sunshine

Excited to see Danny Boyle’s Sunshine? (The new trailer hit the web yesterday, see it here) Well it looks like you’re going to have to wait a little longer.

The movie has been in the works for what seems like forever. Filming wrapped in Fall of 2005. And post production took over a year, pushing back the original October 13 2006 release date. A March 2007 release was announced, but the film was pulled from the slate yet again. Now we’re hearing that the movie will hit theaters in late 2007, almost two years after the film wrapped production.

It makes me wonder what could possibly be wrong. Our sources say that the film was pushed back because the first cut didn’t meet expectations. We’re not saying the movie sucks. The trailer looks very promising, but a movie doesn’t get bumbed back three times for no reason. Anyone know the full truth?

There can’t be much wrong if it is going to be released in April as is and as scheduled in the UK and other international locations, except for the U.S. where it is, like you mention, ALLEGEDLY to be released in the Fall of 2007. Something fishy abounds.

B-b-but it’s like Alien and Armageddon rolled into one epic movie with the most epic song in existence playing alongside the trailer…I’m gonna give it a thumbs up

If I remember correctly, the same thing happened with Supernova. It was delayed multiple times for reshoots, and the director, Walter Hill (The Warriors), eventually asked to have his name taken off the credits. I sure as heck that doesn’t happen here.

danny boyle would never pull his name from sunshine. he’s too good of a filmmaker to make a movie then shelve it, plus he’s way too passionate about this project. i am upset that the movie keeps getting pushed back… damn test screeners probably didnt understand it. oh well, whenever it does come out it’ll be good i’m sure.

The movie being pushed back several times could simply be a teaser. a long shot, but a harsh possibility nonetheless. i’m going to agree with Zach; if they ever REALLY start advertising this movie, i believe it’ll be probably the most epic movie of the year (and/or decade). the book itself was amazing, but the first movie that spawned from its creation did not do it justice. this remake, however, seems like it could plow into the box office harder than 300 or (in my opinion) the upcoming Spiderman-3. you really have to hand it to Fox Searchlight; i think this movie has the possibility of becoming the greatest film of the decade. two thumbs way up… and i’ve only seen the few preveiws they have out.

I’ve seen Sunshine in Ireland, and the film is nothing but excellent! The date wass probably changed so it wouldn’t clash with the big blockbuster of the summer i.e. Transformers and Die Hard! Danny Boyle has made one fine film which mixes blockbuster style action with intimate drama, and I would say viewers who usually doesn’t like sci-fi, will end up enjoying it!
