Last week DreadCentral reported a rumor from an e-mail spy that claimed to know the identity of the Cloverfield / 1-18-08 / Overnight monster(s).
According to “Mr. Slusho”, much of the movie will revolve around the characters fleeing for their lives, not from the big one stomping the city, but from the “raptor-like” smaller versions hunting them down.
We didn’t publish the report because our sources told us not to run with it. We have now verified with a second source that the report is completely untrue. We love DreadCentral. They have had some good scoops in the past, but this appears to not be one of them. Both of my trusted sources have assured me that raptor like creatures are meant to be in dinosaur movies, and not 1-18-08. So fear not, Cloverfield will not be a repeat of the often mocked American Godzilla film.

Thanks Peter! You Rock!!

Thanks for clearing this up, but the quote isn’t about actual raptors. It’s mentioning smaller versions of the bigger monster which will be like raptors. They’ll be a smaller, more agile, version of the larget monster. Check with your source again, he/she may have taken “raptor-like” too litterally.

I think the film is inspired form “The Call of Cthulhu”
why?In the Slusho website there is a new message :SLUSHO IB BLOOP” And look in wiki what is bloop..
In addition, the slogan for the fictional product Slusho is “You can’t drink just six.” Typing http://www.youcantdrinkjustsix.com as the URL sends browsers to the same NOAA page linked to below, where it is possible to download a recording of the Bloop sound.
In the film “The Call of Cthulhu”(really old) all starts with that sound, the bloop.
cheers

Hey guys, I just found out something rather big (and, I think, new).
Go to 1-18-08.com, and click any of the pictures. Hold the mouse button and make a quick back-and-forth, back-and-forth motion. The picture will flip over; some of the pictures even have writing on the back.
Definitely check it out.

Also, the photo you attempt to flip needs to be on top of all of the other photos, or at least uninhibited by them (aka not underneath any). This works with a left-to-right and a up-and-down motion, too

Yeah, the pics have been doing that for a while. Now the site’s not even active. Go figure.

“Cloverfield” is a new Godzilla movie. It is not a remake or sequel of the 1998 film “Godzilla,” but a completely new Godzilla. There will also be a second monster: King Ghidorah. There are plenty of clues going around that should reassure you if you think about it.
“slusho zoom” (Ghidorah zooms in space to get to earth)
All of the whale comments on the slusho site refer to “Gojira” which means gorilla-whale.
Plus, in numerous Godzilla movies, someone initially mistakes godzilla for a whale on radar.
Also, the “Smallest Whale” ends up growing into a huge whale (like Godzilla becoming huge with radiation.)
The background of the slusho website has stripes that come together toward the center of the screen. You will also find this pattern in different areas of Godzilla.com.
The “Deep Sea Ingredient” refers to how Godzilla lives deep in the sea.
When you scroll over the different swimming characters, they reveal their thoughts to you. The cheese refers to Ghidorah’s golden scales, the oven mitt refers to Godzilla’s atomic ray (it’s hot), and the hammer resembles Ghidorah’s head, (long “handle” or neck, and two “prongs” or horns sticking out of the back of it’s head.)
In the 1-18-08 trailer, you do not see Godzilla arriving, but King Ghidorah arriving. The sudden BOOM is Ghidorah making impact on the earth’s surface (and causing an explosion in the process.) You also hear Ghidorah growling in the background as it begins destroying the city. The “fireballs” are flaming chunks of the meteor Ghidorah arrived in, that had exploded on impact.
There is also an obvious reference that many choose to ignore: Rob’s going to JAPAN, which is where Godzilla (the character) was created. The children on the Slusho site are also Japanese.
There are other clues out there, revealing more of the story and monster details, but YOU have to find them!
Until next time,
SlushoGrrr

Yeah, but no it isn’t Godzilla. JJ already confirmed at Comic Con that it wasn’t a Godzilla movie. He was inspired by Godzilla, he wanted to make an original monster movie for America that could compare to Godzilla. It’s not Godzilla.

Watch the trailer a person in it says: I saw it its a lion! Its huge~!
August 29th, 2007 at 6:53 am
No. The character says “I saw it. It’s alive. It’s huge!”
September 2nd, 2007 at 5:38 pm
It IS Godzilla.
JJ got the rights from Toho, because they thought he would do a better version of an American Godzilla.

I really hope it ISN’t godzilla theme…but just in case!
About King Ghidorah
Rest of this is on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_Ghidorah
Its alarming shrieks — a different ringing pitch for each of its heads — are among the genre’s most recognizable sound effects. Its design is due to special effects director Eiji Tsuburaya based on a minimal description in the script: “It has three heads, two tails, and a voice like a bell.”

I don’t understand what evidence some of these people are basing their theories on. How is it so hard to believe this is an entirely new earth vs. monster concept. Everything this trailer has presented for us has been fresh and certainly outlandish compared to any kind of marketing that a ‘new’ Godzilla movie or remake would bring. If this was a Godzilla movie, they would’ve come out and said it was a Godzilla movie when they premiered the trailer. They don’t need to hide the fact that it’s a Godzilla movie, there is too big a cult following for the Godzilla franchise. This is an entirely new idea. The line is “I saw it. It’s alive. It’s huge.” There is no obvious evidence of what they’re facing in the movie until you come to the close up of the two female characters towards the end. The can see some kind of reflection in the girl on the left’s eyes. Something that almost looks ‘parasitic’ in nature or even like an insect. This promises to be one of the most amazing concepts ever brought to life on the big screen and even has the potential to be one of the greatest movies of all time… from the trailer, it appears as though there could be very little to no hope for the human race, and that is epic. I don’t care what gay cowboy, super hero, chick flicks people are used to, “Cloverfield” certainly has potential. Throw your theories, and keep trying to disprove one another. I’ll be enjoying life, believing my own theories, waiting until 1-18-08. I call front row people.

There is a kind of truth in the Raptor statement, but they’re actually parasites off the “cloverfield”. Death from them is particularly nasty and prolonged.
