Warner Bros. is aiming to make comic-book geeks around the world pee their pants. They have hired a team of writers to script a live-action feature film which will include most of DC Comics superhero line-up: Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, the Flash, and more.
Kiernan and Michele Mulroney have been hired to write a big screen Justice League of America movie. You might recognize their names, because they’re the hot Hollywood scribes of the month (they wrote a draft of
the Kiefer Sutherland’s Mirrors which starts shooting in May).
The JLA first appeared in February 1960. The original line-up consists of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman and the Martian Manhunter. But the team has gown to also include Green Arrow, Atom, Hawkman, Black Canary, Captain Marvel, Plastic Man, Zatanna and others. The Jusice League spawned several cartoon television series, including the cult 1960-70’s Super Friends. Justice League Unlimited is currently aired on the Cartoon Network.
The comic books usually have the heroes band together to fight alien forces or groups of supervillains.
It has been previously reported that both Christian Bale (Batman Begins) and Brandon Routh (Superman Returns) have contract options to star in a Superman vs. Batman movie. I wonder if Warner’s legal team could spin that stipulation into the JLA idea. The studio is also trying to greenlight a Wonder Woman film. I assume that the lead star’s contract will include a JLA option.
Warner announced this news on the heels of the New York Comic Con (which ramps up this weekend).
And to get you excited, check out the classic Fan Film titled World’s Finest. Made by Sandy Collora, the same guy who did Batman: Dead End.

February 23rd, 2007 at 6:27 am
You know, no matter what, this is going to be a super-duper-cluster-phuk. Bryan Singer is going to want to get his mitts all over this - as well as everyone else.
February 23rd, 2007 at 12:17 pm
If they really knew what they were doing, they’d have simply hired Collora, or the makers of Grayson, or any number of other, vasty-superior-to-Hollywood Fan Film makers. Face it, Star Trek: New Voyages is now vastly superior to both Voyager and Enterprise combined, just as Star Wars: Revelations was the apology to Episodes 1-3. Be petty about how amateurish some of the acting may be for some of the cast -which is wholely ignorant as they all ARE openly amateur. But recognize the passion and commitment to STORY that Fan Films possess, and which Hollywood schlock is missing.
p.s. this site’s Java is buggy. Sorry for any typos.

I won’t be surprised if Hollywood produces a Marvel vs DC Superheros in the future! Won’t that be amazing!
February 23rd, 2007 at 12:26 pm
Marvel vs. DC would be pretty cool, if done properly. But then again, the DC comics superheros’ powers are almost unlimited compared to the heros of the marvel universe.
February 23rd, 2007 at 12:48 pm
This better be good. I always liked the justice league. I remember watching the old series and the new one they had on cartoon network. I found out about The Question though the cartoon network show.
February 23rd, 2007 at 1:04 pm
Hmm, seems like this is going to take a long time to come together. I can’t see this happening before 2009, even 2010 (with multiple rewrites of the script, the usual turnover in exec. management, etc.). When it goes into production (and we find out who’s directing it and who’s starring in it, besides, presumably, Bale and Routh (maybe the acting lessons will pay off), I’ll have a clearer feeling one way or another.
Have you caught the JLA animated version? Quite good, but Bruce Timm (Batman: TASm, Superman: TAS) was behind it, so it had to be good. If the live-action version is close to that level of quality, I’ll be content.
February 23rd, 2007 at 1:07 pm
I was thinking the same thing myself. I actually doubt Warner will be able to get this project off the ground at all. But you never know. Now that it’s public, fanboy reaction can give it that extra push. And if they try to do it without Bale and Routh they will fail.
February 23rd, 2007 at 1:18 pm
I hope they make a spiderman movie, that would be awesome
February 23rd, 2007 at 2:02 pm
They need to put Kevin Smith on it. And keep spider-fetished producers the hell away from it.
February 23rd, 2007 at 2:07 pm
Kevin Smith is one of my favorite writer/directors, but I’m not sure he’s the proper fit for an ultimate superhero film. He’s less about cinematic action and more about smart conversation (which has its place elsewhere). Although I’d love to see them put together a team or writers that would include Smith to work out ideas. And a Smith dialogue polish would be great.
But the real question is who could direct this epic comic book movie?
February 23rd, 2007 at 2:25 pm
My vote goes to Joel Schumacher.
Who’s with me?
No one???!?!?!
February 23rd, 2007 at 2:31 pm
LOL, I want to say Sam Raimi or Peter Jackson, but I think the movie needs someone else. Darren Aronofsky and Quentin Tarantino would be too dark, Mark Steven Johnson would be too lame, Del Toro doesn’t have a good big budget Hollywood track record… Robert Rodrigiuz possibly? Anyone have any better ideas?
March 1st, 2007 at 10:00 am
…why don’t they start smaller and simply give us a Green Lantern movie or a Flash movie.
Hero overload.
March 3rd, 2007 at 10:17 am
i’ve always wnated a movie to be about JLA. i love the comic books and the cartoons to go with it, but maybe it would be smart to start off with smaller movies and then make a Jla movie. one of my favorite things about dc heros is there background story, and a movie dedicated to all superheros at once might ruin it if you don’t know whos behind the mask. theres been batman movie, and superman, but what about the flash and hawk girl. That’s one of my issues with x-men. all the characters have theses well thought of stories behind them. and mybe thats why marvel does so well with their other movie like spider-man and ghost rider. it might take a while to do. but it would be worth the wait.
March 5th, 2007 at 9:51 pm
i would love to see a jla movie but i agree with what has been said, this isnt like xmen you cant just throw them all in a movie without any background on them. i think it would be cool if in the next batman and superman movies they somehow refer to the jla or another hero. if you go the hero route wonder women seems like the choice since they seem to be pushing for that at warners along with jla. i’d rather see flash but that expirement has failed before, aquaman could be amazing if done the right way but they wouldnt get the right people for it, green lantern could be fun to watch with the ring, who else would dc put in there?
March 21st, 2007 at 1:35 am
sounds cool the JL idea but is tom welling layin the role of superman and michael rossembaum lex luthor??
March 21st, 2007 at 9:06 am
Smallville, no offense intended, but let’s hope that. Welling and Rosenbaum are good, but let’s leave them where they belong, on television, and not try to transfer their small screen talents to the big screen.
Either way, I highly doubt this will come off and if it does, expect Superman and/or Batman to have reduced or non-existent roles. A JLA movie would probably focus on the lesser members. It’s a smart move, if you think about it, since a successful JLA movie could give Warners/DC several characters to spin off into their own movies.
