Director Robert Rodriguez is known for his shoot-’em-up action movies like El Mariachi and Desperado, but now the filmmaker finds himself under fire regarding a dispute about a movie he made four years ago. One of the producers of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For has filed a suit against Rodriguez for “causing production delays that led to $20 million in cost overruns” on the visual effects-laden sequel.

The right director and the right script don’t mean anything without the right actor. Performers are the ones who bridge the gap between the minds behind the camera and the ones in front of the screen. It is their personalities that draw us in, their expressions that tell the story, and their faces that we remember.
There were no shortage of great performances this year, across all genres and all budgets. Inevitably, a few stood out above the rest. See our list of the best performances of 2014 after the jump. Read More »
Judging by the first box-office numbers for the Sin City sequel, the real question here might be “did you even see it?” Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez have returned to the black, white, and bloody world of their first collaboration with a couple more stories adapted from Miller’s Sin City comics stories, along with some new material. The first film was novel and striking in aesthetic, and the sequel still looks like almost nothing else.
Sin City: A Dame to Kill For brings back some familiar faces (Powers Boothe, Jessica Alba, Bruce Willis, Rosario Dawson ,and Mickey Rourke in extreme makeup) to get into some super-dark and violent dealings with new characters played by Eva Green, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Christopher Meloni. Josh Brolin takes over the character originally played by Clive Owen, while Dennis Haysbert inherits the role originated by the late Michael Clarke Duncan.
That’s a lot of talent, but do all their efforts make for a film that offers audiences a satisfying trip to the underbelly of Sin City? Weigh in below.

The reasons to see Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame to Kill For are numerous. The incredible cast for one, which includes Jessica Alba, Powers Boothe, Josh Brolin, Rosario Dawson, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Eva Green, Dennis Haysbert, Stacy Keach, Jaime King, Ray Liotta, Jeremy Piven, Mickey Rourke and Bruce Willis. The filmmakers are another, the iconic storyteller Frank Miller and maverick Robert Rodriguez. There’s the pulpy, exciting source material. And now, we even get a Quentin Tarantino trailer to boot.
But to truly experience a film like this, one that was probably more than half made in the computer, you almost have to see it in 3D. It was specifically crafted that way. In a new featurette, exclusively debuting on /Film, you can listen to the filmmakers and stars talk about the 3D in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. Watch the Sin City 2 3D featurette below. Read More »
By all accounts, Quentin Tarantino hasn’t even started to shoot his new film The Hateful Eight. There’s already a poster, however, and now there’s reliable info that a teaser trailer is in the can. Even better, several reports say that the Hateful Eight trailer release is set for next week, attached to Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. Trouble is, that’s probably the only place you’ll be able to see it for a while.
Sure, trailer news and rumors are somewhat lame, but when it’s word on a trailer for a film that we thought might never be made? We’ll take it, especially after the movie script was leaked, leading to the film being cancelled, then revived for a live reading.
More info on the Hateful Eight trailer release is below. Read More »
