James Mangold (Logan) will direct a remake of a French-Belgian movie not enough people saw in 2015, Disorder. It’s a very good and very atmospheric and sparse thriller from director Alice Winocour. Last year, screenwriter Taylor Sheridan (Hell or High Water) was tapped to write the American remake for Sony. After the script crossed Mangold’s desk, he signed up immediately to direct the film, which sounds like it’ll take some significant departures from the original.

After writing the acclaimed films Sicario and Hell or High Water, screenwriter Taylor Sheridan has tried his hand at directing a suspenseful thriller of his own.
Wind River follows Jeremy Renner as US Fish & Wildlife agent Cory Lambert working on the Wind River Indian Reservation in Wyoming. Filming wraps on the Sicario sequel, titled Soldado, in a couple of days in Mexico City. Just the other day, Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Taylor Sheridan (Hell or High Water) gave an update on the project, saying, “If Sicario is a film about the militarization of police and that blending over, this is removing the policing aspect from it.” Soldado deals heavily with immigration, so Sheridan and producer Basil Iwanyk (John Wick: Chapter Two) believe the sequel is relevant in more than a few ways. Iwanyk is also confident the sequel is bigger, has more “bells and whistles,” and digs deeper into the characters. Below, learn more about the Sicario sequel. Read More »
Emily Blunt isn’t returning for the Sicario sequel, titled Soldado (translation: soldier). Kate Macer (Blunt) has an arc which is completed by the end of the film, but some people were still understandably disappointed we won’t see this world any longer through her eyes. With director Stefano Sollima‘s sequel, writer Taylor Sheridan (Hell or High Water) wants to ask: Without a chaperone, how bad do Alejandro (Benicio Del Toro) and Matt (Josh Brolin) get?

In the past two years, Taylor Sheridan has delivered acclaimed crime thrillers as the screenwriter behind the 2015 drug trafficking hit Sicario and last year’s award-worthy heist thriller Hell or High Water. Now he’s made his directorial debut at Sundance.

Ben Foster and Chris Pine play incredibly convincing brothers in David Mackenzie‘s knockout drama, Hell or High Water, written by Sicario scribe Taylor Sheridan. Tanner (Foster) and Toby (Pine) have their differences, but they’re definitely from the same family. Their mutual trust, their shorthand, their inside jokes, and how they express themselves — they’re cut from the same cloth. The criminals are far from heroes, but their tight bond makes them surprisingly empathetic in Hell or High Water, which hits home video tomorrow. To celebrate the release, we’ve been premiering a clip from one of the film’s bonus features.