April 9th, 2007 at 6:54 pm
I think a Justice League movie would be great!! If Warner Bros. even goes through with it; they were going to do World’s Finest: look how that turned out! But it goes without saying that they are the perfect company for the job. Although, like has been said before, I would like to see a few more DC hero movies BEFORE the epic Justice League; Green Lantern, the Flash, Wonder Woman’s already in production, Aquaman, Captain Marvel, etc. They have TONS of hero’s to work with. But maybe they are doing this to introduce all them to the “comic ignorants”, then make a bunch of spinoffs. Not a big deal to me, just as long as they get made. Especially Green Lantern and the Flash! They are some of my favorite heroes that haven’t been seen on the big screen. Another thing, if this Justice League movie does go under way, I think they should DEFINITELY get Bruce Timm on the crew, him and Brian Singer and Chris Nolan. AND if they don’t have Brandon Roth and C Christian Bale playing Bats and Supes, what’s the point in doing it? Anyway, I’m really looking forward to it!! :)
Have a great day!
God bless,
Moviemaker4Christ

“SHAPE OF A WATER WALL”…
I hope the “Wonder Twins” will be in it!!
April 14th, 2007 at 3:29 pm
This movie sounds like a great idea but if it is made and Superman and Batman
are in it they should not be the same Superman and Batman from Superman
Returns and Batman Begins, character wise. Superman should be more like the
John Byrne comix version(not the whiny Christopher Reeve version) and Batman should be more like the version seen on
Batman:the animated series. This will give Warner Bros. a chance to not screw up
Batman’s costume and make it how it is in the comix for once. For those of you
not familiar with the comix Bats wear’s a black cape, cowl, gloves, letard, and boots
along with a gray shirt and pants with a yellow or gold utility belt and occasianally
sports a yellowish elipse that matches his belt color around the black bat symbol on his chest, that’s how it should look in movies,I’m tired of comprising. The only thing they should use from any previous version of Superman or Batman is Danny Elfman or Shirley Walker’s Batman theme and John Williams Superman theme for whenever a scene needs it.Also,I
don’t want Warners screw’n with Flash,Martian Manhunter and GL’s suits much either. This JLA should feature Superman,Batman,Wonder Woman,Flash(Barry Allen’s my 1st choice and Wally West is my second),Green Lantern(Hal Jordan’s my first choice and John Stewart is my second)and the Martian Manhunter.
Hawkgirl,Aquaman and other crappy characters can appear in sequels.
Superman and Batman should have already met and learned each others secret
identities and become good friends long before the time of the movie. Superman and Batman should also know Wonder Woman a little. The only problem is coming up with who forms the League;Superman,Batman, and Wonder Woman,or Green Lantern,Flash and Wonder Woman. The Joker,Lex Luthor(the John Byrne version)Sinestro,Mirror Master,Killer Frost, and the Parasite should team up to take down the newly formed League and complete some certain tasks
for their employer, the real threat,DARKSEID!!!!! Each heroes origin should be explored briefly during the open credits while the score is playing(John Williams,John Ottman,Danny Elfman, anyone?). And PLEASE get someone new to direct it,someone good with a lot of potential, don’t recycle Bryan Singer or Christopher Nolan again. That’s how it oughta be done.
April 21st, 2007 at 12:36 am
OH for the luvva MIKE!!! Brandon Routh as Superman? OK he looks like christopher reeves but can they NOT find any one out of the gazillion actors in Hollywood that actually LOOK like Superman??!!! Superman is a HUGE guy BIG HUGE BIG did I say Huge?? Oi Vey!
April 21st, 2007 at 12:42 am
OH ,and I agree with Kel , Dont mess with the costumes. Batmans costume should look like it does in the comics (without the yellow oval , sorry Kel) It has worked well in a lot of fan made films so why not in a big budget studio film. And although I am a Hal Jordan fan I think the GL in this film should be John Stewart
April 25th, 2007 at 10:33 am
I agree with Mark, John Stewart is a much better Green Lantern, I would have
Wally West or Bart Allen as the Flash. There should also be a Legion of Doom in
the movie with the Joker
April 25th, 2007 at 6:55 pm
Sorry to you guys who are hardcore in the aspect of keeping the heroes looking EXACTLY like they do in the comic books. Welcome to Hollywood. Costumes are going to be a bit more ‘glamorous’ and larger-than-life. I honestly have no problem with Bale’s Bat-suit. Especially since they did a great job explaining why it looks like it does. Though the comic costumes work on paper, and in fan films, Hollywood always makes things much bigger and stylish. Get used to it. I never understood why Batman used to wear blue and light gray. Hiding in the shadows? Yeah, right! More like sticking out like a sore thumb! And as for the current comic look, well, he’s got the black, which makes sense, but he’s still got that gray. It draws attention to his chest, and if I was a villain going after Bats, I’d shoot him right there. With Black, he hides in the shadows better, and you’d never know where to aim to shoot him.
I look at Nightwing, Batwoman, and the current Batgirl, and they all look sleek and modern. The only problem with those characters is the fact that their emblems are bright and stick out. Not a good thing for heroes of the shadows.
I for one am thrilled that Watrner Bros is looking to get this going. It’s about time! I know it’ll probably take years to really get it off the ground, but if they take their time, this could be one of the biggest and greatest comic book movies ever made.
It’s about time Warners!
May 3rd, 2007 at 1:52 am
I would love to see this movie. I’m a big fan.
Superman Returns is quite boring for me. Maybe because they’re trying to twist stories that was seen (although repackaged) a long long time ago. If I were Warner Bros, I’ll produce a Superman movie wherein he’ll die. His fight with Doomsday will be one for all of us Justice League buffs. His return will be a sure blockbuster sequel.
June 7th, 2007 at 8:36 am
I would like to see them adapt the Mark Waid/Alex Ross graphic novel KINGDOM COME, and folks, let’s just get a new cast for this film…no borrowing from other comic book films. I’d like to see Antoine Fuqua or Kathyrn Bigelow direct it.
June 8th, 2007 at 8:58 pm
There is already a trailer out on youtube - hosehead from S.R. and I think Christian Bale as Batman. And imbd only has a fucking title and date on this!
Even more, there’s an aquaman trailer - looks like the movie is done - and imdb doesn’t have shit on it!
June 8th, 2007 at 9:03 pm
Oh, and green lantern, too. No-thing at imdb!
June 16th, 2007 at 5:09 pm
i would just like to now why the jla movie video i watched starred teenagers. like the kid from smallville and lez from smallville. im not up to date on actors names, but i dont really care. i just wanna know why the video has kids in it?
June 16th, 2007 at 5:10 pm
lex* from smallville lol
June 16th, 2007 at 5:27 pm
Sounds good.Another Marvel superhero movie.
June 29th, 2007 at 4:16 am
Let the Wachowski brothers direct the JLA film or D.C vs. MARVEL… or a joint direction of Michael Bay and Brett Ratner!

August 3rd, 2007 at 12:16 am
Am I the only one who thinks this is a bad idea? Sure, bringing a whole lot of superheroes into the one movie will create quite a spectacle, but what about the individual characters? It’s OK for a comic book or a cartoon, but a film? And if they do decide to make it, I hope both Christian Bale and Brandon Routh stay the hell away from it. Batman Begins was brilliant, and most people love the Superman movies - crossing them over will cheapen them both. They’re entirely different entities. Let’s leave it at that.
