Two New I Am Legend Movie Trailers

I Am Legend

Two new I Am Legend movie trailers are now online. First up is an international trailer. The new look is less mysterious, and more forthcoming. I liked it a little better the other way when less was more (check out that teaser trailer here).

The official domesticc trailer makes I Am Legend look a lot more like a kick ass sci-fi movie. I prefer the new US trailer, and I think you might as well. It’s more action packed and sharply edited to Clint Mansell’s awesome score from The Fountain. I’m probably more excited for this film, than any movie coming out in the rest of 2007 (that I haven’t yet seen).

Check out the new trailers below.

Robert Neville (Will Smith) is a brilliant scientist, but even he could not contain the terrible virus that was unstoppable, incurable, and man-made. Somehow immune, Neville is now the last human survivor in what is left of New York City and maybe the world. For three years, Neville has faithfully sent out daily radio messages, desperate to find any other survivors who might be out there. But he is not alone. Mutant victims of the plague-The Infected-lurk in the shadows…watching Neville’s every move…waiting for him to make a fatal mistake. Perhaps mankind’s last, best hope, Neville is driven by only one remaining mission: to find a way to reverse the effects of the virus using his own immune blood. But he knows he is outnumbered…and quickly running out of time.

I Am Legend opens nationwide on Friday, December 14, 2007.

WAIT! So this is a vampire movie and not a monster movie? Crap. Plus, when it says 2012, does it mean the end of the Maya calendar and apparently the world is restarted and everyone is gone? Like that?
  • alienhead
  • the thin man
i noticed gas is gonna cost over $6.50 in 2012.... what a depressing future we have to look forward to...
  • Raul Celis
That was really amazing, cant wait to see it!
  • HappyEvilDude
Problem with this is that two already very similar movies have come out this year: 28 Weeks Later and The Invasion (humanity disappearing/changing + guy with immune blood). it still looks good, but I wonder if it will be a success.
  • Bruce Murray
This movie was actually made with good ole' Chuck Heston back in the 70s.
It is a book, very good book too, and the Chuck Heston movie was not bad either.
I look forward to seeing this when it comes out.
  • This new trailer gives the impression that I Am Legend is closer to the orginal version of "The Last Man On Earth" than expected.

I really think that this movie is going to be good. :)
  • Dan
It isn't SUPPOSED to be close to "The Last Man ON Earth". "I Am Legend" is an incredible book, and a touchstone of the horror genre, heavily influencing every major horror writer in the last 30 years.
  • Jim
Bleah - looks like another 'lets take the general premise of the book and then completely change it so we can spend huge amounts of money on CGI' movie...

The book is a great read - highly recommended.
  • A. J.
    This looks good.
  • Will is so sexy!!He was said to be invited to an interview with his wife by a luxury millionaire&celebrity dating site meetrich.com. That sounds crazy!!
  • A. K.
    @Lynn

A bit over the top in the fan department I would say, though I do think Will Smith's rise from popular rapper to movie star is amazing. You sound like an astroturfer giving a dating site a plug. (meet rich dot com)

Looking forward to this film on DVD when it comes to net flix dot com. wink.
  • As stated previously, this has been done in "The Omega Man" with Charlton Heston. Before he became the lunatic leader of the NRA.
  • Dirk
ugh, way to ruin a great novel. This is going to be crap and the only people that will end up liking it never read the novel or just like the terrible stuff that Hollywood pumps out. Terrible, and doesn't even follow the much of the book.

    @DAN
I'm not sure why you seem upset that someone suggested that this is close to "The Last Man on Earth" since that movie was the first film adaptation of the book "I Am Legend". All that was suggested is that this adaptation is looking like a modernized version of a previous adaptation, both of which are loosely based on the book.
  • Manderson
As a reader of the book, how close the script sticks to the book, this could easily end up being Castaway with vampires. Sub in the dog for the volleyball and vampires for coconuts, add in a little running around for good measure and you've got the only man on Earth instead of the only man on the island.

Excellent story, doesn't translate well into film, however.
  • ernie
    in the book he dies!!!!
  • ernie
also vampire like zombies take over the earth
  • Question... what is an SR-71 doing on the deck of a carrier? Is there a decommissioned carrier in NY or San Diego that is a floating aviation/naval museum?
  • Me
    Hey Ernie,
Thanks for the plot spoiler. I was going to go order the book today you dimwit.
  • A.J.
Way to go Ernie, he was going to order the book!
  • ernie
check the book out at your local library. its like 110 pages and you can read it in like a day you big baby
  • Chode Warrioer
He doesn't die... re-read the book you moron.
  • marcus
good look, i can see. the book is great, but the movies inspired in him, -the omega man and last man on the earth - sucks.
  • Captain Pipi
    Chode, re-read it. He dies.
  • me
Who else is sick of moronic plot spoilers on the internet? (The ones without warnings that is.)
  • bomber
I saw this movie being filmed ... anyone explain why there's a chick in this movie?
  • kieran wollacott
hey i dont know if you notice but the scene at the bridge looks like the same scene from i-robot. in i-robot the robot drew a picture of a broken bridge the exact same way as it is in this movie. just thought you might want to know.
  • putos ingleses
que sus den por el culo a todos los ingleses yankis etc
  • ernie
the chick is a zombie. She tricks him into thinking she's a human because she looks it then she betrays him
  • Toni
OK. Let me see if I get this right. All of mankind is wiped out, except for Will Smith who is immune. So what are the millions of "mutants" subsisting on for the past year?? Am I to believe that they are all going to be fed by this one human remaining on the planet?
  • i believe that this will be a great movie and for you people that are hating. yes, i said hating cause well yell are complaining he is getting paid. cause as much as yall on saying bad things about the movie when it comes out YOU KNOW YOU ARE GOING TO GO SEE IT !!!!!!!!!!
  • slayer
PLEASE do not make the movie rated R me and my whole family want to see it.
  • Jason
    Toni...
To answer your question and not "spoil" anything for others, you really need to read the book. It's just over 100 pages and can be read in a day. I'm not a sci-fi, much less a vampire movie person, but this book was recommended to me several times. GREAT book because it was smartly written. You understand the title of the book (I Am Legend) and what it means at the end.
  • there are not vampires...
  • marven
this movie is very good the only man on earth
i dont believe that he is going to talk that much
because he is alone but what kind of
    deseas they got
  • Richard Matheson
qtarantino... youre an idiot... thats the coolest part about this movie/book. its a bacteria infection that turns the dead into vampires.

