Ark Warehouse

A couple months ago it was rumored that the found ark of the covenant had something to do with the fourth Indiana Jones film. Then a poster released at Comic-Con 2007 showed Indy’s hat and Whip on top of a crate with the words “Property of Dr. Jones” and a number. And the numbers supposedly coincided with some lucasfilm library photos of the crate containing the Lost Ark. Well now AintItCool is reporting that LucasFilm have recreated the Warehouse that was seen at the end of Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark. That’s right, Indy is in fact going back to the beginning.

I’m still under the belief that this is the MacGuffin that George Lucas may have been speaking about during the scripting process. I mean, clearly a film called Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is not about the Found Ark, but about Crystal Skulls. My best guess is that the film begins with the Ark but snowballs into something much more.

Ok… this may be waaaay out there, but I’m thinking this whole “Crystal Skulls” thing may just a big smoke screen. I mean, I know they officially announced the new title, and have it on the website, but what if… and this is a big “what if”… but what if the title is another “Blue Harvest” or “Revenge of the Jedi”? I mean, what if this movie is actually a sequel to Raiders of the Lost Ark? You’re saying, “Of course it’s a sequel,” but I mean a direct sequel. I mean, in the Indiana Jones movies, Indiana Jones never actually gets to keep any of the artifacts. The Sankara stones were returned to the village (the ones that didn’t fall to the crocodiles). The Holy Grail is still in a cave, in a crevice (if it wasn’t retrieved by the old knight, which we are to assume the knight was finally ready to let it go and die.) However, in Raiders of the Lost Ark, it isn’t lost anymore… it’s stored away in the warehouse, and the Ark story still could use quite a bit more closure. So what if the 4th movie is a direct sequel to Raiders, tying up all of the loose ends once and for all? Personally, I think that would rock. The name being a fake would be a great publicity stunt as well. Then on April Fools Day, I could see them going public, saying, “The real title is Raiders of the Lost Ark 2.”

It would be great to have the actual picture of the Ark that was shown in the movie here. But then we would have to wait for the movie to come out in DVD to capture it, or does someone have a sharp image of it now?

Ok… so now what I wrote way back in October is actually kinda funny since the movie is out now… but they could still do it in Indiana Jones 5… :)