August 6th, 2007 at 1:52 am
this is a really bad idea for right now, obviously, the new batmana nd superman franchises are way too young for this kind of team-up. and let’s not forget the horror of the last superhero team up ‘Batman and Robin’. It doesn’t work, and it is even less likely to work if people aren’t attached to the heroes, superman/batman need to do their own thing for a while, Singer agrees and he’s no idiot.
August 20th, 2007 at 3:24 pm
I think there’s an explanation for the bright logos on the chest. I remember reading the Punisher had the skull on his chest to lure people from shooting at his head (into presumably his bullet-proof vest). It does some makes sense to have the bright symbol on the chest if you buy that.
August 21st, 2007 at 1:22 pm
I just have to say, and I hope DC and Warner Bros. are reading this, HAL JORDAN IS GREEN LANTERN. I don’t care how PC you have to be, get it right. John Stewart is a sub-standard ring slinger.
August 24th, 2007 at 4:45 pm
Hal Jordan would only be Green Lantern if it was a ‘Superfriends’ movie. if it’s a ‘Justice League’ [or justice league unlimited, however unlikely] movie, it has to be John Stewart. oh, and stop ragging on John. just because you’re not a fan of his being a GL doesn’t mean he sucks or that anyone is being PC.
besides, if they do make a GL movie, it would be hal all the way. why not let john have the spotlight in the JL movie?
August 24th, 2007 at 9:45 pm
I think the “Justice League” movie is a very bad idea OR AT LEAST PREMATURE. As usual Warner Bros. is going to eff-up another great title DC has to offer(It’s not bad enough that Superman has a kid, the colors on his uniform are tarnished (though I do love the new interpretation of the “S” shield and that’s too small, The Fortress of Solitude still has no life, not only is he a “deadbeat dad”, “I’m always around”, Come on!? But they turned him sissy with the most un-Superman phrase ever uttered from the character’s mouth “I’m still Superman” in the midst of getting beatdown. With lines like that I’d beat the Hell out of him too.) I think they (Warner Bros.) needs to let DC have more creative control over their characters. Which is obvious they don’t or the Joel Schumacher “Batman and Robin with nipples and a thong” movies would never’ve happened. My plan is simple: for them to milk as much money out of the franchise books DC has to offer, here’s what they have to do: Make movies with the big name heroes in either missions or at least passing glances, conversations that feature cameo appearances to familiarize people with them and then do the Superman/Batman movies. Also they could create movie tie-ins like comic books where you would have a continuing storyline that involves the next franchise to such a degree that you would have no choice but to see the next movie to follow the story. It worked for the “Matrix” movies or “The Lord of the Rings” movies. With that out out the way more hero
movies “Wonder Woman”( I would’ve loved Joss Whedon’s version), or (David S. Goyer’s)”The Flash” etc. and add more cameos then when they’re all out of the way, use the “Justice League” movie to bring it to a head then finally finish off with “Kingdom Come” By then there should be enough cameo work to develop the “JSA”, “Young Justice”, “Nightwing” ETC. They could also develop television properties based from the movies. Maybe with cameos from some of the movie’s stars (lesser or otherwise) to lend validity and continuity to the T.V shows. I think that would guarantee everyone work and money for a long time. Of course it would require a long term commitment but a huge pay-off for all involved. Brilliant, I know. GEEKS UNITE. HELP ME TO BRING LIFE TO MY VISION AND MAKE IT SO!!
August 25th, 2007 at 8:10 am
I think Tom Welling should take the role as superman, for many reason!!!!!
August 25th, 2007 at 8:16 am
Tom without a doubt should be Superman!!!
August 25th, 2007 at 8:17 am
Smallville fans want to see Welling as Superman, he would be better for the role!!!
August 25th, 2007 at 8:36 am
The reason for Tom taking the role as superman is that not only did Reeve pass the torch to him but he’s been warmed up to the role. He’s the same age as chris Reeve was when he played superman back in the day and Tom as Superman would have so much more meaning to it! Don’t get me wrong Brandon was good but Tom Welling as Superman looks better and makes more sense.
August 31st, 2007 at 12:38 am
I agree with David. If Warner wants to make the money, then they shouldn’t do a JLA movie yet. They should make individual films first, especially Flash and Green Lantern. Then, once people know those stories as well, work up to doing a JLA movie. For continuity, I think Roth and Bale. I would have loved to see Tom in the role of Superman, but the movie industry couldn’t wait for him to finish up Smallville. Roth has the backing and they will use him, and everyone knows it. Kevin as Lex was good, and he liked the role so I bet he’d go along with it. It’s the script that would worry all the GEEKS. The characters are so well done in the comics and the story arcs that its hard to have stupid, no comic reading, retarded “I think Robin looks good with his nipples” writers and directors mess with things. But they’ve learned by now, we’ll all see it anyway just to see how bad. LOL
September 2nd, 2007 at 6:07 pm
Superman + T Welling = YES
Batman + Bale = YES
Lex + Rosenbaum or Spacey = YES
Wonder woman + Connelly = YES
I say YES -YES -YES to these ideas!!!
I love Ben Stiller, but if he does indeed play Batman, I won’t watch it at the theaters…
September 4th, 2007 at 8:54 am
This will suck if they don’y use Hal and Barry.
September 7th, 2007 at 8:35 am
For the Love of DC if this movie gets made please, please don’t crap it up! You don’t need big names to fill the tight’s of legends, and make sure you don’t replace Brandon Routh as Superman! I see Bruce Timm’s name up there for writing, consider it please! The world of DC writer’s are more then able to fire off an amazing script! Also on a side note for anything related to Batman, Nathan Jones former WWE and Troy star waould make a killer Bane! God speed Hollywood, our nerdy hopes and dreams lay in you hands…..don’t F it up :-)
September 12th, 2007 at 2:00 pm
The Justice League movie should be a one time EPIC event. They should be portrayed by legitimate actors. Not 20 something TV stars. They should also be actors in their 30’s, maybe even 40’s. Mature and confident. Like most of the main cast of X-men and IronMan.
Here is my proposed list:
Batman………………Josh Brolin
Superman……………Gerard Butler
Wonder Woman…….Lucy Lawless
Green Lantern……….David Hasslehoff
Green Arrow………….Tyler Mayne
Hawk Girl…………….Charlize Theron
Aquaman…………….Mark-Paul Gosselar
Flash………………….Rhys Ifans
Martian Manhunter…Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson
The Joker……………Christian Slater
Brainiac………………Samuel L. Jackson
Gorilla Grodd………..Michael Clark Duncan
Sinestro………………Steve Buschemi
September 13th, 2007 at 9:05 am
drew you crack me up. i laughed for a good 5 min after reading this.
September 14th, 2007 at 8:28 pm
I have no idea if this idea is still happening, but all i have to say is: Why live action? Why not let Bruce Timm and Co. do a feature-lenght ANIMATED Justice League? That Cartoon Network show (now sadly gone) was WAY better than pretty much any of the sad ass or at best ‘good’ but never ‘great’ live actions super-hero movies.
