Who Will Be Cast as Wonder Woman?

Casting is in full effect on the Justice League movie, and while no names are yet attached, we are getting a better idea of the actors who are trying out for the roles. And everyone seems to want to know what actress will be playing Wonder Woman. Let’s take a look at the new hopefuls:

Australian actress Victoria Hill (December Boys) supposedly did a screen test audition in September.

MTV reports that 26-year-old singer/actrsss Christina Milian wants the role. Although, I’m sure her ethnicity might prevent her from winning the role of the Amazon. Wonder Woman is also known for her curvaceous long legs. The modern day character is 6′3″ while the older version was much shorter (5′11″ was “amazonian” height for a woman in the 1960’s). Millian stands at a very short 5′ 2”.

Cinematical has learned that Shannyn Sossamon (A Knight’s Tale, One Missed Call) has auditioned for the role, after blowing away the Mulroneys in a Princess Di casting session. Sossamon is 29-years old and 5′ 9”, a little closer in height, but still much shorter than the traditional character.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Final Destination 3, Live Free or Die Hard) and Teresa Palmer (December Boys) both auditioned for Miller earlier this week during the marathon casting sessions in Hollywood. Age 21 years of age, Palmer is the youngest of the bunch. Her publicity materials list her as 5′ 5¾”. Winstead stands 5′ 8” and is also young (22 years old).

The Past: Both Jessica Biel and Katie Holmes have been rumored, but are no longer in contention for the role.

Apparently they are looking for an actress aged 21-29, and anywhere from 5′ 2” to 5′ 9” in height. So chances are that we’ll be getting a younger/shorter Wonder Woman. So who would you cast as Wonder Woman?

I am all for Mary Elizabeth Winstead

she has the look (and what a great one it is) and i think can pull of the acting…

Shannyn Sossamon and Christina Milian are in no way good for the part

  2. Gravatar

why is no one looking to Kate Beckinsale for this role … I think she would be perfect. I know she is not tall enough or voluptuous enough but I think both of those things can be made to look “right” in the movie.

As far as height goes though I think they can make anyone look tall enough so it should really come down to who physically looks the part.

  3. Gravatar

Mostly too young and too short. WW should be a minimum of 25, this ain’t teen titans. She also has to be a minimum of 5′9. Heels will add another 2″, bringing her up to 5′11, and that is the very shortest any WW can get away with. Ideally she would be around 6′.

Even without Bale or Routh, their replacements will be around the same size. It is the nature of Batman and Superman. Welling, Reynolds, Bale and Routh are well above 6′. It won’t look right if all the JL men are towering over WW.

  4. Gravatar

How about the lady that plays the bionic woman on nbc. I know it is going from one super hero to another, but she has the build and look for it. No?

  5. Gravatar

I’m still bummed about the WW movie w/ Whedon being nixed.

I had my hopes up for a Morena Baccarin WW.

  6. Gravatar

    SUPER AMANDA!

Myself because I have the height and the large breasts, small waist and hips plus I’m Italian close enough to Greece.

All these other hopefuls are too small breasted and too short.

In all honesty no one can compete with Lynda Carter. Lyda had the best body in the history of Hollywood alongside Raquel Welch

You also don’t know your Hollywood ethnic history Peter, Lynda Carter is half Mexican.

You teen pop culture bloggers don’t really know your history do you?

  7. Gravatar

My vote is for Olivia Munn!!!!!!!

  8. Gravatar

BTW: You can’t fake an hourglass figure on a bunch of female sticks like the above bloggers are naming as their choices. Kate? Mary?

    Oh GOD!!

Take it from a natural DD, 5′10 Amazon none of you know what Wonder Woman’s physique is about.

  9. Gravatar

carrie-ann moss, retards. she’s hot, kicks lots of ass, is tall/young enuf, also, she kicks ass. enuf said.

  10. Gravatar

Xena Warrior princess (Lucy Lawless) is a perfect match to an Alex Ross style wonder woman! I wonder why no on has noticed that yet?

  11. Gravatar

    Ditto Olivia Munn.

    She’s got geek cred.

  12. Gravatar

Hugh Jack is a solid foot taller than the comic Wolverine so I really doubt that people would have a hard time with a somewhat shorter WW.

… wow you really think Lucy Lawless has the sex appeal for a WW? … no way

  13. Gravatar

    Katherine Mcphee…definitely!

    http://www.thequestforit.com/photos/uncategorized/2007/05/31/katherine_mcphee_american_idol_runn.jpg

  14. Gravatar

carrie ann moss is beautiful but virtually flat chested and square torsoed.

WONDER WOMAN HAS A WAIST TO HIP RATIO not a washboard square.

Lucy Lawless would be amazing but Hollywood most likely has her tagged with XENA which is a shame. Also out of the Xena suit she’s not that busty. wonder Woman has to be buxom.

  15. Gravatar

Olivia Munn is really pretty and talented but she has the COMPLETE OPPOSITE of wonder Woman’s figure! she must be 32A-30-32

Her attempts at becoming the part have been a joke at best you might as well cast the Olsen twins.

  16. Gravatar

Um, I was told Jessica Biel accepted the role from an inside source. But I guess something must’ve come up if they’re still open.

  17. Gravatar

i was thinking more along the lines of jessica simpson

  18. Gravatar

Jessica Biel is far too small breasted and thin to ever play Wonder Woman. No trainer can give her what nature didnt.

McPhee is better but not powerful enough, she’s Wonder Girl.

