 Sicko

Michael Moore appeared on Oprah  Tuesday afternoon to promote Sicko. Not only do we get a sit-down interview with the director, but we also get a glimpse at a couple new video clips from Sicko. If you missed it, the video clips (18 minutes) have turned up on GooTube, and we have them for you after the jump. I would recommend that anyone not interested in seeing the film to check out the clips. Sicko hits theaters on June 29th 2007.

The first clip features what appears to be the opening of the film. Moore talks about the profit motives of the insurance companies, the non-partisan response to the film thus far, not being able to get insurance for the documentary, and the defensive preparation from the insurance companies. We also get to see another clip from the film which features a former medical director in the healthcare field who testified about her duties to find medical loopholes to turn down claims. Moore makes his pitch to eliminate profit motivated medical insurance, and talks about where America ranks in the world for healthcare.

The second clip begins with Moore talking about the incredible reaction he has received so far on this film. Oprah called it a “more thoughtful film”, and Moore agreed that it’s not a partisan issue movie. The next clip shows a clip from the segment of the film which concentrates on the 9/11 rescue workers who have respiratory illness, but aren’t being helped by the US government. Moore takes a boat filled with sick rescue-workers to Guantanamo Bay, the only place on US soil with free healthcare. Moore tells Oprah that it is madness that they give better healthcare to the people responsible for 9/11 than the people who were heroes and helped. He then told Oprah about the problems with the US Government. They end the discussion saying that we need to make the country more about We than more about Me.

I’m amazed that Moore would finally admit that the people being held at Guantanamo were the ones responsible for 9/11 and not George W. Bush.

    bob, good point.

it does, however, backup his assertion in this movie, so there it is.

i appreciate the fact that he isn’t playing partisan politics in this movie, and look forward to seeing it.

Moore isn’t “admitting that the people being held at Guantanamo were the ones responsible
for 9/11″–he’s saying that the people “we ACCUSE of” being responsible for 9/11 are getting
better health care than those who tried to help after 9/11.

Yet another editorial disguised as a documentary. Yet again the unthinking masses will be duped by Moore’s brand of half truths and slick editing to illustrate his agenda.

And what better way to promote it than to the zombies who watch Oprah?

wow dan, that was harsh…I havent watched Oprah for six years now, and was very impressed. “the sheep” need the truth the most, wouldn’t you agree?

I thank you Mr Moore, for your compassion, time, and energy - well spent from my perspective. I belive you take your responsibilities as an American Citizen seriously and at the very least you are shinning light in a very dark place. I am grateful for your vision of a solution to a Global issue.

Michael Moore’s slick editing vs. Fox News’ slick editing. Oh and don’t forgetjust about every other news program that distorts the truth to make a more appealing story, mostly without any accountability towards accurate depictions. I think Moore’s probably closest thing to honesty you’re going to find in terms of edited content.

Oprah is greedy, she banned the Sicko video interview from youtube both parts. Her people cited copywrite bulshit.

This message goes out to all those who bash on micheal moore…the man just states the facts how they are…..and it gets me frustrated when people disagree with him on the issue of free health car. There is not one thing u can say about sicko that is not true…all he wants is free HEALTH CARE.And last but certenly not least i got one message for all you people that support bush, he uses u all to gain personal profit and yes he is the reason 9/11 happened if bush was never put into office( i say put because gore actually won they just threw out 17,000 african americans votes and decided bush one)9/11 would have never happened, its time u wake up and see it. You no there was a time when our government could over throw the Nazi’s and its taken us 5 fucking years and we havent even secred iraq.