I would love to see an animated movie of the Justice League, but only if it was done by the same animators and of the same high quality in other respects.
September 18th, 2007 at 11:36 am
i think that they should have Tom Welling as Superman. Somebody else as batman. Angelina jolie as Wonder Woman, Shia laboeuf( however you spell his last name) as Flash, Rachel Adams as hawkgirl. Dwayne “the rock” johnson as martian manhunter and a black actor as Green Lantern. The plot they should use should be like Starcrossed, the Thanagarian Invasion. If they made the movie like that it could be very successfull. I would love to watch that movie.
September 19th, 2007 at 5:19 pm
wow christian, your ideas for actors are the first i’ve heard that have made any sense. I wish DC would let the fans vote or something.
September 20th, 2007 at 10:32 am
Routh as Superman was good, but it should have been Tom Welling! They should have waited to film after Smallville, but theres a problem, we now have 2 supermans! Brandon and Tom, Branson Routh as superman has the origonal storys behind it, as Tom has a new story but also Tom has been warmed up to the role. Tom is the same exact age as Reeve was when Reeve made the role, Routh is younger and you can tell he is. Reeve loved Tom as Superman and if Reeve gave the go for Tom I think we need to respect the origonal/true Supermans choice of Welling. Also the WB has just built up Tom so much as Superman its only right to finally put him in the suit! It would be like hyping up an event and not bringing the show, what a disapointment huh. The fans want to see Tom as Superman because they have built him up to the role, PLUS he looks better as Supes than Brandon. Honestly Brandon has his place as the Donner storyline Superman, so lets give Tom a chance since he was Reeve’s pick!
September 25th, 2007 at 12:29 pm
Ok WELL WHOMEVER WROTE JUSTICE LEAGUE CARTOONS REALLY MESSED IT UP FOR ME WHEN THEN WROTE THE EPISODES WITH THE android Amazo. AFTER WATCHING THAT SAGA ALL THE HEROES IN THE LEAGUE SEEM USELESS. SO NOW THEY CAN STOP MAKING THE SHOWS BECAUSE THE FOOLS MAKE ALL THOSE YEARS OF POWERFULLNESS SEEM EMPTY NOW. THANK YOU DUMB WRITERS. THERE IS ACTUALLY A LIMIT TO WHICH YOU CAN KEEP THINGS INTERESTING.
THE ONLY RECOURSE NOW IS TO SOMEHOW WRITE A 2 PART EPISODE IN-WHICH THE STUPID ANDROID IS DEFEATED SOMEHOW BY THE LEAGUE. AND IT HAS TO BE CONVINCING WHERE WE CAN ONCE AGAIN HOLD TRUE TO LEAGUE.
PEOPLE IF YOU HAVE NOT YET WATCHED THE android Amazo SAGA, ALL I CAN TELL YOU IS DON’T*****
JUSTICE LEAGUE WILL NEVER BE THE SAME…..
September 25th, 2007 at 3:22 pm
Before you cast Jessica Biel. Take a look at Nadia Bjorlin. She is the splitting image of Wonder Woman. She played in RedLine with Eddie Griffin.
September 26th, 2007 at 8:04 am
Wow…aside from having a stellar first name, Thomas is actually quite right in his pic. This lady really is perfect, but can she act? And what’s with all these pretty boy pics for superman? Why can’t he be played by a more weightlifter looking guy with a military cut, as apposed to a pretty boy with flowing locks? What’s the name of that guy who played Harmon Rab on CBS’s J.A.G. ? Or the bad guy who was pretending to be Jack’s daughters friends dad on season one of 24? I have no idea who they are, but they both look like an older superman…more like the comics in my opinion.
September 26th, 2007 at 10:12 am
Sorry Guys I don’t think JLA will come to be. The Batman and Superman reboot films took alot of time to put togetrher and film. Remember everybody from Jim Carry to alot of other actors were attached to Superman before it went into production. Wonder Woman has been stuck in developement for nearly a decade Joss Whedon was attached to it for a few years before he gave up waiting for the studio green light to film. Most of these DC charactors have had problematic pre-production woes that nearly have killed them off. Assembling an entire cast of them would be almost impossible. Jesica Beil has announced her casting as Wonder Woman just yesterday. I think she’s probably the fourth one they’re tried to get. Kevin smith dropped his bid for The Green Hornet last year, I don’t think WB would get him back. Oh yeah let’s not forget about the Smallville trailer that shows a twenty something JLA in shadow during commercials. That also looks like something they the studio would rather press forward. Why spend 200 million on a film that will fail (before a single test shot) when you could send 25 million on a TV show that would probably air long enough to get sindication rights. It’s the bottem line thier looking for, marketablity is what they want. JLA live-action stands a better chance with TV than the Movie Theatre. TV doesn’t bring big names, just big talent. Talent is what would make a great show. I’m forward to JLA-Smalville Edition.
September 26th, 2007 at 3:33 pm
I totally disagree with you Robert. And before you put out a comment, make sure that you know how to spell some of the easiest words in the english language. i If the directors have the right actors to play the roles and they should follow the cartoon to make it more relevant. If so they will have a good story line like the Thanagarian Invasion, the movie should do better than everyone expect it to do. And that made lead to sequels if everyone agrees to it such as Brainac and Darkside like in the cartoons. Thus the other spinsoffs of Wonder Woman, the Flash and Green Lantern(the black one , the best one) Even though, they are producing the sequels to Batman and Superman, that doesn’t mean that Christian Bale and Brandon Routh can’t be in the movie. They just need to make some compromises and everything will be fine. Who know? it just might work.
September 29th, 2007 at 1:58 pm
Justice League of America:
Christian Bale - Batman
Brandon Routh - Superman
Jerry O’Connell - The Flash/Barry Allen
Cole Hauser - Hal Jordan/Green Lantern or Dennis Haysbert as Jon Stewart (Believe or not this character would be the breakthrough star of the film).
Jason Statham - Martian Manhunter/J’onn J’onzz
Mark Wahlberg - Aquaman
Jeremy Priven- Atom/Ray Palmer
Rosario Dawson - Wonder Woman.
No Big Introduction. Save the universe! Every Character can have a flash back story but the world already knows who these heroes are and what they sacrifice to protect us. The Great Crisis is upon us. Who has time for a Long drawn out “Origin of the JLA” story? It’s war!!
The Legion of Doom:
Samuel L. Jackson - Darkseid
Kevin Spacey - Lex Luthor…The REAL Deadly Lex Luthor.