  19. Gravatar

I think Charlize Theron would be great for Wonder Woman, if she would be interested in it.

  20. Gravatar

I like Charlize Theron for the role.

She is tall, strong and a fabulous actress.

  21. Gravatar

I’d like to see Sarah Lancaster in the WW suit. I think she’s right physically and she’s 5′8″ so not too short.

  22. Gravatar

    Jessica Simpson

  23. Gravatar

    Charisma Carpenter or Rachel Weisz

  24. Gravatar

I think that Charlize Theron or Naomi Watts would be good.
    Maybe Jordana Brewster??

  25. Gravatar

God, if only one wish….can you have Kate Beckinsale as Wonder Woman..and thanx

  26. Gravatar

    what about buffy?

  27. Gravatar

Scarlett Johanson would make a good wonder woman

  28. Gravatar

Paget Brewster? She’s tall and totally looks like Wonder Woman. Check her IMDB page!

  29. Gravatar

    2 words

    Julie Strain

    http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001781/

Standing at 6′1” (6′ 3′) with heels she fits the part. Age is the only strike against her.

  30. Gravatar

    Jaime Murray?

Her wiki said she was invited for auditions for the role based on how good she looked in the costume.

  31. Gravatar

Jaime Murray is a good pick…
for some reason I think Minka Kelly would be good…but she doesn’t really have the figure for it…
Sarah Lancaster is a nice choice…

    however :
    Nigella Lawson…

  32. Gravatar

Lokelani McMichael would be my choice.

  33. Gravatar

Eliza Dushku would have my vote hands down… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0MtFIXfzco

  34. Gravatar

TYRA BANKS. Height, legs for days, ample chest - and the kindest face since Lynda Carter.

  35. Gravatar

    “TYRA BANKS”

Except Wonder Woman was white. lulz

  36. Gravatar

Jaimie Alexander from Kyle XY 5′9″. ‘Nuf said.

    http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1526352/

  37. Gravatar

I can’t imagine someone that do not agree Jennifer Connelly was born to be cast Wonder Woman.

  38. Gravatar

    Rosario Dawson

  39. Gravatar

If it has to be someone from Hollywood then the only actresses worthy and worthwhile are Charlize Theron and Morena Baccarin. Every other suggestion made has been terrible — and thank God it won’t be Jessica Biel (yuck). Best option would be an uber-talented UNKNOWN. Someone reminiscent of Lynda Carter but still their own person (just like Brandon Routh is remiscent of Christopher Reeve but still his own person).

But the whole idea of a Justice League film, especially one being “fast tracked” and featuring the talentless twits of so-called “Young Hollywood”, is horrendous. We’re likely going to see a superhero version of Ocean’s 11 — zzzzzzzzzz.

Wonder Woman needs to be played by someone with a brain and LOTS of charisma. She is a born leader and fearsome warrior (read the comic book!). Hopefully, a stand-alone Wonder Woman film, preferably modelled on George Perez’s late-1980s reboot of the comic, will eventually happen (if done by a visionary director it could be a success!) and not be a spin-off from JL. But I won’t hold my breath…

  40. Gravatar

The casting people are idiots if they go with a short actress. If they cannot find a hot 6′3″ or better actress they should find another job because they do not understand the character.

  41. Gravatar

    Sarah Michelle Gellar.

This is no better person to play a super hero.

  42. Gravatar

I have said it before and shall say it again: Mandy Moore as Wonder Woman (she’s tall, has name-recognition, the movie will serve to expand her role diversity, she will bring to the movie an audience which wouldn’t have initially gone to see it).

They could also audition Joss Stone (not an actress, but she’s tall, has a fondness for accents, so why not try her out? she too would bring in a whole new audience).

And though it sucks they’re not getting Bale & Routh how about this:

-I’m still hoping for David Boreanaz as Batman (it’d be good he’d be a bit older).
-Tom Welling as Superman (do you really want three actors playing Superman at the SAME time?)
-Justin Hartley as Aquaman (hey he already did it once)
-Chad Michael Murray as The Flash
-Gaius Charles as The Green Lantern
-the voice of James Earl Jones as The Martian Manhunter

  43. Gravatar

If it was’t for the criteria mentioned above, that being mostly the age thing, I would have thought something along the line of Jeri Ryan or Lucy lawless. Both have amazinc physiques for this role, as well as who wouldnt ant to see them as Wonder Woman. Heck, one played almost as big an amazon for 8 seaons on a little show name Xena

  44. Gravatar

    .
You are all missing the point. All of the women mentioned are woefully inadequate.
    .
Anybody can act with a few lessons. The important thing is that they look like the role.
    .
Personally, I would inquire with the Russian Women’s Olympic Volleyball team to see if any are interested.

    .
The way you all talk it sounds like a short skinny weaselly dude who swaggers around because he has a gang to back him up would be a good fit for Superman.
    .

  45. Gravatar

I have to agree with “The Jack”..unless they keep to the true vision of what Wonder Woman is and what she stands for, all will be lost…

  46. Gravatar

    how about estella warren?

  47. Gravatar

    estella warren?
    jebus…are you kidding?…

there are tow things that MUST be present in the actor playing Wonder Woman
    1) she has to look the part
it’s not enough to cast some hot chick with name recognition (alba, biel etc), wonder woman has a physicality that, like it or not, is part of what defines her character…if one of the Olsen twins was the finest actor of her generation, a true chameleon, able to inhabit any role…she still wouldn’t be right for wonder woman.
    2) a good actor
the currrent wonder woman is a leader, a warrior…not an OC bit player.

