Get Smart Teaser Movie Trailer

 Get Smart Movie Trailer

When I was a kid I use to watch a lot of Get Smart on Nick at Nite. Now-a-days, most people under 25 don’t even know what Get Smart is. And at first a big Hollywood adaptation of the show sounded like a horrible idea. Heck, it didn’t work out so well for Bewitched, another great 90’s era Nick at Nite show. Steve Carell was cast in the lead, opposite Anne Hathaway and The Rock. In addition to the great cast, I started to read interviews about the script and production. The more I learned, the better it sounded. And now we have our first look at the teaser trailer. This has the potential to be the next Austin Powers. Am I the only one excited to see this movie? Check out the teaser after the jump.

You can watch the teaser in annoying Windows Media High Definition on MSN.com.

I gotta admit.. the bit with the phone made me chuckle.
  • It's too bad we won't be getting a Don Adams cameo (unless they do a Natalie/Nat King Cole thing). Man, I haven't watched Get Smart since I was about eight years old. I think that was before Nick at Nite even existed. Carrell looks like he's playing it awfully seriously in this trailer. Adams always had a bit of goofiness which was kind of the heart of the show - at least that's how I remember it. I hope that Carrell doesn't play it without that wink. It shouldn't be Inspector Clouseau - Maxwell Smart is not that much of a bumbler
  • You're not alone, Mr. Sciretta, as I'm definitely interested in seeing the remake/adaptation of one of my favorite all-time shows (ok, from way back in my childhood, but you get my point). Steve Carrell as Maxwell Smart? Genius casting. Not sure about Anne Hathaway, but hey, she's easy on the eyes. And the Rock has proven himself an able straight man. Plus Adam Arkin as the Chief? More genius casting.

I was horridified when I saw bewitched. It was horrible and a while later out pops news of a Get Smart film adaption with steve Carrell, Anne Hatheway, The Rock and Alan Arkin. All great actors, but yet I was stilll hesitant about viewing it but now I can'y wait for the movie. GREAT TEASER!

I guess I'm one of the few under 25 who have seen this show. Probably because one day when I was about 14 my dad made me sit down and watch a marathon. I have to say for an older tv show, it was amazing. I cant wait if they can do the tv show justice.
  • This looks like it might actually be a good remake. Steve Carrell is a great choice for Maxwell Smart. Now I'm going to have to find the older episodes so I can remember it clearly. Oh joy, another reason to watch TV!
  • Jon
Do they have the show out on DVD by any chance?
  • Westy
I look like Mr. Big! Will you be my Carrie?
  • Westy
Hello! I look like Mr. Big!
  • Natalie
Hey, I just got back from seeing Harry Potter 5 and there was an add for get smart on before the movie started. I don't think I ever laughed so hard when he threw that phone and said supriaaa SO FUNNY!
  • Amy
The first season is out on DVD through A&E i believe. The casting is great, it was originally going to be Will Ferrell which would have been awful. Steve plays the "clueless that i'm clueless' really well, which is what maxwell was all about, trying to play it cool when he goofed.

no, the dvds are through TimeLife here: http://www.timelife.com/catalog/product.jsp?pro...

Who did they get to play Hymie, the robot?

I am sooo excited about this movie!!! I remember watching it when I was in like 4th grade on Nick@Nite!!! It was my favorite show ever and I hope the movie is just as good!!! :))))

I am so excited about this movie!! i used to watch this show all the time cause i used to watch a lot of tvland when i was younger- i think there must have been a marathon or something- but somehow i got hooked- im probably another one of the few under 25 who want to see this movie- but i think im just as excited about this movie as people who grew up watching this- plus i love Steve Carell- hes hilarious and so perfect for this role- i just dunno how im gonna wait a whole year for this to come out
  • Actually, the trailer wasn't that funny. But I used to love Get Smart on TV and am looking forward to this movie.

Having The Rock in this makes it even more interesting. Wish they had shown more of the movie, however.

And will Steve Carell use the same voice that Don Adams used?

Lol, I love The Office and am a big Steve Carrel fan . Thought the trailer was hilarious, especially the phone bit. Must have watched it about 5 times. What's so great is that Steve is a genius at facial expressions, which he lends to The Office. Seems like Get Smart starring Michael Scott... Can't Wait
  • Amazing...the teaser...actually looks enjoyable. Could this be a Get Smart remake that *won't* have Don Adams spinning in his grave? I'm certainly looking forward to the movie. I'm *not* a Carrell fan, but he might be competent enough to imitate that classic Adam's deadpan/slapstick routine he did so well. I'm a little wary of having The Rock in the movie, or of the backstory. (86 as an accountant come agent for Control?) Let's hope this movie hasn't "missed it by *that* much."

This looks fantastic. I loved Get Smart, i mean, Mel Brookes, nuff said. This movie will be a major it with many sequels. Trust me.

as far as I'm concerned, Get Smart was the greatest comedy series, and perhaps tv series of any genre, in the history of the idiot box. I must say I was laughing with tears in my eyes during the teaser, not because it was inherently that funny but because of all my background familiarity with the character. But in the long run, for the new movie, I suspect that people like me will be the toughest judges since the bar has been set so high.

Whatever happens, one problem is that Don Adams was so absolutely perfect for the role and created such a unique, distinct and hilarious personality - that anyone else's best effort can only fall short. I just hope though they do the series justice and perhaps pique interest among the youngsters to have a look at the old series (which is now out on DVD).

i can not wait for this movie i love the t.v. show
  • TD Pittsford
I hate remakes. They are always poor imitations of the original. THere was no Clouseau like Peter Sellers and only Richard Harris could be Dumbledore. HOWEVER if the teaser for "Get Smart" reflects the tone of the movie, count me in. I'll buy the popcorn!

Don't tell me they're making a "Get Smart" movie!... wait.. I gotta answer my shoe.....Hello?.. What??!?! I told you not to tell me!
  • Ari L
    Best case scenario: Austin Powers
    Worst case scenaio: Pink Panther

Odds? Probably somewhere between the two. But Pink Panther shouldn't have been remade, and this actually looks respectably good.

im very curious to see this movie. steve carrell appears to be the right choice for maxwell smart. the teaser had me and my three boys laughin' hard

I'm 23 and I loooove Get Smart. I used to watch it all the time on Nick @ Nite when I was a kid. I even have Barbara Feldons' (who played Agent 99 in the orginial) autograph.

Anyways, I hope this film will live up to my expectations. Steve Carell as Max is a perfect choice, so I have high hopes. *crosses fingers*
  • I have high hopes too in this movie. But judging from the trailer i can bet we won't be disspointed: Steve Carell is definitely the man we need in the role of Agent 86! :)

Just got my TimeLife DVD set of the entire Get Smart series. I too, haven't seen an episode for about 30 years, so you can believe I will be in line at the box office when it's finally released. I'm curious to see how a show from a different time, with no sexual innuendo and nothing but good, clean, slap-your-knees type of humor will get modernized.
  • Stoked
I have not seen the show for years. One of my favorites, with the first ever wireless shoe phone. It has a great cast and I can't wait for it to be out.
  • Amy
one of you stated that there was no sexual inneundo, i beg you to reconsider after watching them again, you just have to look for it more, but believe me it's there. Originally 99 was supposed to be 69, but NBC thought it too suggestive.
  • soroush
    It's prefect...I can't wait for this movie

I can't wait for the "Cone Of Silence" !