Harry J. Lennix - Braniac
Hugo Weaving - Sinestro
David Morse - Slade
Michael Beach - Black Manta/Devil Ray
Rose McGowan - The Cheetah

Excellent casting gentlemen…Gary Sinise…Mark-Paul Gosselar…John Malkovich…excellent. Let’s not forget Wood Harris. He would make an awesome Mr. Terrific. Jeffrey Wright as the Guardians of the Universe. I’d hate for this movie get sloppy with too many goofy/kid friendly villains. this movie should be bloody and brutal. Superman and Batman should fight each other too. We all know Flash or someone will be killed. It should be Supergirl. After reading some blogs…I think Welling should get a shot at Superman. Routh should audition to see if he’s worthy. Dwayne the rock as Black Adam…Ashton Kutcher as Plastic Man…an appearance by The Titans…Kingdom Come, son!!!
October 2nd, 2007 at 4:34 pm
why are they ony doing auditions for the justice league movie up north in toronto, NY, and vancouver. How come they don’t audition for all of the major cities. If they widen their search, they could find everyone they need for the movies. I don’t think it’s fair that they have the auditions only in the north.
October 2nd, 2007 at 5:36 pm
People would like to see the original characters. Look what happened to the batman movies when you had different characters playing batman. Audiences don’t want to see that. They should stick with who is playing the role. Batman as Christian Bale, and Superman as Brandon Routh.
October 3rd, 2007 at 7:08 am
After careful though and consideration…i have come the conclusion that either Steven Spielberg or George Lucas should direct this comic book movie event. This should not be taken lightly. This movie should open up with a battle in outer space remaining true to the Justice League not the Superfriends. These are warriors…heroes and should be honored as such.

WOW, i know this film will FAIL, how dare they have a film with characters who havent even had their own movies yet, jeez and everyone knows that marvel chartacters are cooler than dc, with the exception of batman. this movie will be a flop because half of the characters are virtually unknown to most people and unliked. Also there are really good marvel movies coming out next year like Antman, Luke cage, Magneto, Incredible hulk, Iron man and much more, and hopefully one day an Avengers movie!
October 15th, 2007 at 8:47 am
If it’s anthing like the anengers animated films it will really blow. Marvel’s whole success with the X-men movies was based on making the movies realistic to the point where they were almost believeable. I’d like to see them pull that off with antman. A perfect example is the hulk movie they made. It was too cheezy to be taken seriously. You can only go so far with explaning superpowers with science before the concept becomes unpopular. I think that in the future DC will outdue marvel for this very reason.
October 17th, 2007 at 5:16 am
Well I tink they sud do the movie but they sud make it good and make good to the name of the movie we al know that we would love to c that movie at least I would but please don’t kill it like u have with the other movie like with superman and batman a mean they were good movies don’t get me wron but they sud stik to the story and ,ake good to the name of what there doin at lease that’s what I tink and I would tink that any one that loves batman and superman would agry with me and lets hope that the movie its good.

JUST MAKE THE MOVIE ALREADY!!!! I’M 41 & A BIGGGGGG FAN OF THE JUSTICE LEAGUE. PEOPLE TEND TO MAKE MISTAKES WHEN TRYING TO IMPRESS MOVIEGOERS. LOOK I WAS ALWAYS TOLD THAT “LESS IS BETTER”. SO, MAKE YOUR MOVIE WITH YOUR MILLION DOLLAR SFX, BUT PLEASE DON’T “OVER DO IT. YES, I DO BELIEVE THAT STEVEN SPIELBERG COULD TAKE A STORY (OR MOVIE) OF THIS MAGNITUDE & FILM IT RIGHT TO PLEASE ALL FANS. BUT MY ADVICE TO WHOMEVER GETS DIRECTS THIS MOVIE TO JUST DON’T FORGET TO “JUST HAVE FUN”! BY THE WAY… JOHN STEWART “IS” THE BETTER “LANTERN” BECAUSE OF HIS INTENSITY & COMPASSION FOR ALL BEINGS. BUT… HE HAS NO PROBLEM BRINGING YOU DOWN IF HE MUST DO SO.
October 18th, 2007 at 7:24 pm
Ok for the person complaining that if it was Hal jordan it would have to have been the superfriends, you obviously didn’t see the show back then, they still called themselves the justice league, and one of the MANY titles of the show over the years was “the superfriends”.
Hal Jordan has been declared numerous times to be “the greatest green lantern”, and thusly it makes more sense for it to be him, john and others can be brought in as supporting cast in the GL movie itself since they are such a big part of the backstory of what the GL really are.
So there is actually no real reason to leave Hal out simply to go PC and add john into this movie since if you want to talk about the justice league, in it’s true basis, not just simply talking about the cartoon show justice league or justice league unlimited, you have to realize (as they are finding out by screwing with transformers and turning a good dynasty into CRAP), you don’t turn away your older fans of the true origins simply to try to make it more PC, or fashionable to the younger generation.
This is not coming simply because I am a bit Hal Jordan fan, but because of his status as THE green lantern, he was the first one the justice league had, and thusly deserves it because of his skill etc.(and hey, he is known to be the man who went through life defying fear, isn’t that a good message to show in this movie to pull people into the GL movie later on?).
I know some will want to go back and look at history and say that he was not the first, that Alan Scott was the first, but the group Alan worked with was the justice society, not the justice league.
There is my rant about the reason why Hal should be featured, although I do know that in this world of BS politics it won’t be allowed because if we don’t show enough race or culture we obviously must be doing it out of spite, and not for good reason…..so I will reserve myself to know that it will be John Stewart and be happy it isn’t Kyle Raynor.
of course, much like every other big pile-up of storylines to throw 900 stars on the screen at once, it will suck anyways, so most of this debate is worthless because i will likely refuse to see it once they start showing the disaster they have made the justice league dynasty.
October 18th, 2007 at 8:14 pm
personally my favorite green lantern is John Stewart and i like hawk girl over hawk man. the reason i like john more is he has a certain intensity to him in both the comics and show, but it would be really intresting if they put both. and for hawk girl. for one she’s actually a hawk person from another planet, and not a poser like hawk man. and two she can reallly kick some ass.but it would be cool again if they used both. i just don’t want cheesy love stories and shitty background stories. stick with the originals and basics. if there is going to be a love story great, but don’t kill it by dragging it through the movie and ruining the main purpose of the movie. i don’t think people would pay to see this movie and end up in the Notebook.

October 18th, 2007 at 8:40 pm
dc is way better than marvel. marvel has such crappy stuff. incredible hulk made me gag, daredevil made me cry for wasting my money on freakin ben affleck playing a blind man who saves the day one tap at a time, electra made me think how retarted i was for not learning my lesson with daredevil, xmen sequels were alright and over rated, the punisher - omg!!! stupid i don’t even remember what it was about, fantastic four- was passable and kinda over rated and yeah. and the worst of all was spider man. spider man was two hours of a pointless love story. mary janes a whore. she slept with everyone. kirsten and toby were horrible choices. james franco is tap potential. but besides that spiderman is just a stupid love story. a fire croth who loves a dorky no life man who squirts his way around town as he saves dumb ass women while posing for his own pictures he gives to the newspaper. conceited much!!!!!! iron man is mostly likely gonna be stupid too. who is the casting person for these movies, but i’m happy its not that loony alien tom cruise running around saving the day. he would probably finish the movie and steal the costume. next he would start some religon thinking that everyone is part superhero. dumbass. his power would the ability to persuade half of america he’s a good actor. jump on random peoples couches, and finnaly spread his stupidness. dumbass.hands down dc is better. maybe superman has a cheesy love story at times, but i can deal with it. it doesn’t make wanna rip my eye balls out and pour acid in my eye socket as i stomp away on my eye balls. and batman is a MAC DADDY PIMP!!! i will admit that marvel has produced more and advertised well, but that will all change after this movie come out.
