Since it sounds like Sony’s attempt to reboot the Men in Black franchise isn’t yielding very good results, the studio will have to hold out hope that their other franchise reboot coming later this year will do the trick.
Charlie’s Angels is coming back to the big screen in November with Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska as the dangerous trio of spies sent out on missions by a rich benefactor named Charles Townsend. Right now, it doesn’t seem like many Disney fans are all that excited about the arrival of the studio’s remake of their 1992 animated classic Aladdin. The marketing certainly isn’t doing the movie any favors, whether it’s because of the seemingly wooden performance from Mena Massoud as the titular street urchin or the boring choreography for what should be one of the most lively parts of the movie. The Charlie’s Angels first look is here, giving us our first glimpse of Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska in Elizabeth Banks‘ reboot. Although you probably shouldn’t call it a reboot. When the first teaser trailer for Disney’s live-action remake of Aladdin first arrived, fans were fairly underwhelmed. Not only did the teaser offer very little footage of Mena Massoud as Aladdin and Naomi Scott as Jasmine, but it didn’t give us a look at Will Smith as the genie in the famous lamp at the center of the story. Even when the first images of Will Smith in the movie arrived, he wasn’t blue like the famed genie voiced by Robin Williams in the 1992 animated classic. But that changed today.
A surprise Aladdin TV spot that aired during the Grammys not only brought more footage, but it finally gave us a shot of Will Smith in all his blue glory. And, oh boy, it’s certainly something to behold. Read More »
