Generally speaking, studios, filmmakers, and stars are happy to see their films land on awards shortlists or critics’ top 10s. But then there are the lists they’d probably rather not be on, like this one of the most pirated movies of 2015.
To be sure, most of these movies did just fine even without the pirates’ box-office dollars. This year’s #2, Furious 7, was a favorite of pirates basically from the moment it opened, and it still managed to set records. (Records which were later broken by Jurassic World and then Star Wars, but never mind that.) Still, it’s gotta be annoying to think of all the money they didn’t make because some people didn’t feel like paying. Especially since a couple of these titles could’ve used that extra boost. Find out what the most pirated movies of 2015 are after the jump.

Back in the summer of 2014, director James Cameron teased that we might get to see Terminator 2: Judgment Day get converted to 3D, just like the theatrical re-release of the director’s Titanic a few years ago. And while there were no solid plans to make it happen at the time, now Terminator 2 3D is becoming a reality, and it will hit theaters in 2016. Get the details below! Read More »
It’s no secret that Terminator Genisys wasn’t the hit that Paramount Pictures hoped it would be this past summer. The film only pulled in just under $90 million at the domestic box office, and while it raked in a surprising additional $350 million in international box office receipts (with the movie opening huge in China), it’s not enough to keep the studio from rethinking the future of the franchise.
But it’s not just the financial return that’s a problem, because the movie has a 23% on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the worst rated movie in the Terminator franchise. And so, that makes the Terminator Genisys Honest Trailer quite the hilarious roast of this unnecessarily complex and unwanted sequel. Read More »
It’s no secret that a lot of Hollywood blockbusters use a significant amount of visual effects to bring certain sequences to life on the big screen. And in addition to making fantastical scenarios look as real as possible, visual effects are also used for more subtle things such as set extension. In the case of Terminator Genisys, a heavy dose of both were used as evidenced in this behind the scenes featurette from the climax of the sci-fi sequel.
Watch the Terminator Genisys visual effects featurette below, but beware of spoilers! Read More »

The Terminator franchise isn’t dead – it’s resting. At least that’s the message coming out of Skydance Productions, who had to watch Terminator Genisys take a pummeling at the domestic box office this summer. Still, there’s fight left in this ‘ol franchise and Skydance Chief Creative Officer Dana Goldberg insists that after a few weeks of recuperating at the spa and maybe a little counseling, the series will be back and ready to win over the hearts and minds of the American public once again.

Even though Arnold Schwarzenegger has touted the iconic line “I’ll be back” in the Terminator franchise over and over again, it turns out that might not end up being true after this latest round of the sci-fi film series.
This past summer, Terminator: Genisys didn’t do so hot at the domestic box office, and the future of the series was uncertain. But its performance in international markets, especially China, indicated that the franchise continuing might still be a possibility. However, a small mention of future Terminator sequels has revealed Paramount Pictures has put any future Terminator sequels on hold indefinitely. Read More »
Before Terminator: Genisys hit theaters this past summer, Paramount Pictures was hopeful that the sequel, which also functions as a franchise reboot, would be a big hit for them. The studio even scheduled two sequels to arrive in 2017 and 2019. However, when the film only rounded up a disappointing $89 million, the future of the franchise remained uncertain.
But nearly a couple of months after being released in the United States, the film hit the big screen in China where it landed $27 million in a single day, making it the 4th best opening day ever for a Hollywood movie in China, just behind Furious 7, The Avengers: Age of Ultron and Transformers: Age of Extinction.
And since then, the Terminator Genisys box office overseas has only gotten bigger, with a total that just might be enough to get a sequel for fans who are still curious to see what happens in this new Terminator timeline. Read More »
Earlier this summer, Terminator: Genisys made quite an unceremonious debut at the box office with a $27 million opening and a domestic total of just over $89 million before leaving theaters. The underwhelming numbers left Paramount Pictures uncertain as to what the future would hold for the Terminator franchise, but it had yet to debut in some international territories.
Well, the sci-fi sequel featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger back as the titular cyborg has just made a big splash in China, where studios are really trying to increase their box office appeal, and it just might end up being enough to keep the franchise going. Paramount Pictures and Skydance were really hoping that Terminator: Genisys would be a hit to reinvigorate the popular but struggling sci-fi franchise originally launched by James Cameron in 1984. But despite endorsement by the Avatar filmmaker, the flick hasn’t really impressed fans or critics, and with just $278 million at the worldwide box office so far (only just over $81 million of that from the US), it’s not nearly as successful as the studio hoped.
Way before the film even hit theaters, Paramount had set dates for two Terminator sequels to arrive on May 19th, 2017, and June 29th, 2018, with the assumption that they would be shot back-to-back. But now the future of the Terminator franchise is uncertain.
