Analysis: Third Photo Revealed on Cloverfield Website

A third photo (seen above) was added to the 1-18-08.com Cloverfield viral website today. All of the photos thus far have featured time codes. Let’s first take a look at the previous photos and analyze the clues.

The original photo showed a close-up of two wide eyed fearful young women at 12:36 am. Some people speculated that the two women were actually the same actress. This has been confirmed false. She can also supposedly be seen in the trailer at the party. Some people claim they can see something in between their heads. A monster may-be? How about their hair and a street light?

The second photo appeared a few days back and shows Rob drinking at his farewell party at 12:01am (35 minutes before the original photo). Notice the intentionally blurred Slusho t-shirt on the guy giving him the drink.

The recently added third photograph was taken at 12:48am, a whole 12 minutes after the first photo. The first “roar” occurred around 12:30am, and I would venture to guess that the end of the trailer cuts off around 12:40-45ish AM. So this would definitely be the furthest into the plot of the film that we have seen so far. And it looks like things get worse, much worse. The photo features a couple women walking through a fog of smoke, covering their mouths, while two men (possibly police or SWAT team?) run around in the background. It looks very reminiscent of 9/11.Â The two women in this new photo are not the two young women from Photo #1, nor were they visible (by my eye) in the Trailer’s party scene. I could be wrong.

I played around with the contrast and brightness of the photo and this is what I got (click on the photo to enlarge):

The man behind the woman in blue is clearly firing a gun back towards the camera which is why I speculate that he’s military or police. The guy on the way left also appears to be wearing a uniform. The fact that he’s running and the women are walking lead me to conclude (based on my limited clues) that he is also a proactive member of society (be it military, swat, police…etc).

Are there any more clues in this photo that we may be missing?

What is Cloverfield? For those of you living in a cave, Cloverfield is the code-name for a new Paramount monster movie produced by Lost co-creator JJ Abrams, which is being filmed from the point of view of a group of people with a handheld consumer video camera. The cast consists of mostly unknowns and newcomers. The film’s teaser movie trailer played in front of Transformers and didn’t feature a title. Viral websites have been found, the first of which is the film’s release date: 1-18-08.com, which has been updated periodically with timecoded photos.

The uniformed man is possibly firing facing his back to the camera, that's why the two females and the other man are coming forwards the direction of the camera.

i don't think it looks like he's firing a gun at all. looks like he's covering his mouth, to me, like the women in the photo and the other guy. he may be too vaguely lit to really tell which direction he's facing or what he's doing with his hands, to begin with.

this just may be a really bad photo, but its difficult to to make out the womens face on the left in the blue. In fact, if you zoom in, it doesnt even look like a women at all, unless she is holding something to her face like a mask. I don't want to speculate too much, but it looks like some sort of creatures face, kind of disturbing. Does anyone else find the womens face to be peculiar?

It could be a camera he is holding. Its unclear as to whether its a gun or not to me.

That's a great analysis Peter. I like it very much. I pretty much agree with everything but I think the man with the gun is aiming for an unknown creature or thing to emerge from the smoke.

If you look behind the running man, the contrast is such that you can make out what looks like a large fire burning tall. Look veeery closely. If it's there, the smoke it fading it out almost entirely.

If the military guys are shooting at stuff on the ground, then that must mean that IN ADDITION to the giant monster, there must be something else going on at ground level......either smaller monsters (offspring?) or infected people a'la "28 Days Later".

The fact is that this date 1-18-08, is very intriging to me from a
numberology standpoint. When added, the sum of these digits is is 18.
This movie is both scheduled to release on the 18th day of the year and
judging by the date on photos, seems to be set on the 18th as well. 18
is the sum of 6+6+6. As in 666. Futhermore, there are there are 2
numbers that show up twice in this sequence (1-18-08), 1 and 8. The
number 11 has a stigma of being an evil or unlucky number (9/11).
The number 88 also has an evil auora surronding it, being that it is often
used by Nazi groups as a symbolic number meaning "Heil Hitler", seeing
that H is the 8th letter of the alphabit. I said from the get go, this movie
looks far too horrific and appocoliptic to be about youth-freindly Godzilla
or Voltron. I think we're talking Revelations here.

Another site featuring Kali Yuga prophesy (Kali Yuga is the Hindu endtime, similar to Christianity's Revelations) had these to say; (i only included examples that sounded feasibly applicable in a movie)

1. There will be a rain of fire (sound familiar?). Following this a strange thing will happen. 20 feet tall humans will appear and claim to be Kalki. (this is in India).

2. A huge comet will be born in the south; several people will die due to this.

5. The Sun will appear like a green colored human being (?)

6. Moon will be seen on a new moon day.

8. Stones will break and fly about like crows and eagles; Stone horses and chariots will start to run. (the statue of liberty isn't stone, but how would a prophet from long ago know that eh?)

if you are using a laptop, i noticed on the newest picture if you look at it from a different angle the background images gain color, not just white.

