Borat DVD looks Pirated

boratdvdmedium.jpg

Fear not, that Borat DVD you bought at Best Buy is not pirated, although appearances are somewhat deceiving.

As it turns out the DVD release of Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan was made to look low-budget. Apparently there is not a word of english on the packaging. The DVD cover also appears to look color-copied (complete with off color tones, slightly blurred company logos, blurry text and moire pattern/lithographic scans. Now that’s funny.

As always, click the above image to see a higher res copy.

The DVD hits stores on March 6th, 2007.

Actually, only the DVD case itself is printed in Russian. The O-card on the outside (what is visible when on the shelf) is printed in the Queen's English.
  • I'm sure the Canadian version will mandate it have a French side
  • Ryan
Bought the canadian version... o-card has english and french... case under is still as described... russian and bootleg-looking
  • Ryan
oh yeah... and the DVD inside appears burned... until you look at the underside
  • Yeah OnlyRumors I found that the outside was normal but I didn't venture into the packaging. This is in a Welsh Morrisons.
