Was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows LEAKED onto the Internet? I have found a 281 page e-book which claims to be the beginning of J.K. Rowling’s final book in the Harry Potter saga has shown up on an internet website ebookscottage.com. I have read most of the Potter books but am unable to confirm if this internet release is real or fake. I find it very odd that anyone would write 281 pages about Harry Potter just to fool a bunch of people. I’m hoping someone, possibly a Harry Potter fan, can confirm or deny the authentic of this possible leak.
UPDATE: It turns out that the 281 pages are part of a fan created fictional work. Thanks to the slashfilm.com readers for some nice detective work. It still amazes me that a fan would spend THAT MUCH time on a piece of fan fiction.
The official US edition is 784 pages in length. So if real, this leaked portion could be the first third of the book. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows hits store shelves on July 21st 2007.

It definitely isn’t real, or it would have made the news on all the fansites. No, this happens with every book release. People claiming they have unreleased portions of the book and such.. These things are very very unlikely to happen due to the high precautions taken by JK Rowling and the publisher. As to why someone would write 280 pages to fool people.. I don’t think they did it for this reason. It was probably a fan fiction that they or anyone else wrote earlier and this person just thought it would be cool to pass it for a leak at this time as we’re nearing release. Fansites didn’t even take the time to deny this. They know it happens all the time. If you go to the IMDb boards, you’ll find a couple of similar things too.

Nope, definitely not real. There are mistakes I don’t think JKR would make. I read about 30 pages and it was pretty painful. Not JKR’s style at all.

The Admin Team of PhoenixSong.net have recently learned that there is a “leaked” file of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows floating around the internet, specifically in bit torrent form. While people obviously have different opinions on “spoilers” in general, this one is especially troublesome because it is actually a plagiarized version of our own Melindaleo’s fan fic, “The Seventh Horcrux”, available legitimately here at PhoenixSong: http://www.phoenixsong.net/fanfiction/story/3517/ Please be aware that Melindaleo was in no way involved in re-titling her fan fic as the seventh book or in trying to pass it off as a leaked copy of the seventh book. Someone else did this without her knowledge or permission, and she has been quite upset and worried, especially about the fact that people may be being duped by this situation.

I have 3 versions - one 281 page version (as discussed here), one 547 page version, which seems to be an extension of the earlier version (would u call that fanfic again?), and another one containing 659 pages, and the version who sent me this version claims that the Reuters reporter who first reported the leak of the HP7 book, sent him the ebook. It is quite possible that all are fanfics, and it is also possible that one of them, or could be part of them, are real.

i’ve read the 659 page version and i’m pretty sure jkr wouldn’t write such raunchy material, i know the characters may have gotten older but the book is still aimed towards the a younger market! (as well as old).
Ps. except for the lovy dovy stuff it was pretty good, the fake is worth a read if not just to help pass the time till we get a hold of the real thing

I have download some versions in the emule network. And I got one that has the book till chapter 28.
It is the book, I am pretty sure.

I won´t spoil saying who, but there are two deaths on harry´s side in it.
I don´t recommend downloading it, because it will only make you more eager to buy the book.

I can confirm that there is an ebook floating around that is 659 pages in length. I have read it, and although it does not seem to be the final version of the book, considering there are some authors notes in the text, it looks complletely genuine. I can not say if there are some chapters missing or not, because I do not have the final release, but this one does end and put closure on the series, so I would say it is the full version, but it may just be shorter because it is in ebook form. I will not give any information on the book though, I will just simply point to you where I got it, because I dont want to be sued. I found it on a torrent at demonoid.com

Definitely a fake. I’ve read each harry potter book at least 10 times, some more than that. Judging by the first few paragraphs, I can say with all certainty that this “leak” is fake. It’s written in a style completely not that of JKR. One of the biggest hints that it’s not real is all the sex talk. Another huge hint is how it starts. It always, ALWAYS, goes back to starting with harry (be it a dream/vision sequence).
Don’t bother with it.

Could anybody tell me, in one of those supposedly “leaked” e-book, did they reveal who R.A.B. is? Just don’t tell me who they said he is. the 281 pages version leak remains a fanfiction unless it’s authenticity is proven. but the fact that the fanfic was published in the internet some time before the confirmed spoilers/plot details from different interviews of Ms.Rowling were posted in the internet make it look very suspicious. STILL it may be the genuine work plagiarized or it may just be disguised as a fanfic. i think this fanfiction may best be criticized as the closest to the canon continuation of book6. it answers unresolved plot details from previous books. the raunchy sex scene may be justified because the protagonist is of age in this timeline.

guys….just wait for the new book to come out, don’t waste ur time on something like this. i jumped to the last chapter immediately and i could tell that it’s nothing more to read (considering 20% of the book consists of sex, flirting, and stuff like that). get it out of ur mind. the book is coming out in 2 months. and btw, i saw the movie trailer, it looks stupid caz every character is lack of its characteristic (ever since they changed director). only potter fans are going to watch it because they love the book….sigh…..