October 19th, 2007 at 11:47 am
OK. In response to saucetray’s comment…finally, somebody who knows what’s up. Saucetray, you deserve a standing ovatioin, I think you and I should arrange a fight between us and these Marval jackasses.
October 19th, 2007 at 3:37 pm
To all you #$%^#@ who DON’T want Hal,you guys don’t know what you’re talkin’ bout! You only want John because you’re either PC or are only familiar with the JLA (that’s right,I said JLA,not JL….bastards) thru the JLU/JL cartoons!! You know NOTHING about the comic book character!!!! If you did, than you would be FLIPPING out at the idea of using anyone OTHER than Hal!! This movie will be complete $#%@ if they don’t use Hal!! People, get some SENSE and pick up the GL comix before YOU decide that you want John or some other RAGEDY-ASS supporting Green Lantern as the League’s GL!!!!
To all in favor of Hal…I SALUTE YOU!!!!!
October 19th, 2007 at 7:58 pm
slightly more crudely put than I would have said myself Kel but you get the point across that I wanted to say but was trying to be too nice and avoid saying.
Well said, and true
October 19th, 2007 at 8:22 pm
OK, I myself have read some mid 90’s GL comics and must agree with you guys. But there are bigger issues in this movie then green lantern. Like what villains they use. I think that in order for this to be truly epic, it needs to involve Darksied, Brainiac, Amanda Waller (Cadmus) and some sort of encounter with the source wall, maqbye Superman could get trapped in it for the first half of the movie by Darksied, and the movie could be about getting him back. It would be a good way to put the focus on other heroes. Batman could be in the first half and then get put in a coma by saving Superman. Then superman could get mad and let loose his full power…it would make for the best special effects powered action sequence of all time. And I hope they do use Speilberg or somebody with a “big picture” mentality to pull it off. I also think the movie should be two parts. Releasing them about 6 months apart would make people get interested.
October 19th, 2007 at 8:26 pm
Darkseid IS in it,FYI. Agree with what you said, but which GL they’re using IS an important issue.
October 19th, 2007 at 10:07 pm
We’re not focusing. The movie opens in outer space…a battle between good and evil…Hal Jordan’s home town is destroyed…he goes insane…Parallax is born. John Stewart is now the Green Lantern of Earth. Stewart and the rest of the JLA must fight through Darkseid, who has joined forces with the Legion of Doom. The search for Hal Jordan…(see where I’m going) causes a disturbance in the multiverse thus creating “The Great Crisis”… This can include the GL Corp which would also lay to rest why there are many Green Lanterns. Hal is the Greatest that’s why the movie should pay homage to his character. Live action is going to be hard to pull off. More the reason why this film should be marketed to an adult audience. Leave it up to us Dads to break down “The Particulars” to our Sons (The kids probably know more than we give credit). No soppy intros…no origins of the JL Gay. The moviegoers have made it through forever times infinity Batman, Superman, Spidey, Hulk, FF origin movies. This movie needs a Star Wars plot…Raw…Bloody and Brutal. Correct me if I’m wrong.
October 19th, 2007 at 10:24 pm
Oh yeah…yes Cadmus and Amanda Waller. The possibilities are infinite. Famed Actress CCH Pounder without a doubt would be ground breaking. Can I get an Amen?
October 19th, 2007 at 11:53 pm
Why make a Justice League movie? Why do it? Why
take a whole bunch of superheroes, some of whom
deserve, and already have(ie. Superman and Batman)
their own movies, and cram them all into a 2-hour
action movie? There is potential for inventive action
setpieces with each hero using his or her own unique
abilities, sure, but a movie needs more than that.
Movies like Batman Begins show us that comic-book
movies can have depth and integrity and can do justice
to the really awesome characters of comic-book lore.
This doesn’t seem like a workable idea, even with
George Miller set to direct. This sort of team-up crap
works in comics, but comics don’t always translate
easily to the big screen. Which is why I get pissed off
when nerds on forums start complaining that
“Batman’szch szchupposed to wear a grey leotard, this
movie’szch szchtupid!” Also, the physicality of
comic-book characters is highly exaggerated for drama
and effect. The real-world equivalent would be the
pill-popping gorillas of the WWE. Good luck finding a
good actor in their ranks. But anyway, I’m glad and not
surprised that neither Christian Bale nor Brandon Routh
are involved in this. Crossing over the two universes
created in Batman Begins and Superman Returns
(although Returns owed a lot to what was established
in the Donner film) would cheapen both projects. And
why am I hearing people saying Tom Welling should
play Superman? He’s in a TV show!!! Why does there
need to be continuity between a TV show (and a pretty
mediocre one at that) and a totally unrelated movie?
Do you people watch Smallville? The acting is….subpar.
Anyway, this project doesn’t make much sense to me,
but it seems to be going ahead. Maybe George Miller
can pull off something decent, but this sort of thing will
never match comic-book movies like Batman Begins
(best comic-book movie ever) and Spiderman (Yeah,
I’m pretty indiscriminatory when it comes to the whole
Marvel/DC thing).
Oh, and The Dark Knight looks awesome.
October 20th, 2007 at 12:06 am
Batman should be in his black and gray comic style gear. Superman in a navy blue and red suit. These variations on the costumes will also help audiences realize that the Superman and Batman in the movie are NOT the same ones from BB and SR. Matter of fact, everyone needs to look as close to the comics in appearance as possible. The suits shouldn’t be peter pan tights, but they shouldn’t be black plastic either. A comprimise between the 2 would be nice. Batman’s suit should be bullet, shock, and flame proof to a degree, but should be very flexible and easy for him to move in. He doesn’t need all that plastic crap on him like he has in EVERY other batfilm. He’s Batman, not Iron Man. His suit should look more like a bulletproof vest. His cape, cowl, boots, gloves, leotard and emblom should be all BLACK. His shirt and pants should be gray, not a light gray, but more of a darkish charcoal type gray. That will look just like the comic book style Batman that has been waiting for YEARS to get on screen. Supes’ shirt and pants should be navy blue, the red areas on his suit should be a light red,and the yellow areas should be a darkish yellow/gold.
