Universal Studios Korea Set For 2014

Planning a break to South Korea's Gyeonggi Province in 2014? Fancy seeing an animatronic King Kong while you're there? You might just be in luck.

Deadline Hollywood Daily are carrying some details of the Universal Studios Park and Resorts complex set to be built in Korea. We can expect it to contain "a state-of-the-art Universal Studios theme park, Universal CityWalk, a retail, dining and entertainment complex, a championship 18-hole golf course, themed hotels, a water park, premium retail outlet and hypermarket, as well as condos".

This is arguably a wonderful demonstration of globalisation as cultural imperialism. I wonder how many circles of hell would have to freeze over before we'd see a resort in Kansas themed around the trademarks and IP of Korean studio Sidus FNH? Or maybe one could argue that they're called Universal and have the globe as their logo for good reason...?

Existing Unversal theme parks are in Hollywood, Orlando and Japan with Singapore and Dubai also in the works.