I have great hopes for this film…but just hope…no good expectations at all…

  48. Gravatar

HAL JORDAN IS GREEN LANTERN!!!!!!!! NOT NOBODY ELSE!!!!!

  49. Gravatar

Either Victoria Hill or the other girl in the bottom right section of the picture should be WW.

  50. Gravatar

personally I think they should cast a super tall unknown!

I’m 6′4 and a half and I would love to get a chance to play one of the only roles that was made for a tall woman!!!!!

But alas it will never happen…so I guess my vote would be for Mary Elizabeth Winstead…

  51. Gravatar

Allie, take a couple acting classes and read for the part. Acting is easy, overrated and actors get the most undue adulation of any profession.

  52. Gravatar

Well as far as I know they aren’t holding open casting calls, but if they were I would be first in line to audition, and unfortunately I don’t have the money to afford an agent, but if I hear anything about open casting calls for it I’m going to go for it!

  53. Gravatar

These guys claim there is or was an open casting call.
    .
    It cannot hurt to inquire.

Adding her name to a list that includes Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Teresa Palmer and Christina Milian, actress Shannyn Sossamon (A Knight’s Tale, One Missed Call) has auditioned for director George Miller for the upcoming film Justice League of America, according to Cinematical.

They confirm that Sossamon did audition for the Amazon Princess and she apparently blew away the writing team of Kieran and Michele Mulroney and has heard back from them since. The Mulroneys were so taken with her that they championed her to director Miller, even going so far as to state that they had envisioned Sossamon in the Amazonian role all along. However, according to the report, Miller was less enthusiastic about her audition.

The audition apparently took place sometime prior to the recent open casting call, which still gives Sossamon a chance at the role, even with Miller’s initial reluctance.

I’m Jennifer Garner. I think I would be perfect for the role of Wonder Woman.
Thanks to all my fans who supported me!

If you dont know by now, this isn’t actually Jennifer Garner, morons.

  55. Gravatar

What about Tricia Helfer from BSG? She’s got the height and the chops, just needs to dye her hair to brunette. That’s my suggestion.

  56. Gravatar

    http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/6945/priyankachoprakd7.jpg

I still think she fits the profile of the role pretty well.
    And naturally.

  57. Gravatar

Except for the age, Rena Sofer (Nathan’s wife on Heroes, also in 24) would be a good choice. She looks a lot like Lynda Carter.

    http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0812133/

  58. Gravatar

Nadia Bjorlin was my choice from the start. But it appears that they are not looking at her. Mary Elizabeth Winstead looks very much the part, and I belive that she is what the want. She does look a lot like Lynda Carter. Megan Fox has a great look for Wonder Woman, and they haven’t looked at her either. It seems strange that all they could come up with is three actress. I wish that they would have given others a chance too reed for the part. Different age groups instead of early 20 year olds.

Did you see the latest episode of “Bones” on FOX. This past Tuesday during the Halloween episode Emily Deschannel dressed up as Wonder Woman. Let’s go over the criteria for being Wonder Woman:

    1. The girl must be tall ( Emily is 5′9″ or 5′10″…once you add heels she is over 6′ tall..pretty close to the modern day Wonder Woman at 6′3″)
    2. The girl must be white (Emily is indeed that)
    3. The girl must be a dark-haired, crystal-eyed beauty(she is definitely that…people are mentioning girls who are short and have blonde hair…why choose a blonde haired actress and then die her hair or make her wear a wig when you have people like Emily who are natural)
    4. The girl must be have a nice body(few actresses beat the nice natural breasts, smooth long legs, and world class back side that Emily has)
    5. The girl must have pronounced facial features.
    6. The girl must have high intelligence(definitely Emily…her role in Bones demonstrates this)
    7. The girl must be young but not too young(Emily is 29…this is a perfect age for now and for sequels in the near future…next 10 years)
    8. The girl must be good at action sequences and fighting scenes(Emily is seems to be extremely talented when it comes to this….very little training would be required to get her in proper shape)
    9. The girl must be an excellent actress.(She is that)

After I saw her in costume on Tuesday…Emily Deschannel is the ONE!!!

  60. Gravatar

Emily Deschanel has an angular, bony, Skeletor-like face. The person who plays Wonder Woman needs to look more wholesome and corn-fed.

Deschanel’s face is almost an optical illusion in that she looks more bizarre-looking the further the camera pans back.

Her youth, hair color, sparkling eyes, and nice body don’t make up for the fact that her facebones are arranged like an Escher painting.

The Deschanel proponent above even acknowledges her “pronounced facial features”.

C’mon. We need a superhero face not a cartoon face.

  61. Gravatar

    MEGAN FOX!!!…lol Ya’ll hear?!…MEGAN FOX!!!…sheesh!

    1) Megan Fox 2) Nadia Bjorlin

    NUFF SAiD!

  62. Gravatar

KATE BECKINSALE is perfect for wonder woman…

    please, please consider her..

Kate might not have the physique that WW possesses, THOUGH if you look closely her face is the closest resemblance of Diana of Themyscira.

In addition, she is ALREADY very familiar with fight scenes given her previous stints in VAN HELSING as well as UNDERWORLD..

those 2 criterias oughta be enough to compensate for the height she lacks. (btw, height can be edited much like Frodo of LOTR)

  63. Gravatar

    http://artfiles.art.com/images/-/Lynda-Carter-Photograph-C12146665.jpeg.

