of JLA:Justice League of America. Political Correctness strikes again.
Oh,yeah,Smallville sux. How can you Smallville fans even call your selves Superman fans? The show is Superman without Superman,no costume,no secret identity,no flying ability,and HUGE continuity errors. Say whay you will about SR,but at least it was similar to the Superman we know and love. Come to think of it,I only had 5 problems with the movie Superman Returns:
1.the kid. giving superman a bastard child is a stupid,Stupid,STUPID thing to do. it’s out of character and makes superman look like an ass. give him a kid,but at least let him be married first,providing you want to overlook the fact that superman is unable to have children with an ordinary human.
2.there should be NO CONNECTION to any previous superman film other than the fact that the the john william’s superman theme should ALWAYS be played at the beginning of the movie.
3.truth,justice,……all that stuff? nah. everyone knows it,so why not just stick with truth,justice,and the american way? Oh,yeah,it’s not PC…..jackasses. if you’re going to make everything all PC,don’t even make the movie at all. At least the comix still have it as truth,justice,and the american way.
4.ACTION!! I can always use MORE ACTION!! the only things that don’t need more action,IMO,are Transformers and Star Wars.
5.How about a villain OTHER than Lex Luthor? Like,one that Superman can hit and beat the crap out of that hasn’t been used yet. Braniac,Doomsday,Parasite,Metallo,Mongul,Darkseid,Kalibak,Toyman,Bizzaro,or even Lex Luthor in his kryptonite suit.
Hopefully the costumes will be right,like as close to the books as possible. Not peter pan tights,but not black plastic/rubber either. A nice compromise like the Spider-Man,SR,Fantastic 4 movie costumes would be great,IMO.

I don’t know if these people at the WB ever read the countless blogs, forums, and message boards on the net which all want Tom Welling to be Superman on the big screen… Why they constantly shit on the fans I don’t get it but this movie is a tragic mistake, and it will flop worse then Supergay Returns.
Keep fucking with the fans WB… We all saw what happens when you don’t listen to the fans… Remember BATMAN & ROBIN, CATWOMAN, and SUPERGAY RETURNS? Well this one is right there with them, and maybe even a bit worse since this cast is a fucking JOKE!

Just my 2 cents worth, but everyone RAVES about Alex Ross’ drawings of the JLA characters. If I recall correctly, Alex Ross used LIVE models for his work. Would it be THAT difficult to find these models and spend some time TRAINING them to act resonably well enough to pull off a GOOD JLA movie? And get the DC comic writers to work with the idiots at Hollywood to come up with a good credible story line.
In my opinion, only Spiderman and Batman (with Bale) have been made well, the best being Spiderman because above everything else, they have REMAINED TRUE TO THE COMIC BOOK - the costume, the villans, the life of Peter Parker. Batman Begins is close and it plays very well. Fantastic Four would be alright as well except for the fact that the storylines are sooooo lame.
Every other superhero movie has been a slap in the face to the fans. Chris Reeves must have been turning in his grave after Superman Returns. No offence to Brandon Routh, but he is more of Superboy than Superman. And Superman’s illegitemate kid? Big mistake, which from rumours I hear, is going to be corrected by having the kid killed in the sequel to SR. And for goodness sakes, Superman is a Super Peeping Tom spying on Lois? Whats he do on other days? Fly around the playboy mansion?
Do it right, or don’t do it at all and seriously I hope the WB people consider looking for Alex Ross’ models for the parts.

