A five-part docu-series focused on actress Rose McGowan will debut on E! later this month. McGowan, who appeared in films such as Scream, Jawbreaker and Grindhouse was one of the first actresses to come forward with sexual assault allegations against Harvey Weinstein. The new series, titled Citizen Rose, will go behind-the-scenes of McGowan’s life. In addition to the new series, McGowan also recently claimed that her Grindhouse director Robert Rodriguez used the Weinstein incident to play “mind games” with her on set, contrary to what Rodriguez has claimed in the past.

With Saoirse Ronan already locked in for Andrew Niccol‘s The Host, the search is on for two handsome young lads to play the male leads. Jake Abel has just been selected for the part of Ian, beating out several competitors including Dane DeHaan (The Place Beyond the Pines), Thomas McDonnell (Prom), and Augustus Prew (Charlie St. Cloud). Abel, who’s still negotiating his deal, has worked with Ronan once previously on Peter Jackson’s The Lovely Bones. More recently, he’s also starred in Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and I Am Number Four.
Based on a novel by Stephenie Meyer, The Host revolves around a woman named Melanie (Ronan) whose body is possessed by an alien parasite named Wanderer. Ian is a human who initially attacks Wanderer, but eventually falls in love with her. The other major mail character, that of Melanie’s boyfriend Jared, is still being cast; Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games), Kit Harrington (Game of Thrones), Jai Courtney (One Shot), and Max Irons (Red Riding Hood) are among the contenders for that part. [Deadline]
After the jump, Taken 2 adds another newcomer and Rose McGowan gets some company in Napa.

M.C. Gainey, a.k.a. Mr. Friendly on Lost, has entered negotiations to star in Quentin Tarantino‘s Django Unchained as what sounds like one of the nastiest characters in a film filled with vile characters. Gainey is up for the part of Big John Brittle, an overseer at the Carrucan Plantation who sets the plot in motion by raping Django’s wife Broomhilda and branding Django’s cheek with the letter ‘R’ (for “runaway”). Django (Jamie Foxx) goes on to team up with Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz), a German bounty hunter interested in the large reward on Big John, to free his wife from the clutches of villainous plantation owner Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio).
Gerald McRaney, Dennis Christopher, and Laura Cayouette are also signed on to star in the “Southern-fried spaghetti Western,” while Kurt Russell is in talks to replace Kevin Costner as Candie’s right-hand man Ace Woody. Production is expected to begin next month for a Christmas 2012 release. [Variety]
After the jump, RocknRolla star Toby Kebbell goes East, while Rose McGowan heads to Napa.

Here’s the latest trailer for Conan the Barbarian, in which Jason Momoa, under the direction of Marcus Nispel, seeks to reanimate the cinematic vitality of Robert E. Howard‘s signature character. Arnold Schwarzenegger created the version many know and love, and he leaves some big shoes to fill. Previous trailers and pics have left us doubtful that it is really going to work. (But also hopeful for a positive outcome.) Now take a gander at the latest trailer, from the UK, in which a young Conan picks up a sword on his way to becoming 20-something Conan. See if this does the trick. Read More »
Here’s what you need to know about the new red-band trailer for Conan the Barbarian: there is a shot in which Conan (Jason Momoa) knocks out a horse with a giant chain. There is also a lot of blood, a total absence of plot, a little bit of almost safe for work sex, and the worst piece of electro-tinged cock rock to hit a trailer in months.
Sound good? Then hit the jump to learn what a barbarian wants when he is thirsty. (Hint: it’s not what plants crave.) Read More »
The first teaser trailer for the new Conan the Barbarian was dreadfully uninspiring. Made up of smoke and spare glimpses of footage, it played like Lionsgate and Millennium were trying to hide something. Now the full trailer is out, and there’s definitely no hiding anything here. The movie looks more or less as you’d expect it to look, but there might be some fun adventure within. Check out the trailer after the break. Read More »

Cultural icons don’t get much more recognizable than Betty Boop. Since her first appearance during the Great Depression, she’s become one of the most famous and beloved cartoon characters in the world. To this day, her image appears regularly on t-shirts, lunchboxes, and the like.
But what do you know about her really? Did you know, for example, that she was the creation of animator Max Fleischer, who also introduced the world to Popeye? Or that the cartoon was based on a lounge singer whose famously oversized head was the result of a terrible farm accident? Luckily, the folks at Funny or Die have seen fit to tell her little-known tale in a new biopic titled Boop, starring Rose McGowan. Watch the trailer after the jump.

During their relationship, Rose McGowan and Robert Rodriguez were planning to remake a couple films, notably Barbarella and Red Sonja. The latter is one that is still on the boards, to come after the new version of Conan, albeit with all new talent. Now, in addition to some recent interviews that shed light on what’s been holding the movie up, there is a report that Megan Fox could be the lead for the film. Is it likely to happen? Not really, but it will get some Robert E. Howard fans in a lather regardless. Read More »
