There are a lot of new casting rumors for JJ Abrams’s Star Trek circulating the web this week. Let’s take a look:

IESB has learned that Mike Vogel (Poseidon, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Cloverfield) is the frontrunner to play James T Kirk. TrekMovie is reporting that former Stargate Atlantis regular Paul McGillion has auditioned for the role of Scotty. And Adrien Brody confirmed to MTV that he spoke to JJ Abrams about playing Spock, but ultimately didn’t get the part.

I’m certainly not disappointed by the two names mentioned above, and both of them make sense, BUT, I was hoping for some bigger name actors. Remember when the rumors had Matt Damon as Kirk? Now we’re all of a sudden talking about the guy from Supercross? What happened?!