Well,killing the kid wouldn’t solve the fact that Superman had an adulterous affair,which is out of character in the first place,IMO,and in the second place,it wouldn’t solve the fact that in the comix,Superman is unable to have kids with someone who isn’t kryptonian (or super?) and they totally effed that on film. The best thing to do would be to do a reboot with Routh as Superman (sorry,I liked him),maybe comb his hair to the LEFT this time (I love those Curt Swan Superman stories,but Superman’s hair goes more to the left 90% of the time,and it looks best that way,IMO,perhaps that’s something they could do to the JLA movie’s Superman to help distinguish him from the SR Superman,other than recasting and changing the costume),start over with a completely new story without a dead actor plaing Jor El,and with NO ties to any previous incarnations of Superman on film other than using the amazing john williams’ Superman theme at the beggining of the film. It doesn’t have to be an origin story,it can instead just pick up somewhere in the middle or beginning of Superman’s career. Lex Lutor should be the corrupt business man/indstrialist with unlimited resources from the John Byrne comix and Superman and Justice League animated series. Superman should face a completely NEW villain,NOT Luthor again. Braniac,Mongul,Darkside,Parasite,Toyman,Mettalo,SOMEBODY we haven’t seen before that Superman can beat the crap out of and still be physically threatening to him WITHOUT the means of kryptonite. Or at least Lex in his kryptonite suit. Keep the status quo of the comix:Clark Kent works at the Daily Planet along with Lois,Jimmy,Perry,NO ONE else knows he’s Superman,and he’s atracted to Lois lane,who’s more impressed with Superman than she is Clark. That’s all there is to it. Keep it simple,keep what we know and love to be Superman from the comix in the film,but bring in new life threatening villains from the comics that will take the story in bold and exciting new directions. You don’t need to change the costumes,characters,give superman a bastard child or use old ideas. WB should really look to the episodes of Superman the animated series,like the ones with Darkside and Braniac,Luthor,and just about every other villain that appeared on the show. If they really want to explain Superman’s origin again and have a new villain,like Braniac,they could show some of what happened on Krypton regarding Brainac and Superman’s origin like the Superman animated series episodes Last son of Krypton parts 1-3 in flashback sequences in the middle of the film/close to the middle of the film. Those are awesome story ideas,IMO.
The costumes REALLY need to start being more respectful of the comix in the movies. I love the X-Men and Batman films,but the suits are HORRIBLE!!
They need the people who did the Spider-Man movie suit to do the costumes for JLA or someone who wants to keep the comic book look of the characters translated to screen successfully. They don’t have to be tights,but fer godsakes they shouldn’t be all black plastic/rubber either! Something authentic looking and comfortable and practical looking that’s like the comix suits. That means Batman should be in a black and gray (black cape,cowl,gloves,leotard,and boots,gray shirt and pants) bullet,flame,and shock proof (to a degree) suit,and Flash should have his gold wings/lightning bolt things on his ear/side of his head area,and gold boots with gold lighning on arms and waist area,and gold lightning logo over white circle across chest,and his cowl,shirt,pants,and gloves should all be red like the comix suit. You wanna add little rivets and little circle/ovally things engraded into the material of the costumes for a more sleek and mesh look,fine,just keep the look/color scheme like that of the comix. Martian Manhunter should look like his classic/Alex Ross incarnation:a 6′ 7′ green hairless green dude with a pronounced brow,NOT his current Sigourney Weaver style alien cone head and skrull chin and black,red and blue suit. Way to shit him up,DC! Now WB might go with that version over the MM that we all know and love cuz they think it’s hip and cool and modern or whatever. Hopefully not. And I could go on and on about what Superman,WW,GL,and Aquaman’s suits should look like,but I think you folks get the idea. WB needs to look to the comix style pictures by Alex Ross for what the suits should look like.
Do it right or don’t do it at all is my take on comic book movies.

Tom Welling doesn’t want to be Superman! The only reason he did Smallville is because he wouldn’t appear in the suit until the end. He doens’t want to be type cast like Christopher Reeve was. I think the only time we will get to see Tom Welling in the red cape will be the last episode of Smallville.

Adam Brody is actually being considerd for the role of Beast boy. And Common is also being considerd and they have auditioned Armie Hammer ,Zoe Kazan, and scott porter is actually being looked at for super boy.Not superman himself. Donta Storey is also being considered for the role of Teen Titan Cyborg. Currently they ahve 2 different scripts for the film and George Miller has signed on to direct. OK the cast is crap. thank god the production is halted due to the WG strike. Scott Porter says he hasn’t been cast as Superman and was actually auditioning for the Flash. The roll might suit him. Tom Welling doesn’t want to wear Supermans tights because he doesn’t want to be typecast? What a joke. Show some respect boy the role made you and guess what…TOO LATE. What would he rather be typecast as the boy from the show with 12 kids?
Here’s what they need to do:
Get Welling, Hell, get the rest of the future JL superheroes from Smallville. The WB seems to want to appeal to that young demographic anyway (look at the cast they picked). By the time the film comes out smallvilles final season will have already run.
If they can’t get Welling start from scratch. Get the characters who will be playing in the Batman VS Superman film. Hopefully Bale and Routh. Let them carry the cast of young fresh faces.
They need to go with the original characters. Hal Jordan and Barry Allen, and Not next gen crap. Although Barry Allen and Wally West’s characters were merged as one, Probably in Zero Hour. Same with jordan and Raynar
They need to fix their mistakes with superman returns. Thankfully singer won’t be back. He’s too busy.
They either have to ignore the mistakes he made and make a fresh new movie (hopefully one closer to the original comics) or move on with his mistakes. Which can be done. Lex is still rich and superman chucked the only proof he had against Lex into space. So there is nothing to convict Lex with but word of mouth. Let lex start building his empire. Make superman start fighting some alien enemys. They seem to think superman was the only alien.
After a few years of Superman, Batman, and JLA (including the superman vs batman) movies they could finally introduce Doomsday, accidently released from his tomb by Lex. He could rip the JLA to pieces and it could end with a short battle between superman and him. Then the next Superman movie could start with Doomsday waking up. The Battle continues. Superman and Doomsday die.
It ends with “a funeral for a friend”, the battered JLA carry the coffin through metropolis. Batman watches from atop a building. Lois crying at the grave. Mrs. Kent crying at home unable to be at her sons funeral lest she reveal his secret identity.
The next JLA starts with a world without Superman everyone is trying to pick up the slack. Crime increases. Lex is running for President and being controlled by brainiac.
The next Superman movie, Supermans bastard child takes up the role of superboy, lex has his own psychotic superman clone who he controls and beats everyday.
God how great the movies would be if the fans wrote the movies and not some hollywood half wits trying to appeal to exec. producers.

