Fear not, that Borat DVD you bought at Best Buy is not pirated, although appearances are somewhat deceiving.

As it turns out the DVD release of Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan was made to look low-budget. Apparently there is not a word of english on the packaging. The DVD cover also appears to look color-copied (complete with off color tones, slightly blurred company logos, blurry text and moire pattern/lithographic scans. Now that’s funny.

    Actually, only the DVD case itself is printed in Russian. The O-card on the outside (what is visible when on the shelf) is printed in the Queen’s English.

    I’m sure the Canadian version will mandate it have a French side

    Bought the canadian version… o-card has english and french… case under is still as described… russian and bootleg-looking

    oh yeah… and the DVD inside appears burned… until you look at the underside

    Yeah OnlyRumors I found that the outside was normal but I didn’t venture into the packaging. This is in a Welsh Morrisons.
