Evans

Who will play Superman in the new Justice League of America Movie? Our friends at Dark Horizons are now reporting a rumor that Rupert Evans might have nabbed the role in a London SoHo casting session three weeks ago.

The 30-year-old British actor is best known as rookie agent John Myers in Guillermo Del Toro’s Hellboy, although he has appeared in a few television movies and appeared in a couple tv guest spots. Evans graduated from the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art, and also has a background in theatre. His publicity materials list him as 5′10”, which is almost a half-foot shorter than the character’s traditional height. Brandon Routh is 6′3” and Christopher Reeve was 6′4”. He seems like a bad choice from where I’m sitting.

I don’t know much about him but I don’t like the guy being Superman.

The likelihood of this joke being true is less than Pam Anderson being Wonder Woman. Why repeat a joke rumor that you know is false? It’s just dumb.

And Hugh Jackman is about a foot taller than Wolverine.

big deal about the jackman/wolverine comparison.

you can always go bigger, ya can’t go smaller.

unless the rest of the cast are all about 5′4″…

I agree, the rest of the cast should be midgets.

Duh! This guy is SO not Superman. He’s TOO dang short among other things! I could see him as almost anyone other than Superman. Maybe Aquaman,John Jones,Maxwell Lord, even Flash or Batman, but definitely NOT Superman. REALLY BAD CHOICE!!!! He’s the right age tho.

    Midgets seconded!

Without Routh & Bale. This Franchise will be another Fantastic 4. A fucking childrens movie. Once this franchise bombs. I’m sure you’ll be able to find it in the toddler DVD section, right next to F4 at your local Walmart.

Dude, the F$ movies aren’t THAT bad. I personally enjoyed them. They’re MUCH better than most people give them credit for. The second one was the better of the 2,IMO,but if you’re not an FF fan, like me,then there’s nothing anyone could do to get you to enjoy those movies.

This guy is a completely and obviously RIDICULOUS choice. I can’t imagine ANYONE saying he’d be good as Superman. Superman, who is 6′4,weighs 225 lbs. and has a muscley physique. It’d be like getting Don Knotts to play him.

I know who should play him…….CHRISTOPHER REEVE! Aww…..TOO SOON. .’-)

    F4,I meant to say.

There is NO bright side to this casting choice, and it’s not like I’ve not tried to find one, either. this is soooooo outa left field, and in the bad way too.

you superman fanboys need to open your minds to the fact that this is more akin to an origin story. the character is supposed to be young and smaller than normal. are you seriously saying that the dude who plays superman in the tv show smallville looks tall and muscular? no, and that show has been on for years.

and to the people who say this is going to be a kiddie movie, you’re exactly right. who else would be interested in a justice league movie, outside of the fanboys? to market the movie any other way would be absurd. if it is anything like fantastic four, that would be great…because although I hated those movies due to the corny acting, terrible script, bad direction, etc…it made a lot of money that led to a half-way decent sequel. we can only hope that this movie does the same.

Umm, matt, dude, that smallville guy is 6′3 and built like a linebacker. Tall and muscular? Yeah. That’s why he’s in the role. Justice League Superman aint going to be “younger and smaller than normal” WTF? Where did you even come up with that idea dude? Nobody has said that. It don’t matter who eventually gets the role, the one thing you can count on is he aint gonna be short and scrawny. Seriously, WTF?
