We just received a couple reports from the set of Cloverfield/1-18-08, which shot on Monday in Central Park. Check out the full set report complete with photos and videos after the jump. Note to Paramount Legal: All photos and video were taken on public property.

According to nooneimportant77, the production permits read:

“NAME OF FEATURE Cheese!
EXT. CENTRAL PARK
Greyshot Arch - West 61st Street
1:00 PM - 9:00 PM

EXT. CENTRAL PARK
Two friends run into a tunnel and hide
SPFX bricks fall
various fallen debris in the park”

Page 2 Reads:

“EXT. STREET
Central Park South b/t 7th Avenue -
Columbus Circle

EXT. STREET
A group of friends find that Central Park South is empty and abandoned
-A horse & carrage trots by
-3 scissor lifts & (1) 86′ condor for lighting
-20 BG cars”

According to nooneimportant77, the first sequence involved (minor spoiler warning) a very bloody Rob and an unidentified girl (presumably Lily, played by actress Jessica Lucas) huddled under an over pass in Central Park. They exchange some lines, before Rob starts saying “look at me look at me”. Cue dust and bricks which fall on them while they scream. Then the production crew hoisted a big black tarp over one side of the over pass, which our source thinks was used to simulate more rubble falling. Could this be the end of the movie? Is the video Camera discovered buried beneath the rubble? I’m guessing not. Our source also offered this but of unconfirmed information:

“There is one thing that i heard him say, i could be wrong. it is VERY possible i’m wrong but i think i heard him say “there is one up there” as though there is one of many monsters above. I COULD BE WRONG.”

Another interesting tidbit is that they were shooting with professional film or HD cameras, and not a consumer/prosumer grade camera. This leads me to believe that not all of the footage will be from the handheld camera POV. Or may-be all of it is up until the ending, and this is the ending?

“It was all shot with professional cameras and camera men, there was ONE camera that might be consumer grade that was placed so it looked like rob was holding it.”

nooneimportant77 has also uploaded some very dark video footage from the set:

The following photos come from ebobrow. Below are some pics of movie trailers marked with the names “Beth”,”Lily”, “Rob”, which are previously released character names. But there were more, one trailer was marked with”Guy” (Anyone have any idea who this is?), another JJ Abrams’ production company “Bad Robot”, and one that just read “director.” It’s interesting that they have chosen to use nondescript character names and not the actors real names for the trailers.

Update: Apparently Guy is not a name but a nickname - Eleven Bucks Guy. You may remember seeing actor Brian Klugman tell Rob in the trailer “you owe me 11 bucks”, hence the nickname. Guy also closes out the trailer with the ironic statement “this is going to be the best night ever”; also part of the cast; no Myspace account as yet.

Here is a No Parking posting for the Paramount Pictures production of “Cheese,” which is another Cloverfield production code-name.

“Then I saw a truck of equipment go into the park which I followed and discovered that they were setting up to film under a bridge which leads me to think that they somehow get to Central Park and rest under a bridge or hide there because I saw bricks on the ground and broken trees. “

See this guy? He is one of the people that tell you to be quite and stuff. He had a piece of paper. First, though, when I first arrived there I asked what was going on. They said that they were shooting a commercial called Cheese I knew it was a lie. The funny thing was when I was passing a truck I overheard one of the drivers say to someone it is 1-18-08 and they should see the trailer on Youtube. Then another guy said it was a indie film. The funniest thing I noticed was that on this guys paper when he sat next to me it said Circled “Cheese”. I knew it was the fake name but then I noticed the Paramount logo on the top right. It was funny to think that any other person who saw that paper would wonder why a BIG company would make a Cheese commercial.

Here are some photos from the closest place that our source could get to:

    Wow, I took those! :)

Great Job dude, kudos to u for posting this.

If you look in the second videos you can see what looks like a monster. It is right behind the guy and the girl getting makeup. People were talking about how there might be more than one monster, so maybe there is one huge monster that lays eggs and smaller monsters come. That may be what is behind the guy and the girl. Check it out.

Cool footage. The last time it were lots of interesting things around: non-official making-ofs, theories, fake posters - parallel viral marketing projects melting into each other.

I wonder if it’ll be on the bonus-DVD of the JJ Abrams Movie. ‘Cause the viral marketing story is great enough for its own documentary.

  5. Gravatar

    Nice photoshoots

  6. Gravatar

    Great Work!!!
I’d have some Dark Knight Photos to post but The Damn Chicago Police Confiscated my camera.

  7. Gravatar

haha wow i didn’t think they’d write up an article on some footage i got. and just to clear it up, there was NO monster on the set. nothing that looked like it nothing that could have stood in for it. it would have been cool but there wasn’t any monster there.

  8. Gravatar

That’s not a monster behind the actors in the second video. That’s just an ornamental part of the concrete bridge.

  9. Gravatar

I am quite surprised that they did not take your footage away or scold you for being there. This looks legit though, good work!

  10. Gravatar

Why can’t his name be Guy? As in “You owe me 11 bucks, Guy.”

And this might be a stupid question, but I’ll risk it: could they use professional cameras to simulate consumer cameras? Would it make post-production work easier?

Cool videos. I like the “boom” *screech* “boom” *screech”

  11. Gravatar

um i made a comment eariler but my browser is sort of messed up, its not a stupid question at all yes you can make professional cameras seem like consumer grade cameras, and thats probably what they will do for alot of the movie so the can have total control over the look and feel of the footage.