October 20th, 2007 at 7:04 am
Adults who grew up reading the JLA will walk away unfulfilled. I also agree that the superhero fliks have been a little too kid friendly. Raise the bar. Masked heroes, live action? Very risky. That’s why even The Avengers would fail. This would have to be a very action packed movie with A-listers. I think the success of the Adam West Batman Tv show was due to the A-list actors as villains. This movie has to be cast the old fashioned way. Each role must be written specifically for a particular actor. Screw the auditions…send scripts to Cruise, Samuel L., Keifer, Denzel, the Lebouff kid. Imagine Val Kilmer as Alan Scott…You don’t hear me.
October 20th, 2007 at 2:36 pm
I still think they should just do a feature-length animation with the same exact people who did the Cartoon Network series. THAT Batman was the coolest Batman ever, in my opinion. Kevin Conroy’s voice was perfect… and on the Justice League his coolness came out in his contrast from all the other characters.
The sad part is that although they have never really made a truly excellent superhero movie (the closest perhaps being the second X-men movie), indeed, while most of them have sucked (whether DC or Marvel), I still feel compelled to go to see them, just because I loved the comics as a kid. There have been some I have resisted, but mostly I have succumbed. It would be great if they would strive to make a classic we would want to see again and again. But then again this website seems to make clear how impossible it would be the please every fan. Some of the posters liked movies that I found unbelieveably bad, and I’m sure they wouldn’t like all my tastes either.
October 20th, 2007 at 3:21 pm
i’m sorry Marie, but sending valuble scrips to a horrible actor like cruise is idiotic. the rest you liseted i might consider, but cruise. he’s a loonatic. i can’t believe you would think of him and state him first. he could e an extra, but that’s it. if they decide on doing what you suggest i would probaly kill myself. but samuel l. jackson is a mac. but then again, this goes for alot of you. stop pckin people to play a psrt they are too old for. i mean most of the superheros were in their late twenties early thirties. not 40 and up. i don’t want to watch a bunch of senior citizens hoping around in tights and capes. i have a weak stomach. hands up to Tom. we both know what’s goin on. and kel, i understand where you’re coming from. in my opinion i like john more. sorry dude. comics and all.
October 20th, 2007 at 3:49 pm
and the whole tom welling thing is weird. like i love the smallville show, and i think he plays supermans younger version well, but i’m not sure about him going on the big screen. but i didn’t really like brandon routh. he kinda sucked in my opinion. i fell aseleep in that movie. tom would be intresting to see in the costume and all. i would pay to see it more than if brandon did another superman movie.
October 21st, 2007 at 7:19 am
They are making an animated DC movie, by BRUCE TIMM: THE SAME GUY WHO DID ALL THE AWESOME SHOWS LIKE SUPERMAN, BATMAN, BATMAN BEYOND, JUSTICE LEAGUE, JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMITED, etc; comes out like February 2008. It’s called the New Frontier, which is the primer origin story. So I don’t think with the live-action they need any origin, just jump us into the story; it’ll be a lot better that way.
October 21st, 2007 at 8:19 am
I think Brad Pitt or Keanu Reeves should play Superman in the movie justice league
October 21st, 2007 at 12:27 pm
Josh Duhamel, the soldier guy from Transformers who had the baby girl,is my pick for Hal Jordan. Ryan Reynolds would be good as Flash. I think those two would work well together. But they probably will go with John Stewart as GL anyway becuz he’s black.
October 21st, 2007 at 12:28 pm
Look at the pics above and you’ll see the Batman costume from the comics that Batman should wear in this film.
October 21st, 2007 at 12:29 pm
Batman’s voice should sound more like Kevin Conroy! He ROCKS!!!
October 21st, 2007 at 3:48 pm
kevin conroy’s voice is hella awesome. alot better than christian bale. when i heaard christian bale speak in batman i burst out laughing. he sounds like an idiot. although i love john. your suggestion for hal jordan is a really good one. and i could defintly see ryan as the flash. hes young and funny, just like the character, but i’m not sure if he would look good with red hair. whatevr tho. finally some one made a good choice for actors. oh wait. some one had the perfect cadmus. cch lady was perfect. she would play the part well.
October 21st, 2007 at 3:54 pm
Bale’s voice was waaaay to raspy. hopefully he”l take a hint from conroy in the dark knight.
the barry allen flash had blonde hair, fyi. Reynold’s hair is kinda blonde.
October 21st, 2007 at 4:04 pm
omg yeah. i forgot. i’m thinking of walley west. but seriously bale need to stop with that voice thing. it really bothered me through the whole movie.
October 21st, 2007 at 4:17 pm
Generally speaking, Saucetray… U’r right, Cruise is a Ham sandwich. I’d Like Mickey Roarke as Darkseid. Older Men rule!!
And it’s a shame that anyone would think, in this day and time, that Stewart would get face time because “He’s Black”. John Stewart has history as far back to the 19seventies. Much respect to Hal Jordan but I Like dakoola’s imagination. The search for Hal Jordan that’s cool! I like Liev Schreiber as Hal jordan, Isaiah Washington as Jon Stewart.
October 21st, 2007 at 4:45 pm
Amen. CCH Pounder is kick ass. But knowing Hollywood, The Wonder Twins will make an appearance. SHAPE OF…A STRAIGHT TO DVD RELEASE…FORM OF…A WASTE OF 20 DOLLARS. I bet Burger King already has the license for the Kids meal toys. Did someone say Ben Stiller as Batman? What’s next Jack Black as Green Lantern? How about Carrot Top as The Flash.
October 21st, 2007 at 6:41 pm
i totally agree with you Marie. i don’t think people want john just because he’s black. that’s pretty ridiculous. my reasons for loving that character was much more deep than an outer apperance.
i will say the idea that was mentioned could really work. and i would love it if they could include the both of them. yes there are many green lanterns, but it seems that everyone favors them the most.
i want walley west. he was a mac. my little red head. i’m sad
October 21st, 2007 at 6:52 pm
wait wait wait…. isn’t the barry allen flash just a kid? cause i’m not very familar with him as much as WAlley West. and they better have hawk gurl in the movie. like hawk man is alright but he’s a poser.
October 22nd, 2007 at 6:13 am
OK. For all you jackasses who think that they’re not using Stewart just becuz he’s black and they want a minority in there (which,I’m all for, just not at the expense of Hal Jordan,FYI),consider these facts:
There are 4 human members of the GL corps.3 are white and 1 of them is black.
John may have been created back in the 1970’s,but he’s also the GL outa the 4 with the LEAST amount of story!!! Hell, even Guy Gardner has more story than he does!! They actually ADDED background history and practically REIMAGINED the character for the JL/JLU toons! Hal on the other hand, has a HUGE history that dates WAAAAY back to the 1950’s!!!
There’s only a white Superman, everyone knows that. There’s only a white Batman, everyone knows that. There’s only a white Wonder Woman, everyone knows that. There’s only a white Flash, everyone even knows that! But there IS A black GL because there’s multiple GLs. They want to get a minority in there, and the other heroes are too well known to have their ethnicities changed,so they figure the only major character that they can get away with that’s black would be to use John Stewart as GL in place of Hal Jordan. It’s PC,you know. And besides, almost every other black DC character isn’t what you’d call an A-list hero. And really,Y not use John? He’s already been used in the JL toons (cuz he’s black, ask Bruce Timm,he’ll tell you that’s exactly why they used him) and the JL Heroes videogame (but at least you had Hal and Kyle as playable characters).