Have a look at the picture above. This is the 5′9″ Lynda Carter in 1976(age 25). I’m sure everyone would agree she was the “perfect” Wonder Woman. Check the heels.
This puts her at close to 6′, very close to the comic book girl who is 6′3″. Also, the hair, eyes, face and definitely body(with those nice boobs and luscious long legs) are all as Wonder Women is described in the comics.

    http://destinysgarden.blogspot.com/2007/10/emily-deschanel-as-wonder-womanhot.html.

    http://www.watchingbones.com/category/emily-deschanel/

Now have a look at the two web sites above(in the second site play the video to see her in Wonder Woman dress). This is Emily Deschannel in 2007 dressed up as Wonder Woman in her show “Bones”. She is 5′9″, with heels around 6′. Compare the two actresses in their “get-ups”, especially when they smile. Emily is a Lynda Carter look alike. These other actresses are nice choices(including Jaime Murray who is absolutely smoking hot), but they don’t have the height, the looks and the fighting ability that Emily has. Emily you should “throw your hat in” for this role.

  64. Gravatar

I love how everyone who enthusiasts that Lynda Carter was “perfect for the role” of WW while they simultaneously complain that WW needs to be statuesque, intimidating, curvy and voluptuous, have some muscle tone, etc. when Lynda Carter possessed none of those things LOL.

Sorry, Lynda isn’t the prototype for WW. Not IMO anyway. No offense to her.

    some_dude
WW is not about “sex appeal”. That figures someone would say that.

  65. Gravatar

They have now officially cast Megan Gale. An Australian supermodel. She’s 5′10 which in my book is still not tall enough. I’m disappointed.

  66. Gravatar

Don’t be. That is not the official casting. How many ‘official casting’ announcements from non legit sources have we gotten so far?

When the real cast list comes, we’ll know ;)

  67. Gravatar

Personally, my vote goes first to Zoe Saldana. She is tall enough for the part, and has more than enough cup-size to appease the director and producer! Also, she has enough “nasty rebel-girl” attitude to be a tough-as-nails superhero and still be able to rock the Wonder Woman suit as one hot WW!! Yeah!:-P
Also, I think that Angelina Jolie would do nicely for the role, but too many people out there have already given her a thumbs-up for WW, because she would be Warner Bro’s “safe choice.” She’s got the bod, the breasts, the tall girl thang goin’ on, and is excellent as an action-hero. But I just can’t see people NOT YAWNING through the film if she took the WW role.
Honestly, I think an unknown like Zoe Saldana would do awesome, and people would be interested enough to go see it, BECAUSE she IS a relatively unknown actress.
Zoe Saldana’s got the best chopps for the part if you ask me! She starred in (2000’s) Center Stage, and as Ashton Kutcher’s lovely fiancee-in-hiding in Guess Who, with Bernie Mac.
But come on, seriously! Even though we ALL KNOW that a woman born in the Amazon of Amazonian bloodlines would be medium to dark-skinned, still, America wants some “suburban white chick” who can play tough to be our countries’ Wonder Woman.

Probably has a lot to do with Wonder Woman’s historical creation. She - along with Superman - was created and over-publicized in WWII to boost the morale of American citizens.
It was kind of a “Uncle Sam Wants You!” ploy from the U.S. government to preserve our imperialistic, superimposed sense patriotic commeraderie.
And let’s face it boys & girls…1940’s middle-America was not, NOT going to let a black woman represent our nation!

So, while there is little real chance of Saldana getting the part, she would be not only the best as far as looks, body type they’re going for, and acting range, I still wanted to put my two piddly cents in:)

  68. Gravatar

Somebody needs to send the casting director a picture of Nadia Bjorlin if they want to do Wonder Woman justice!!! Wonder Woman is NOT just an average looking woman, like MOST of the rumored canidates I’ve seen, she HAS to be a tough beautifull babe that can fill out the costume properly and NOT over-exposed in to many other roles. Use Lynda Carter and the new Wonder Woman comics as a referance and you will see that Nadia Bjorlin is a great choice.

  69. Gravatar

Although I don’t think she’s nearly tall enough the closest comic book choice would have to be Nadia Bjorlin. She’s got the physical appearance of WW down pat just look at a side by side and see what I mean. However, I don’t think she’ll be able to capture WW’s strength of presence on the big screen. With good writing and a step up as far acting goes on Nadia’s part, I think she could pull it off nicely. Remember WW’s gotta have a look that displays irresistable beauty (almost trans-like), strength, fiercness, and a quite gentleness all at the same time. It’s damn near impossible to get someone with a look that embodies all those qualities so I hope they dont just get some 18 year old teeny bopper to play the role. After all, this really aint the teen titans.

  70. Gravatar

Wonder Woman is based on Greek Mythology, so should be Greek looking in appearence, if they want a black woman in the movie why not include the Vixen who in the comics was black. If a black man in it can have Steel who in the comics was black they should try to make the movie appeal to the fans of the comics. I’m still trying to relate a white Alicia in the Comics to a black one in Fantastic Four movie, and a White blonde hair Pete Ross to a black one on Smallville. Why didn’t they just come out with a new character with a different name. How was Harvey Dent white in Batman comics but black in Batman movie. Why didn’t they just give the character a different name. Come on if they come out with a black Panther or Luke Cage movie, don’t you want them to be black as they were in the comics. The characters should resemble the role they are playing. Sarah michelle Giler is to short to play Wonder Woman, maybe she could be Supergirl.

