When the Streetlights Go On trailer

We’re just a few days away from the launch of Quibi, the new mobile-only streaming platform. One of the service’s “movies in chapters” that will be available on day one is called When The Streetlights Go On, a murder mystery set in a small town in 1995. Chosen Jacobs (It, Castle Rock) plays a 15-year-old who discovers a pair of murder victims in the woods, and the ramifications of the crime quickly begin to ripple through his community.

Limetown Trailer

Facebook Watch keeps expanding their original programming as the streaming wars rage on, and next month brings a new series that could only have been created in the 21st century.

Limetown is a new mystery thriller starring Jessica Biel based on the popular podcast of the same name. Named one of the best podcasts of 2015 with over 10 million downloads, the series follows a journalist (Biel) with American Public Radio as she tries to figure out how 300 people disappeared with no explanation at a neuroscience research community in Tennessee. Rebecca Thomas Amblin project

Rebecca Thomas has been lining up some high-profile and promising projects, including Universal’s The Little Mermaid. The director of Electrick Children and an upcoming episode of Stranger Things has just signed on to direct an Amblin picture co-written by Colin Trevorrow (Jurassic World) and Derek ConnollyFrank Marshall (Indiana Jones) is producing the sci-fi film, which is titled Intelligent Life.

Malignant Man director

Rebecca Thomas, the filmmaker behind Electrick Children and a season two episode of Stranger Things, is attached to direct an adaptation of  Boom! Studios’s Malignant Man. Director James Wan, co-writer Michael Alan Nelson, and illustrator Piotr Kowalski tell the story of a man who believes he has cancer, but who really has an alien parasite providing him with powers to defeat an army. The Wan-produced project has set up shop at 20th Century Fox.

Sofia Coppola Leaves the Little Mermaid