Hmm.. I don’t know. I saw a leaked deathly hallows and it was around less than 700 pages. and it has 34 chapters. Pretty complete. At least 2Mb in size. I have downloaded it last week and was pretty impressed at the book. I find it difficult to believe that the book could be fake because the settings of the story is true to JKR’s work. Although i’m not saying this is the real leaked version, i find it hard to imagine not to be real so i’m just waiting for the real book to be published. The action and revelations are so intense that it kept me begging for more. In my opinion this is the real thing because the file that i have downloaded still has the annotations of JKR. Don’t flame me for this. Just airing my thoughts. Anyway, i’ve already reserved a copy of the book so it would make no difference if it’s fake or not.

i heard R.A.B stood for regulus aberforth black, sirius’s cousin, another death eater turned good, who stole the locket and places it in the smith family house in diagon alley.. borzes and w/e its called where voldemorte use to work.. i have a version that starts off with harry and finishes with dudley dursley making headlines killig his mother and father… might be next voldemorte anyhow, the one i seen harry survived n stuff so yea… but it was a nice twist, fanfic or not, was a good read, mine had 34 chapters and a epilogue explaining what happens afterwards… pretty small

I’m reading the 659 pages version. And i don’t really care if it’s the real thing or not, anyway i’ll buy it when it will be published. And as Drake said earlier, it’s a leak convincing because i stay glued on my chair and it’s a story enough complete to be considered as real. And for those who complain about the flirting, i would found really strange if there was no more than a kiss on each cheek, don’t forget they are almost adult, and hormones begin to manifest themselves;(and the autor has always makes his character deal with every of their deep personal feelings) so i will not be scandalized if in the real version if they are snogging session. I think everybody wants to know if Hermione will unfreeze one day lol. Anyway, read it if you can’t afford to wait, and if it’s not the real book, you will just had the chance to read two different end!

Pradeep, the reason why it is believable is because the writing style is like jkrowling. Otherwise it would not be successful. If you are a faker of course you’ll do your best to make it look like jkrowling’s work. Otherwise why do a fake one if your writing style is different from the original one.

It is an excellent story. One chapter even mirrors the US cover of the book. If
it were not for all the author’s disclaimers I would have sworn this was it. Take
a read. At least it’s something to do until the final release. This author also
has several other pieces. None quite as long as this. However, they have 3

Come on, people! Do not stamp this as containing “too much sex”! Definitely there is sex with Julie, but that is carefully and subtly written, and the choice of words kinda match JKR’s own! It’s not what you would call vulgar, it’s an artistic depiction of lovemaking between two souls. And come to think of it, would it really be odd if JKR includes some sexual content in her last book? Or at least hints and allusion to sex? After all that kissing that happened in the last two episodes, somehow I have the feeling that Rowling will (or rather, might) go a little further this time! ;) And besides, now she knows that Dan Radcliffe won’t be shy to do any kind of intimate scenes - he’s already done it once! :P

Hellooo, i just read 659 pg version(not entirely word by word).Most of the discussions between Ron,hermione,Harry & ginny were clearly not convincing that they are written by JKR…but the fights for horcruxes were good.I was surprised that it has more romance compared to any previous books.

i agree with what debadeep said. The fact that we haven’t seen any such scenes in JKR’s previous books doesn’t mean we won’t encounter these scenes in Deathly Hallows. consider that the protagonist, Harry, is of-age in this timeline. Would you rather expect the usual juvenile representation of love making. i don’t think so.
Also, This alleged leak (the 281-page version) clearly answers all loose ends. Don’t you think?
The Chapel. Draco’s return, Snape’s remorseful character, Neville’s death, Quintapeds, Goat Patronuses, the poem on Chapter26… these are all foreshadowed in earlier books….

it so happens that in my travels on the internet i have found what may or may not be the “leaked book”. Unlike the one discussed above this one contains 700 and something pages (i lost count). If this book is not a leak, some fan out there wrote a hell of a book. Even if it was fan fiction it was exceptional. Ill have to be honest with you, if it isnt an actual leak, ill be disappointed if J.K.Rs is any different to this one.

