Some Good News, a web series that was essentially John Krasinski sitting in his house goofing off in front of a webcam all in the name of cheering up people in quarantine, is moving up in the world. Krasinski sold the rights to the web show to CBS after a bidding war. Also, he’ll no longer host it. Sources say Krasinski was hesitant to sell what started off as a free YouTube show to help distract people in lockdown, but in the end, money won.

With the state of the world getting more dire by the minute, John Krasinski made it his mission to bring good news to the masses. With his new online show Some Good News, a charming homemade YouTube series that Krasinski uses to deliver heartwarming news stories and stage mini The Office reunions, the director of A Quiet Place is achieving that. Krasinski held a special graduation edition of Some Good News, bringing on special guests like Steven Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey to chat with the graduates of the class of 2020. Which is probably way more impressive than whoever they would’ve gotten for their graduation speakers.

Hamilton Reunion

The Office and Jack Ryan star John Krasinski recently started passing some of his time in self-quarantine by hosting a web series called Some Good News. Recorded from the home office of the A Quiet Place director/star, the series highlights some uplifting stories from around the web to help drown out the hellish nightmare of news from our government and the coronavirus pandemic that is claiming lives everyday.

The first episode of Some Good News brought the wonderful surprise of The Office star Steve Carell appearing on the show for a chat, just in time for the NBC workplace comedy’s 15th anniversary. But an even more impressive reunion comes in this week’s second episode as John Krasinski assembled the entire original cast of the Broadway music Hamilton and had them perform a musical number on the video conference service Zoom, all for a little girl who missed the show due to coronavirus cancellations.