read the book... I am Legend by Richard Matheson

i know this movie looks nothing like the book.. but that cant be a turn off! it looks like a totally fricking awesome moviee!!! i cant fricking wait!
  • Yes there have been alot of movies with a similar theme already but they are not on the budget scale of this film and they are all based on the book that this film is tho this film shares its title and will be probably be the most faithful to it.

The most notable previous versions are The Last Man on Earth with Vincent Price and The Omega Man with Charlton Heston.

It makes me want to read the book now, my question is is the Will Smith character immune because he injected himself with an experimental antidote? And was he involved in the creation of the virus? And does it affect humans only or other animals?

And I think if this outbreak happens $6 gas (which will probably be closer to $9) will be the least of your worries!
  • Also I noticed since Will Smiths character is the last man on earth for at least 3 yrs that he has become just a little too close to his german shepard lol
  • cody
Um.... in a sense they are vampires.... the girl is human, and she does betray will for the "vampires" to give her back her brother... the "vampires" live so long because they sustain off a "human farm", caught immune humans and keep them in a drug induced state, and feed off their blood.

    re: Ernie

I can't believe you actually blew the ending to the book dude!! That's a bit rude. You should've thought about the people who haven't read the book but just might now that the movie is out. Some of us do like to read a book and not have the whole thing spoiled!!!
  • Scott
I have been waiting for a long time for a re-make of The Omega Man that stays closer to that storyline. If it's half as good as the original, it'll be a blockbuster!
  • Well I havent read the book yet, but now I plan to.... But I'm sure it will be as good if not better than the previous two film versions the first with Vincent Price and the last one with Charlton Heston in the Omega Man, there is even a low budget ripoff called I am Omega that Netflix is sending me to check out....

I dont know if he does or does not die in the book but based on the two films mentioned above .....(spoiler here so look away if you must ) the ending isnt going to be very cheery and mankind is finished....

I just wonder if it will turn out Wills character was involved or responsible for the creation of the Virus as indicated by the Heston film? I think it would have a stronger message if he was the creator of it as well as the only one to take the antidote...

They also seem to indicate that animals too can become infected with the mutant dog scenes, maybe he had time to inject his dog and himself with the antidote but left the human race to perish!
  • AL Camo
Any apocalyptic movie like this that has a basisi in reality. Government have been making Bio wepons for decades.. I think this movie has a sad overtone...Humans are there own worst enemy. Imagine
if prosperous nations helped non..and there would be a worry in the world.

This movie sends chills down my spine. As i know i my lifetime i will see something incredibly terrible. WW3 , Ozone collaspes, AI taking over. We are not as smart as we think.

Will Smith has become a great actor....i truly dislike him at first..( somewhat prejudice of his rise and race.) But
he is the man. This will be a emotional rollercoaster ride
movie. Once you get inside this movie and experience its horror. You'll change your mind about "I AM LEGEND"
the little infers he lives how could he be lgend if there is no one to hear/read about it.?????
  • doey
    omega man ..... chuck heston
  • Jaesha
AL Camo, Thank you for being frank and admitting your prejudice of Will Smith's race and his rise to fame. Hopefully now you are realize how ridiculous taking that position in life is. This way of thinking can set you back in a world that is ever moving forward. I hope that you did not have these feelings about all People of Color and don't currently have any prejudices. I hope you keep an open mind about the people you share a world and future with.

I am a longtime (C.H.) Omega Man fan and though I have not read the book everyone has mentioned and will likely not do so before seeing the film, I immediately got the Omega Man vibe after seeing I am Legend previews. I prefer not to go out and read a book before seeing a new movie as I don't want to develop any preconceived notions after reading the book which will jade my view of the movie. Often times writers use a book simply as a concept or an idea. They develop a screenplay which may not follow the book from beginning to end or include all of the characters, scenes, etc. I think you are setting yourself up for a let down if you compare a movie side by side with a book. Just enjoy the movie for what it is, on it's own merits.

    Peace and Love.

    ~J~
  • no name
read the book before the film