About the 8th book… it will be a kind of encyclopedia of magical world of Harry, and not a book like we use to know. But, if the book has about 750 pages, like I read somewhere in an interview JKR gave, i’m not sure we will get a prologue. I mean if we will get a glimpse of the life of the characters further in time, after Voldemort defeat. 750 pages is not a lot to narrate an entire year with details about the vast and complex universe of Harry. What about the strange arch, Percy, the full story of Why-Snape-Became-So-Bad, why Dumbledore accept to sacrifice itself to give credit to Snape’s allegiance (Yes, I know, there was the Unbreakable Vow, but I really want to know the reason why Snape is important enough to die for, the fact he can block his mind to Voldemort (can he? I don’t remember it has been mentioned) could be a part of the reason, and a “love” reason could be the other part), the two fume snakes which represent Harry’s spirit (and indication about the Horcruxes?), Ginny, Ron and Hermione silent love and.. and many other things I don’t remember at this time.
Thinking about this, just for fun, now that Dumbledore is dead, what or who will counterbalance? Snape? Why not… Suppose a moment he is a good guy, Dumbledore’s death gave him the “privilege” to be near Voldemort. “To set the fox to mind the geese” they said. Giving Snape the ultimate role, chance of giving proof of is true allegiance by fooling Voldemort. This idea in romantic enough to please Dumbledore’s way of seeing thing… and by who Snape’s has been love, and how… why Snape’s decide to use occlumency, to hide his hatred
for Voldemort… because he kill this “love”? That’s why I’ll not be surprised if Snape save Harry in any kind of way. 750 pages to like Snape is it enough? lol

I have read the 659 version and enjoyed it. In my opinion it was a fake though, some of the language ‘w@nk3rs’ is a very strong word for a childrens book however this version could be tehe adult version. The last word was meant to be ’scar’, it was in the penultimet chapter but the final one was just a epiloge. The writer was extremly good at writing about the Horcruxes however I felt that the writer concertrated more on the relationships than the horcruxes/story. Which is what most fanfic writers do, most of the fanfics that I have read have been based around a charaters (love) relationship with another charater. JKs books are not like this they concerntrate on Harry and his feelings, well it is Harry Potter after all! The righting still is unlike JKs in some ways but like JKs in others, I don’t know if you lot noticed but alot of the book was written as if Ginny was the main character because when Harry was in bed a sleep it would in some way be her POV, what other Harry Potter books do this?
I think that the writer is very talented and seems to have read all the things that JK has said about Harry Potter 7 in interviews but I personaly would not have spent so long on a fic.
If the actual book is ike this I will be happy. I really want this to be fake even though I enjoyed reading it. This version is definatly a FAKE because what does Deathly Hallows mean?? Correct me if i’m wrong but I don’t even remember it being mentioned which elaborates the fact that this is a FAKE!!

I have read the 659 version and enjoyed it. In my opinion it is a fake…
There is no mention of deathly hallows (correct me if I’m wrong). The writing style is different and more time is spent describing the (love) relationships between characters instead of the storyline/horcruxes. Which is what most fanfic writers do! In my opinion the language is different; I do not believe that JK would write ‘W@nk3rs’ in one of her books. The thing that makes it fake for me is the missing description of ‘deathly hallows’.
I hope that the actual book is as good as the fan’s fic; in fact I know it will be better! The only problem now is that I won’t be able to get this fic out of my head.

Now i don’t know which is real or not. But anyway, i think the “missing pages” book is one and the same. If you are not JKR, then you are one of the best writer out there for this genre for me. Fanfiction or not, i still love reading that book. Can’t wait to compare though.

Seriously, all of you need to chill out and stop looking for a manuscript for the seventh book in the Harry Potter series. All of them are fakes. It doesn’t take longer than a paragraph of reviewing someones work to tell that the style is different. I am sure that if a real Harry Potter manuscript for the seventh book got on the internet and was circulated among adoring fans that the person who had the manuscript would be prosecuted since I’m sure JKR does not send her works before the initial book release to just anyone. Don’t read fan fiction either. It’s just unsuccessful spin-offs deviating from the real storyline. Plus, why would Harry Potter have a blissful ending anyways? In an interview she said that there would be no life after Hogwarts. Theres no “Hogwarts University” that many would hope for either.

Geezus, don’t flame me for this. But i hope you are reading the comments above. Most of us know it is fake. And if it is real it doesn’t take a genius to know how it was stolen or copied. The main point here is the book is good. If the real book is as good as this then i’ll be satisfied. Plus you have never read the above mentioned fake book for us to hear that kind of comment. Are you scared that the fake or fanfiction would be better than the original Harry Potter book?! Hmm, that’s a thought….

3)No. I’m not scared that a fanboy or girl made an attempt to emulate JKR’s style and tried to produce a book derived from her works.
I also read some of this fan ficton and it was complete garb. Just my opinion.