  71. Gravatar

Jessica Simpson as wonder woman? No way, she is too short, to young, if she ever learned how to act maybe she could be Supergirl.

  72. Gravatar

Denise Lewis isn’t an actress as far as I know but is an Olympic Gold medal winner in the 2004 Hepthathon, and might make a great Vixen if they decided to have her in the movie.

  73. Gravatar

For Role of Superman. Brandon Routh though not a bad actor is to skinny for Superman, they could have either Tom Welling, Dean Cain or the Actor from Superboy do it if he is Muscular enough now.

Could keep Green Arrow, Cyborg, and Aquaman from Smallville series. If Cyborg in it drop Steel as don’t need two characters in it who are almost alike. If spin off of Smallville just keep Tom wellings as Superman, don’t even have to have him wear the costume as this is new version of Superman. If Kara in it just keep her from Smallville series also. Can keep Christian Bale of Batman begins as Batman. By the time this comes out maybe that Impulse guy will be old enough to be the Flash, otherwise just have him as Impulse.

  74. Gravatar

Maribel Guardia is made for this role body wise height breast wise and beauty every one should look her up she is perfect!!!

  75. Gravatar

I would love to see Sophia Bush from one tree hill get the job. she could totally pull off wonder woman. I have a three year old little boy who watches justice league every day, and usually while he is in one room watching that I am in the other room watching one tree hill and he has asked me if she was wonder woman before. I know he’s only 3 but he knows is justice league stuff.

Plus she’s an amazing actress and she could fit the profile.

  76. Gravatar

i would think Michelle Ryan (Bionic Woman), as mentioned earlier would be a fine choice. she’s 5-7 which is a decent height, add the heels, and she would be perfect.

the moment someone from the MTV crowd is cast, such as Jessica Simpson (???? are you for real???), the movie will be a total joke.

  77. Gravatar

SARAH LANCASTER as WONDER WOMAN the best!!! SARAH LANCASTER as WONDER WOMAN the best!!! SARAH LANCASTER as WONDER WOMAN the best!!! SARAH LANCASTER as WONDER WOMAN the best!!! 78. Gravatar

Check out an actress/model Emma Ledden. I think she has that innocent look that Lynda Carter has and she has the height, colouring face and figure.

  79. Gravatar

Tera Patrick may not as greatest an actress as other women mentioned, however, she does fit the size (5′ 9″) they’re looking for, and she would bring some what of a semi-exotic look to the role. Curvaceous? You betcha! She’s a little out of the age range, she’s 31.

  80. Gravatar

I think Megan fox would make a great Wonder Woman!

  81. Gravatar

Mandy Moore gets my vote hands down.

A perfect choice for this role.

  82. Gravatar

ABSOLUTELY ONLY ONE REASONABLE CHOICE-ANGELINA JOLIE. SHE’S GOT THE HAIR, EYES, LARGE BREASTS, HEIGHT, AND IS TAN LIKE THE REAL WONDER WOMAN OF HISTORICAL TIMES. SHE’S STILL YOUNG AND IS USED TO ACTION TYPE MOVIES-AS SOON AS SHE HAS HER TWINS, THIS IS THE WOMAN FOR THE JOB!! SHE’S ACTUALLY LMORE HISTORICALLY ACCURATE THAN LYNDA CARTER. LYNDA CARTER HAS A SLIGHTLY ENGLISH/IRISH LOOK TO HER THAT ISN’T CORRECT. WONDER WOMAN WAS A GREEKISH AMAZON-ANGELIA JOLIE LOOKS BETTER AND CLOSER TO THAT INTERPRETATION WITHOUT THE IRISH LOOK TO HERAND HER BIG GREEN EYES THAT GO UP ARE VERY EXPRESSIVE AND INTENSE–SHE HAS THE SAME SKINNY LONG ARMS AS LYNDA CARTER AND GOOD BROAD SHOULDERS–HER FACE BEATS LYNDA CARTER BY MILES ANYWAY! I HOPE HOLLYWOOD USES THEIR HEADS-SHE’S THE ONLY DECENT LOOKING FACE OUT THERE IN HOLLYWOOD LEFT.

Some of the opinions are biased because folks like certain actresses. But, Catherine Bell (JAG/Army Wives) would be a smarter choice. She fits the WW bill perfectly. At the least, consider Jennifer Love Hewitt…..curvy, young, and accomplished.

  84. Gravatar

You know who would make a good Wonder Woman, she’s definitely got the height. Is KATE HOLMES.. She’d be perfect for the part..

  85. Gravatar

Angelina Jolie - don’t know if she is tall enough, but she certainly has the figure and was great as Lara Croft. She’s also very pretty. Nothing like Linda Carter but it would work. There is no one other than Linda Carter that will ever be Wonder Woman to me.

  86. Gravatar

I think Katherine Mc Phee from American Idol Is the spitting Image of a young Linda Carter and Is my top choice to be given a serious shot at taking on the role.face It her singing career has not taken off!She should try her hand at acting

  87. Gravatar

Kate Beckinsale - would be a awesome Wonder Woman! -….shes got the figure and she has the attitude - …she was good in both underworld and Van helsing! - … I think she would be Very good as wonder woman! -

    just my thoughts - thanks!

  88. Gravatar

Katherine McPhee of American Idol fame!