I used google earth to look at the buildings in the video exploding and they are all surrounding Ground Zero. The explosion seems to be at the old site of the Twin Towers. Maybe this has something to do with the nature of the monster, maybe not. Just my thoughts but it is something to think about, ya know, being a place where so many died.

also, the date 1-18-08 and the number 6 seem to be popping up a lot together between the 1-18-08.com website and slusho.com. Just saying that if you divide 11808 by 6 you get 1968. Again, nothing specific but maybe someone else might be able to use this info for something.

Ok, so, I ran the image through photo shop, I darkened it to a major extreme, and what I got was this. The man who is farthest in the background is in uniform, he is firing a gun, most likely a rifle. what he is firing at seems to be a large gray mass. The next closest person is anothr person in uniform ( I would guess that both of the uniformed people are millitary or police) he is running toward us, jumping over a piece of rubble, or possiby a curbe. Next are the two women, them are covering their mouthes, and from what I can see, they are walking fairly quickly. Now let me talk about the background: The section that is behind the running man in uniform is red and black, suggesting an explosion, there is also a large gray mass roughly the size of the man firing the rifle, this mass seems to be the target of the rifle fire. The background to the right of the two running women is incredibly bright, which leads me to believe it is some form of electrical explosion.

At the 1-18-08 website there are currently three images. Flip each of these upside down and you'll find the number six embedded once in each. Three images, three embedded sixes. 666.

If you flip the picture of the guys drinking, you can notice that the words "WE'LL MISS" become "SSIW 77,3M" - maybe it means nothing, maybe you can make something out of it...

Quick question. If one of the officers is firing a gun and the other officer is running from something (possibly an explosion), why are the two women in the same proximity walking? Remember 95% of communication is non-verbal.

Did anyone else hear "It's a lion, I saw it, It's huge." around time 1:21 of the trailer, and then the roars and noises are clearly a male lion's, anyone whos been to a zoo during the summer and spring months would know this by the puffs and rolls of thier roars as well as the quick growl at the start as well as the long belowing/echo at the end that carries all the way to the other side of the zoo, oh and the best place to hear this sound is right before you see the girl yell "WHERES..." she says jason or jaydon or james but is imediatly cut off by the roar!!!

Walter: My impression from the picture was either that the girls are walking quickly, you know, like a fast walk. Either that, or the explosions are recent, and they haven't noticed the distruction going on behind them yet.

Jason: The person says " I saw it, it's A LIVE, it's huge" Not "I saw it, It's a lion, it's huge." Ok, I just wanted to make that clear. It's "A LIVE" NOT "A LION."

Kaji13: watch that part of the trailer again.. a woman's voice says "what is
it? is it coming this way?" to which a response of "I saw it, it's a LION,
it's huge" makes more sense than for him to respond to her question
by saying "i saw it, it's alive, it's huge" as that doesn't answer what it is.

it's all iffy.... the audio isn't easy to make out completely. maybe
someone should isolate the dialog in that part of the trailer.

Ya, I've been wanting to isolate the audio for a while, but I haven't figured out a way to, short of recording it over the speakers and then upload it to my computer and THEN isolate the audio, but by then the audio would be total crap.

Three photos people, and three sixes. There is a six embedded in each photo, which can only be seen as a six when you flip the photo upside down. I'm surprised at the lack of analysis of this. The first photo contains an upside down image of a six on the girl (on the right)'s face (just below her eye). The second is the most obvious and thus is the one people are harping on constantly

The third is found on the face of the girl in the center of the third picture. Turn it upside down, it's quite obvious (once you do the 'Slusho flip').

if you tilt the screen (if you have a laptop) or just bend down and look at pic number 3 when you tone down the hue of it, you'll be able to see fire in the background, and the picture itself is alot more clear

i've looked at the third photo and once it's seen from an angle you can definately tell that the guy in the background (or what apears to be a guy) is walking backwards...i'm very sure about this. And by the way the girl in blue does seem to be holding something in front of her face doesn't she?

hey everyone listen the guy that seems to be walking backwards, isnt firing a gun or much of any weapon, he's shielding his face from the explosion. Try copying the photo to word and change the brightness to 33% and the contrast to 95%...once you've done this you can see his face engulfed in flames.

its clear that something is distorting the look of the girl in blue's face. When you copy the page to word and keep the brightness but change the contrast to 100% ( to better see the changes in the fog) you see the girls face covered by something and the other womans face in better view. It seems as though she's opening her mouth out wid as though screaming or something.

So...who has any ideas on what the monster might just be? im just trying to gather as many suggestions as possible, even if they sound stupid.

So far the suggestions people have sent me are: the lost smoke monster, chimera, Godzilla, Cthulhu, Voltron, Aliens, Michale Jackson, a pokemon, popogeegeeoh, and J.J Abrams wife.

Any other suggestions?

All i have to say is that MY BIGGEST HINT(s) i have seen are Rob going away to JAPAN and the ROAR!! Just think Japan, roar what comes to mind with those two symbols. Oh and its taking place in New York.......again...what other movie had a "monster" in New York.

Here are my thoughts I really doubt the lion theory, mainly because with the huge secret of what the monster is going to be, do you really think they'd say what it is going to be in the first thing most people are going to see about the movie. Also as to "It's alive not making any sense, it would if it's not something you'd expect to be alive, maybe something people see commonly but don't give a second thought to.