OK, I’m a die-hard potter fan, People say they’re read potter books 10x each and i think that they’re embellishing a bit, but I’ve roughly read each book about 6 times each. When I read about this fake 659 page leak I laughed thinking it was no where near anything JK would do. I started reading the first few pages on Friday night, it’s now Sunday night and i just pealed my eyes away from it. It was extraordinary. I was blown away by almost everything that happened. (albeit the romance scenes were more intense than rowling) but it just added to the characters motives. I’d be shocked and extremely happy is the real one is half as good. You people need to read it fully, not just a random paragraph in the middle, or the ending epiloug. Start from the beginning, and read for about 40 minutes, and I dare you to stop. And I dare you to say confidently that Deathly Hallows will be better than this fanfic.

So, it seems that the 548 page version is exactly the same as the 281 page version ….. it’s not an extension of it. In the 548 version, the text just has bigger font to make it have more pages. None of these two are complete stories.
The 660 page version “The Seventh Horcrux” is different from the other two and has the full story.
Both these stories are good to read, but they definitely do not come to an actual JK Rowling work.

i found the book based on all the facts and rumors that have been circling the
internet. It was still absolutely amazing. The romantic scenes however did not belong in a children’s book. There was also hardly any dialog in it and Ron sounded like a broken record continuously
adding “mate” on the end of every sentence.

I laid hands on what may or may not be a copy of this Deathly Hallows finale to the acclaimed Harry Potter Series. To be honest with you, I do not find it credible at all. Although, the .pdf file is 659 pages long and complete with well edited material and chapter separation, i wouldnt count on it. I would be more than happy to distribute this possibly fake copy of the Deathly Hallows with anybody who is interested. If you ask me though, I’d say it was fan made, but who can be too sure really. Ok, I have read the fake version as well as painfully read through the real book(the photographed copy, which the camera flash and sometimes blurred text were painful) Needless to say I don’t recommend reading through 370 some odd photographed pages, but they are out there if you can find them.
Anyway, they are not the same, and the real book is better as one would expect, but I also enjoyed the fan version. The real book does not read like a romance novel.
Scar is the 11th to last word in the real book.

Apparently you haven’t really explored much fanfiction to be actually “amazed” at 281 pages. There are multiple excellent quality fics that are *much* longer. Some are true epics that are longer than the whole series itself.

As i was going through wikipedia today to update myself on book7, i came
to know that a seven-page epilogue was scanned and leaked on the
internet on July 14 and three days later today, on July 17, the entire book
was leaked online. Its just couple of days left, i think we can wait that long
for real one.

It is very unlikely that it is real. How could some random person get ahold of it?We should ask J.K.Rowling to confirm whether it’s real or fake. Although I did see a picture of Harry’s parents at the front of one of the ”chapters” that looked pretty real. If it is fake like I expect it is, I wonder how that was pulled off. We’ll find out in four days.

Hi, I found a website from canada showing pics of the book, and the whole epilogue in pics, i think this might be the real thing and if it is I am really happy with the ending :), lots of predicted deaths are false according to this…. couldnt wait any longer without any potter update so it was fun to read even if turns to be false though i dont know wha anybody would make the effort if it was not the original

Dobby the elf thing is killed. Voldemort kills Snape. Dumbledore returns as one of those portraits in his room. Harry kills a DeathEater with the Crucio Curse!
Snape is a hero. Dumbledore put on a cursed ring back during the Half Blood Prince days and it was going to kill him. He trapped the curse in his hand but only had less than a year to survive. Dumbledore TOLD Snape to kill him so Snape would gain control of the Elder Wand and not Voldemort. Snape didn’t become the master of the Elder Wand though, Draco Malfoy did for whatever reason.
Neville doesn’t kill that witch. He stands up to Voldemort and Voldemort puts a paralyzing curse on him. He then puts the Sorting hat down over his head and sets it on fire, it almost kills him but Harry saves him.
Harry then takes Draco’s wand and Voldy has the Elder Wand but Harry became the master of it. Harry and Voldy fight and harry gains control of Voldy’s Elder Wand and kills Voldemort. The whole fight is about half a paragraph, Voldy goes out like a bitch. It’s quite anticlimatic. They circle each other talking about how stupid each other is and then Harry tells him to be a man for once in his life. It pisses Voldy off, they both chant their spells at each other, Harry reflects Voldy’s killing spell back at him and kills him. The elder wand flies up in the air and Harry catches it. It’s this scene that’s the cover of the book. Voldemort is falling backwards, dead and Harry is catching the Elder Wand.
Harry is the last Horcrux.
Epilogue 19 years later: Neville is a professor at Hogwarts. Harry names his kids after his parents and after dubledore and snape. One is named Albus Severus Potter. He sends his kids to Hogwarts along