  89. Gravatar

I think that Angelina Jolie should play Wonder Woman she has the look ,the body and the attitude that Wonder Woman had and i think she could probably get more viewers too watch the movie because most men think she is so sexy and most women think she georgeous.

  90. Gravatar

Here’s a thought- How about Lucy Lawless from Xena? She’s 6 foot amazon size, looks great in black hair and has blue eyes. She would be perfect for that role!! And all the stuff she learned from filming Xena- would come in handy!!!!!

    KATIE HOLMES

I have ALWAYS thought that if anyone was ever cast in the role of WONDER WOMAN it should be Katie Holmes.

Every little girl loved wonder woman and wanted to be her. She was so pure and beautiful and she looked so wholesome and honest. KATIE HOLMES looks ALOT like her. She even SMILES like her with her EYES.

No one would be better for this role than Katie Holmes.

    I say KATIE HOLMES
    KATIE HOLMES

Its just me but I think they should do a search for wonder WW out of the unknown women in the world…make it a world wide search…like they did for scarlet….and harry potter. we need a fresh face. and with all the talent in hollywood they can teach anyone how to act…..but WW had that special way of just looking at you and you knew you better be good….. wanted to be good.

I think that would be the best call.
Hollywood has just gotten too lazy.

  94. Gravatar

    Angelina Jolie…

  95. Gravatar

My first thought was Leelee Sobieski. She played a great warrior princess as Joan of Arc a few years ago. She is 5′ 10″, is 25 years old, and definitely has the right look. She is blond but has crystal blue eyes, and in this case I don’t think being blond is a disadvantage.

  96. Gravatar

hey wut about that Tiffany Amber Theisan girl. she looks alot like Linda Carter. she has my vote!!

  97. Gravatar

    or Angelina Jolie

  98. Gravatar

Out of the speculative actresses tossed up so far, I really like the idea of Kate Beckinsale…she does excellently in buttkicker roles (Underworld, Van Helsing), is smoking hot, and is a little underused in Hollywood these days.

I loathe the idea of Angelina Jolie playing the part…EVERY damn movie has her in it these days, and as far as female action heroines go, she should just be happy she became the face of Lara Croft. As beautiful as she is, I’m sick of looking at her.

    Kate Beckinsale ftw.

  99. Gravatar

Liv Tyler! Hello! She’s very tall, like 6′! She’s incredibly beautiful, drop dead! A great actress! She has American Indian blood, which gives her a unique look, not to mention the physique. She’s also just gone through a divorce and had a baby recently, so she could spend some time getting buff. She’s never played a super hero, which is a plus, she’s a household name, and most importantly, she’s very TALL. I can’t agree more with most commentors; If you’re not going to cast a Very tall actress to play an Amazon woman, then Please Don’t Do the Movie! As a tall woman, 5′9″ tall, I find it sickening that we can’t get any tall actresses to play tall roles. Stop settling with short, adolescent looking, bad actresses for key feminine roles. Women do not need to be short, tiny framed things to play a movie role!! We’re not doing any justice to women! Example of a fantastic, tall, bigger woman - great actress, Jennifer Hudson! Stop looking for just “pretty faces” and start looking for great actresses, drop dead gorgeous or not. We’re tired of 1-liner actors with bad lines and predictable plots. What the hell happened to movies?
If you’re not going to pick a great actress, known, who’s truly tall (Over 6 feet tall), then pick an Unknown actress who’s over 6′ and a great actor! Do some Justice to the most important Female, SuperHero, Justice Figure In American History! Anything less will set women back to the 1950’s. We’ve come so far! Don’t cop-out.

  100. Gravatar

The knockout who played the Vulcan on Enerprize: Jolene Blalock. Killer looks plus she can act and smart also. Not another Hollywood bibo. Check her out.

  101. Gravatar

My pick is Supermodel Adriana lima I would have went with Jessica alba but shes already been in a superhero movie. And just a reminder for all the people that say that a darker skinned female cant be WW,…hello WW was from the Amazon, and if my memory is still intact then the Amazon is in Brazil. I think Christina milian could pull it off because she looks brazilian. anyone thats ever been knows what im talking about. Hell I would love to see Roseyln sanchez or Eva mendez as WW…but i know thats not possible because hollywood is predjudiced.

  102. Gravatar

There are many women i can think of that would be perfect for the part looks wise. The problem is finding a woman who can act as well as look the part. I personally think Sable would be great if she could act. Realistically however I think Jennifer Love Hewitt would get my vote.

  103. Gravatar

This is why the WW movie was tanked people……..who will cast the role as WW….I have been a fan for many years. Actually I think they should hold open casting and pick an unknown it worked for Superman returns. Who is that guy…..? But it worked.

Who ever they choose has some big red boots to fill and she has to beable to execute that spin with finesse… I just hope the directors/casting dont fudge it up! And hopefully TPTB will make due with all of the wonderful costume changes that happend on the show.

  104. Gravatar

I thought of Liv Tyler myself, but she doesn’t seem to have the right natural attitude to me…

And let’s not forget, a gorgeous brunette does not a Wonder Woman make…I love Christina Milian to pieces, Adriana Lima is sex appeal incarnate, and Eva Mendes and Roselyn Sanchez are both gorgeous women…but they just don’t really mesh with the role.

In all honesty, an unknown would do the best for this…although it’s probably not going to happen with such a bigbudget movie…they’ll want star appeal.