  12. Gravatar

I asked if I could take pics. They said yes but with no flash

  13. Gravatar

Dont know if this is the right place to post this but i am getting alot of sixes.

    Posters:
    Monstrous 1, Terrifying 2, Barbarous 3, Ferocious 4, Furious 5, Colossus 6

    Flavors of Slusho:
Blueberry Zoom 1, Chocolate Rage 2, Mikan 3, Nashi 4, Banana Anime 5, Strawberry Tasty 6

    Slusho Slogan:
    You Can’t drink just 6

Also one of the comments on Slusho states that Slusho is People

so maybe all of this is just irrelavent but then again maybe not

  14. Gravatar

jj said there are only 4 posters. i havent seen any proof of barbarous or colossus.

If you go to the 1-18-08 website, you can flip the pictures over. One of them has a message on the back…..

  16. Gravatar

There are two pictures that say something on the back. If you grab the white part og the photo edge and shake the picture it will flip over. Thw two pictures containing words are the one with ROB taking a shot, and the other photo is the one with the three friends (one girl and two guys). Shake both photos and you will see writing on the back of them

  17. Gravatar

I think we are indeed looking at footage from the end of the film. If you look at the other article on this site about leaked call sheet, you will see this scene described on there, and it’s noted that’s it;s the Ending.

My hypothesis is that the big black tarp being drawn up is to simulate the shadow of a large “?” approaching the two kids in the tunnel. If you’ll notice, the tarp is being drawn in front of the big spotlight.

Doesn’t look like this movie ends happily folks…

    New CLOVERFIELD trailer!

With what Im getting from the slusho.jp website, this kind of topic is very much going to be reality. Im not touching genetically engineered food.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=472191&in_page_id=1770

    Makes you think…

IMO the history at the slusho site pretty much gives some key things away. Perhaps some deep sea extract turns into a parasitic organism when it is warmed up as it is ingested. Then as the humans mutate they merge into a larger creature. Something along that lines. I hope the hype is worth it though. Ive never wanted to know so much about a film-great marketing scheme. Tease people into a frenzy and keep em hangin on lol.

  20. Gravatar

Hey, whose phone number is that on the backside of the “Bad Robot” trailer label? I can make out what looks like (212)265-0333.

It’s probably nothing. Just something that caught my eye.

  21. Gravatar

The other question I have is this: Considering that this shoot’s nicknamed “Cheese”, would it be logical to say that there may be two other shoots named “Hammer” and “Mitt” or something along those lines? After all, those are the two other thoughts displayed in the “Slusho” history page. Does this mean that there’s more than one location shoot under different names (we know about LA and NYC), or maybe there are decoy locations?

These are completely abstract rants and thoughts. Maybe they’ll lead to something. It’s more likely that they won’t. ^_^

  22. Gravatar

I saw the number and I believe its the number to the diner where the trailer is sitting infront of. If you look at the reflexion again you can see what seems to be a store/bodega/diner etc. it contains lights in green and yellow and you can almost see a window reflexion. I could be wrong though. Nice eye there.

P.S. I was analyzing the poster released by paramount. I viewed it in high definition and noticed a few things that were or seem to be out of place. I have circled them and if youd like to see them just send me an email with the subject line “Cloverfield; Secret Images” and i can forward the picture to you. (You might have to zoom in)

    email: jmartinez@cgshb.org

Hope this movie is worth all the searching and brain wrecking anticipation. I know it will be.

  23. Gravatar

Yeah, I think I’m over-analyzing everything a bit too much. ^_^ But yeah, send those along. I’ll e-mail you with the contact info.

  24. Gravatar

I think this is the end of the movie too. I read the “leaked” call sheet and this is it. It would be so much fun to yell out in the theater the end and say I have proof and stuff. Ok, not really

  25. Gravatar

Is it just me, or does the last video clip show the two actors getting up from the rubble sans clothing, after they dropped the black sheet?

  26. Gravatar

I think JohnnyRobot is right. Most likely that drop cloth was to protect the nude actors from being viewed by anyone than the filming crew. I think the scene in the call sheet ends with something to the effect of “then they focus on each other…” and that would fit in with a love scene. We could be wrong of course.

Was there a new trailer for this film? I cant wait to see this movie. I am just curious to see if my theories are close.

  27. Gravatar

I don’t think they are nude. I think that all the light-colored dirt that was dumped on them has just coated their clothes. It looks like skin tone inthe poor lighting.

Did you notice how the tarp was raised slowly as the dirt is dumped on them? I think that is to give the darkening effect of them being buried under more debris.

  28. Gravatar

thats not a monster be hind them you dipshit its a fuckin statue!

  29. Gravatar

I wish they would make a feature on the DVD with the viral marketing and if so, I would be so happy if they included these pics and videos. :)

  30. Gravatar

Wow . I guess I spoiled the ending. Whoops! :P

  31. Gravatar

i saw the movie …..i did enjoy it. it was pretty awesome even when i finally saw the monster. kool. my thing is did anyone see the very ending where they are in the farious wheel and the camera is out on the ocean and something feel into the ocean in the background shot!!!!????? i know i saw something but can not confirm it. it looked like it feel from the sky on the top right of the big screen. Please anyone let me know that im not loosing my mind. thanks

  32. Gravatar

Mike, no, you are not crazy. I saw it too and so did most of the people I went to see the movie with. A big splash happened right where you described it - right hand side of the screen, not quite to the horizon.