So that’s the only reason why they’d use John, cuz he’s BLACK!!! Wake up guys!!! I’m a black fellow,FYI,but Hal REALLY deserves to be GL in this movie. He gets NO facetime. In the episode of JLU,called “the once and future thing,pt 2 aka Time Warped” Hal makes a brief appearance in John’s place,FYI. If they use John,I expect them to at least mention Hal Jordan or have a flashback of Jordan. They’d better NOT use Hal’s origin for John! That’ll REALLY PISS ME OFF!!!!!
Barry Allen is the original Flash of the Silver Age when they reinvented the character in 1956. Wally West was the Kid Flash, the Flash’s teenaged sidekick, until Barry “died” in 1986 or 1985 at the hands of the Anti-Monitor. Wally then quit being Kid Flash to become THE Flash. Wally has red hair and Barry has blonde hair. Barry was definitely the better Flash of the 2 for a number of reasons, one of which was that he had more abalities than any other Flash. He could do things that no other Flash could ever do,like vibrate thru objects without making them explode, travel the universe at will, suck speed out of other objects, and he was the definite fastest of all the Flashes. He’ll be missed.
And Hawkman,a poser? Please. Here you guys go again with the cartoons instead of the comics. All the hawkpeople wore special harnesses with wings, none of them actually have wings…….dumbasses. That’s how it is on the toons, too,FYI. So you coul say they’re ALL posers. The movie, much as it sounds like with the possibility of them using John as GL and all, won’t be based on the cartoons. I love the cartoons, they’re great, but there is SO much more to the JLA than just that. All you guys seem to know and talk about are the cartoons versions of the characters. If that’s all you know, than IMO,you shouldn’t be commenting on who should be in the movie.
October 22nd, 2007 at 6:15 am
Kevin Conroy IS Batman!!!!!!!
October 22nd, 2007 at 8:22 am
OK. What’s with all this talk of “impossible this” “impossible that” We live in an age of practically unlimeted technological recources for movie making. This movie should be a product of imagination, not a “what we’re limeted to” endevour. I’m sick of all you skeptical old farts thinking it can’t be done. There is absolutely no reason nor excuse why a live motion picture shouldn’t be able to contain everything seen in a comic or animated series. Remember the first Matrix movie? Remember when the first Star Wars movies were made? Trust me, the only thing that will slow this down is old, unimaginative idiots, who think they have to limet there vision to what is physically possible.
October 22nd, 2007 at 8:34 am
no, Barry allen is not a kid, and realistically if you use the barry allen flash you have to have hal jordan.
Yes, I agree with the comment that john stewart has “history”, but you then must look at WHY john stewart was brought in as the green lantern (not storyline but real life politics and adding racial equality among comic book ranks).
As I have said, the history of the comic books (which whether you like it or not IS the basis for the cartoons and thusly the original basis for this proposed movie) states that next to sinestro, Hal jordan is the greatest green lantern of all time, and yet he will be ignored because a more recent generation grew up with a screwed up vision of what the JL actually is thanks to a cartoon that was so watered down and full of any character they could digitally throw in there at a low cost.
Keep in mind people, if you plan on basing this on the cartoon series, you might as well throw in the 9,000 other characters that made up the JL by the end of things, or just stuff your cartoon to movie hopes and dreams and make a true “origins” style move to allow you to span into flash, wonder woman, green lantern movies over the next few years, use it as a springboard to let the world know about the original JL and their characters to increase your future sales instead of it trying to be a standalone movie that doesn’t explain jak about the truth of the GL or anyone else’s real origins and thusly have more need to fill those holes in he individual’s movies.
October 22nd, 2007 at 4:34 pm
wow weee. i’m tired of hearing the whole gl thing. in my opinion i love john. i grew up with him. i didn’t care if he was black or not. i don’t care for race. and i don’t appreciate someone thinking i only like someone cause there black. that’s ridiculous. i’m half black. if you want to play the race card, but that has nothing to do with this movie. that’s why i think it would be a good idea to add both. it doesn’t seem like fans are gonna be pleased if hal fans end up with john or john fans end up with hal.
i will like to say thank you for telling me the differences between the two flash. i always get them confused.
i think at this point it gets complicated. superman batman and wonder womman are lucky cause there was only one of them, but people like gl and the flash is alot more confusing.
October 22nd, 2007 at 5:12 pm
I see you saucetray! Kel…I bow down to your divine wisdom but you’re losing focus. Hal Jordan’s appearance in that JLU ep was cool; “…Hal Joran here..don’t worry I’m up to speed…”. Nice cameo, dude. I think people want to see Jon Stewart due to his TV show popularity. Personally, I don’t see black and white. In my opinion, Jon Stewart’s is a true character of intrest and they both should be in the film. And the GL corp too…and Sinestro…and…don’t call people minorities! This movie should be a springboard for the Hal Jordan/Green Lantern Movie.
I think adults and children alike are familiar enough with the JLA’s background to be spared a dumb origin movie. I want my JLA to be an action-packed sci-fi thriller, with as many killer characters as possible, played by the best actors. I want to see Superman’s heat laser beam eyeballs glowing in the dark…I want to see Anthony Hopkins as the Guardians of the Universe…I want see Batman knock Guy Gardner tha f*ck out!! Writers are you reading this?

What the hell r u talkin’ ’bout,Saucetray? “you grew up with John”. What are you, under 17 or somethin? His only REAL facetime is on the JL toons!! Did I acuse any of you for wanting John cuz he’s black? NO!! I acused the PC WB for wanting him cuz he’s black! If they can put Hal AND John in GREAT!! If there’s only room for one GL,then it better be Hal! Seriously,Hal’s got waaaaay more fans tha John or any of the other GLs,so if they use John they’re gonna tick a LOT more people off than if they used Hal. Seriously, walk into ANY comix store and tell them that John should be GL in the JLA movie and everyone there will LAUGH. They know that Hal is the GL ta use cuz they been grazed on COMICS,not just cartoons!!! ……..jackasses.

oh shut the fuck up kel. you don’t understand anything. i’m not gonna sit here and argue with your ass. if i like john i like john. get off my back because of it. you like hal and that’s cool. i was born to speak for myself. i’m not gonna follow ur ass. you take the fun out of this stuff. you remind me of my mother. except shes a john stewart fan. if hal ends up in the movie. whoop dee do. i won’t be a big baby off of it. and if i took anything you said the wrong way. i’m sorry. but ur basically being an ass.
oh and marie, i think the bell guy has the perfect face for braniac. like dead on almost. dakoola had an awesome choice for that.

Marie hit the nail on the head with Mickey Roarke. That’s creative! I literally got chills thinking about that. You see the puss on that guy? He looks like a foot. good choice