And please for the love of all that is holy, keep Tom Welling far from this Superman…that weenie has no business wearing red and blue…and can you imagine him in cape/tights? How bout no. If Lex Luthor has any part in the movie (I have no idea, don’t know much of Justice League lore), you can keep the Smallville actor (guy was BORN to play Lex Luthor), but for crying out loud…NO TOM WELLING.

  105. Gravatar

i’d say LIV TYLER…. looks & height, whatelse do we need?

  106. Gravatar

Another issue with a lot of these named actresses…none of them have quite the right face. Wonder Woman needs to be a WOMAN, not a girl. Too many of the named actresses have overly young appearances…we don’t want a granny, but we want an adult woman here.

I just thought of a pretty nice candidate I could see working out…Jodi Lyn O’Keefe. She’s a knockout, has a strong, adult appearance, and can dominate a room. Only problem is, she’s indeed such a strong and dominating figure, she usually is better served towards antagonistic roles, such as the recent seasons of Prison Break in which she just owns the role.

  107. Gravatar

I’m sorry people but the ONLY person that should even be considered for the role of wonder woman is Catherine Zeta Jones.

She’s tall, beautiful, and she has the PERFECT amazon look

  108. Gravatar

Catherine Zeta Jones is totally the idea of a strong, attractive woman that I’m thinking of, but I’m not sure I see her personally. She’s too used, imo…she’s been in so much, she’s just kinda fizzled for me. Stunning woman, and could probably do the part well…but I dunno. Just doesn’t seem quite right. I think we need someone less “in the spotlight.”

  109. Gravatar

Meagan Fox!! Has anyone seen Transformers or any magazine covers lately? Meagan Fox is your Wonder Woman and she can act. If communicating with cars that turn into robots isn’t acting then I don’t know what is.

  110. Gravatar

If the go with the “young super hero” thing that’s been so popular lately, Megan Fox all the way. Every movie needs a little Megan Fox.

  111. Gravatar

IS THE CASTING DONE AND OVER WITH??? because i hope this comment would make it to the producers….of those that auditioned, none is perfect for the role. i was thinking of Michelle Ryan, the english actress who played BIONIC WOMAN?— i think this would be a great opportunity for her to try a shot at Hollywood one more time (though i’m not quite sure what’s the latest with her) — she’s almost 5′8″ but definitely looks voluptuous (she appears to be)as the marvel comics’ sketched character. even if she has little martial arts background — that can be worked out, right? How about JENNIFER GARNER? Is she still active in the movies? There’s not going to be a problem with her fighting & acting skills if she lands the role….No, No, ANGELINA JOLIE & KATE BECKINSALE are gorgeous yet definitely slim for the character — but i agree with the suggestion of considering SARAH LANCASTER - she has the same appeal and built as Linda Carter and her background in dancing would perhaps make her easier to train in martial arts, etc… WHAT D’YA SAY FOLKS?

  112. Gravatar

Alyssa Milano is older than they want, but I think she would do well. She is already in shape for a role like this, based on how she looked in Charmed.

I think there were a lot of good choices stated and a whole lot of bad ones. When doing movies as big as this one is destined to be you have to get it right. The die hard fans won’t let you live it down if you don’t like with X-Men (Rogue’s character “nuff said” too young, no hips, and no sex appeal, it was NOT Rogue.) They mess up all the time in casting (I hope there reading this for hints) lol Go with some one you has that natural royalty about them (WW was a princess) and a take no mess attitude) Use the lasso only once in the movie (for nostalgic purposes only) and most Important make it believable (Like TRANSFORMERS GREATNESS!!!) not cartoony (like SPEED RACER GRABAGE)
    My Pick
Kristanna Loken - Terminator 3 she was the X http://www.KristannaLoken.net
5’10 Tall, with hips, bust size, long legs, sex appeal and she kicks major @ss

    Greetings:
I was a big fan of the old TV show Wonder Woman, and being young it was part the beauty of Linda and the crime fighting scenes of that era. We must keep in mind that WW is an Amozon Queen and was not only voluptuous but tall in a womanly kiind of way which inhanced her beauty as well as being a full blooded brunett.
I think that someone like Thiesen ( Baywatch, 90210 ) would be good because she has the body, hair and look of a WW. Other than that I would look in the Fitness, female bobybuilding scene for that woman with the right combination of feminine muscles, beauty and body with the flowing black hair…

Not these waif of a women that cant even hold their breakfast down due to worrying about being thin - give it some thought - and please don’t rush the movie like you did with X-Men, if we can wait 10 plus years for an Indiana Jones sequel we’ll definitely wait a year or two more for the Lovliness of Wonder Woman…

  115. Gravatar

I agree with some of you, some of the candidates are stick women, no breast, no waist, and as for their legs, their calfs are the same size as their thighs, but sad to say that seems to be the trend :(

On the other hand there are a lot of beautiful, voluptuous women out there, 6 ft. +, have an unknown competition. Ethniticity not all that important, since we’re so mixed anyway, for example, Prof. Xavier, from X-man, an Englishman??? No don’t tell me that Patrick Stewart isn’t mixed?? I think he’s great, but when you mix an Australian, Jackman, an Englishman, etc. as U.S. comic book icons? Why not a Peruvian WW, or dare I say it, actual GreeK, anywho good luck to all!!

abigail i agree with JENNIFER GARNER but no hips we can let that slide right ? but same with jolie and zeta-jones too used, like with fantastic 4 we need fresh face or not so used ones I’m I the only one that feels Rogue’s character was messed up

  118. Gravatar

sweet pea uhm Liv Tyler is way to sweet for the role not in her character

  119. Gravatar

    JOE
Uh No!!! Jennifer Love Hewitt can’t sing, can’t act, and is very irratatig. NO WAY!! Think with your Brain man !! Not your Johnson

  120. Gravatar

M is it. . . Uh m darling Lynn Carter the Orignal wasn’t WHITE you Chump!!!! Keep up

  121. Gravatar

Jette KATIE HOLMES is married already get over it . amd She is WAY TOO soft for the role Might as well pick liv tyler she as least kicked an @ss or two as a Elf . and shes cute katie looks like she need a sandwich an amazon she is NOT

  122. Gravatar

SALMA HAYEK would be the perfect Wonder Woman! Because she IS THE PERFECT WOMAN!!