I’m not sure how true the Scott Porter Superboy thing is,it sounds like it it’s just speculation at this point,tho Wizard Magazine’s #1. choice for the role in the Teen Titans film is Scott Porter,so we’ll see. I personally don’t think Porter would be a good SuperMAN after seeing him act and in person,tho I think he’s a great guy.
I also think that DJ Cotrona would be a bad choice for Superman and so would Andy Whitfield. I hope they cast someone good.
So which Flash is Adam Brody playing? If Zoe Kazan’s plaing Iris West,then he is most SURELY playing Barry Allen. I here that Wally West is being played by Anton Yelchin? Is there any truth to that?

I have been a DC fan forever, and the JLA has always been my favorite super team. Let’s face it, they have the Gods of the comic book world as their roster. Everyone os correct in saying the suits suck and don’t listen to fans. This cast above is about as unappealing as it gets. Scott Porter as Supes…uh, NO, that could not suck any more unless he does the Christian Bale thing and packs on major pounds. Brody, eh, he’s OK as Flash, and whatever on the other two. Making GL WAY older than Superman though, I don’t get it. Really young casting works for Smallville, but for the movies…two words, Christopher Reeve. And why won’t Tom Welling do it…Oh forget it. This film sucks and it hasn’t even been made yet. Why don’t you just cast all the guys from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and call it a day.

I honestly have to say I’m slightly horrified. No, scratch that, the little comic geek inside me is wailing like a paid mourn with a $50 tucked in my belt. The casting is atrocious! I mean, just from the look of the actors - Their superman is a medium brunette? Talia Al’Gul is BLONDE? -and their acting histories - Brody has the most impressive sheet, and that’s because of a teen soap opera. Oh, that’s promising - I have the sinking feeling this movie’s going to be another case of ‘Star Wars: Episodes Bitchfest’. Good idea, beaten to death with crappy casting and mediocre scripts.

I’m no writer but Hal Jordan should at least have some JLA role before having a GL movie. And he should also do the whole last GL thing where he took all the GL’s rings and became a mean mofo. That would make for a great movie plot.

I think kel is 99.9% wrong about…well everything he said. The only problem with smallville is it’s place in time. As far as that goes who cares, would you rather be watching gilmore girls kel? Superman returns is perfectly fine because when luthor holds the solid piece of krytonite next to the boy he does not show any sign of being sick. The fact that a piece of kryptonite that size and that raw would have had a full grown caped wonder near death, and the boy simply shyed away, you could have gotten the same response from a spoon of peas. That showed the boy was not his. maybe they could have given lois a less comic book hero related husband too.

And it was said by producers that the kid was his,I think.
And in regards to your comments on the K,perhaps it has a different effect on him? Maybe instead of losing his powers around K,he gains them instead. Maybe green K gives him powers.

the reason why the kryptonite doesnt effect the boy in SR is because he is going to grow up to be some sort of Bizarro superman which is why he can throw the piano right after and then when him and lois are trapped he is weaker and cannot open the door. I also agree with most of the opinions of how hollywoods is fucking up JLA but who knows until we see it

I can totally see brody pulling off flash…alot of people shit bricks when they saw who was gonna be spiderman…Toby rocked it! Brody doesn’t have to be a a muscle head…with the flash’s ability..he would more than likely be thin and hyper!changing superman more then underware is pretty fucked up though

wow, people are so ready to hate this movie already. personally although i would have like an older looking actor to play superman if this movie is based on another universe then it really shouldnt matter how old the charcaters looks. as long as the plot is good and the fx blows us out of our seats i’ll be happy with it, oh and although i think common is a decent actor i thinkthe best choice for john stewart ould have been avery brooks( the captain from ds9, he can act and looks the part)

With the cast you have now, I think that Common would be to old. You need a man that has the look and body to feel the role. I think Tyson Beckford would feel the role perfect! And he’s in the age group too. What do you think? But if you want to target the “semi-rap” groupies, then he’s your MAN. Tell me what you think?? MB..out