  123. Gravatar

can’t you leve thing alone that was a good show if you want to do a movie about wonder woman get the old actress that played her she was a very good wonder woman I thank !!!!!!!!!! no one else can play that roll like she did .

  124. Gravatar

Nadia Bjorlin! This is the PERFECT Wonder Woman!

  125. Gravatar

    Megan Fox …

  126. Gravatar

    Liv Tyler

AT 5′ 11″, she not only has the height, but also the looks! She’s young enough to do sequels, yet mature enough to fully embody the character of a true Wonder Woman!

  127. Gravatar

That’s so disappointing. There are so many tall, beautiful, athletic women over 6′ tall who could easily fit the bill here. If this is the way they’re casting their lack of imagination is going to compromise the story. Wonder Woman is supposed to represent strength, vitality and power as well as femininity. If she’s smaller than the boys the character becomes just another cute chick (albeit with superpowers). Linda Carter herself is half Mexican so this ethnicity argument is bogus too. Here’s a name that could be an interesting choice…

Ana Ivanovic (if she could fit in into her schedule)

  128. Gravatar

Why not Jennifer Garner, she is a great action star already from alien.

  129. Gravatar

I think Eliza Dushku should be considered for the part to me she closely resembles Linda Carter ( who still is very beautiful). Eliza would be good for the part i like all of her movies and work and think she should at least be asked about the idea

  130. Gravatar

What about Jennifer Love Hewitt? She has the body (breast and all) Black hair she would be perfect.

  131. Gravatar

Liv Tyler needs the part! She has the looks and we already know she can act.

  132. Gravatar

Every version of WW I have ever seen, whether in TV series or cartoon, has had three similarities: Both are 6′ 3″, both are voluptuous, and both are BRUNETTE!!! Why are these idiots auditioning SHORT, SKINNY BLONDES???
WW was always 6′ 3″, no matter how you quibble, so find a sexy brunette at that height and put her into the costume. She also must have piercing blue eyes. Stop all the crap, and do it right!!!

  133. Gravatar

GOOD ON YOU NATASHA!!! That was my immediate thought. JLH would be perfect. With zero - script lenses to make here eyes blue, she’s in there. YEAH, JLH!!! She’s got my vote, guys.

  134. Gravatar

i think megan fox or Lucy lawless….. would be great for the part….jessica beil would have been terrible.

  135. Gravatar

Megan Fox is trying to be the next Angelina Jolie, and I have no idea why, Angelina is trash.

  136. Gravatar

p.s. I wonder if Angelina liked the way her brother’s esophagus tasted?

  137. Gravatar

I believe it should be Angelina Jolie she is just as beautiful and stunning as Linda Carter was and still is when she played Wonder Woman. The original Wonder Woman had curves and a mysterious sex appeal about her, these younger actress won’t give the roll the flavor it needs. The younger actress are mostly trashy, too skinny and all hair please don’t for get that she was NOT A BLONDE. They shouldn’t make it a justice league movie it will be to much like fantastic 4 it just should be Wonder Woman all by herself with the help of a few friends. Angelina makes a great action hero, look at tomb raider and beowolf and any other movie she played in!

  138. Gravatar

Wonder Woman is an Amazon, which was a Greek mythological construct — NOT from the Amazon (in South America). Amazons were female warriors. Not that it wouldn’t be nice to see a worthy woman of color play the role, but if you want true authenticity, I guess WW should be played by an actress with substantial European heritage.

And, for the love of Hera, NOT KATIE HOLMES. We need a tall (real tall, no less than 5′9″), curvaceous, beautiful, buff (if possible) brunette actress (i.e. she has to be able to ACT and not just be eye candy). It’s a tough one to fill, but a lot of the options here are good.

Currently, I’m voting for Catherine Bell.

  139. Gravatar

    taylordon…

How are you calling the other people auditioning “trashy” and too “skinny” and leaving Angelina out of that pile…ummm, she did make out with her own brother!!!! And talk to Laura Dern and Jennifer Aniston about their opinions of her taking their men…If that ain’t trash, I don’t know what is…and her veins are bulging out of her arms, she is so skinny…I seriously doubt she would look hot as Wonder Woman. And let’s not forget, the thing she played in Beowulf was computer animated…they helped her out in the curves department quite a bit. Wonder Woman should be someone children can look up to. Angelina doesn’t fit that bill.

    jinfo…

If it can’t be my recommendation of Nadia Bjorlin (look her up, trust me) then I am going with your Catherine Bell :)

  140. Gravatar

Nadia Bjorlin would be a good choice for WW, but her acting wasn’t apparent in Redline…..That could be due to role and/or script. She is gorgeous and curvy enough.
