peacock comedies

Peacock is fluffing up its feathers and building its slate of originals with new comedies from 30 Rock‘s Tina Fey and The Good Place creator Mike Schur. The new comedies, alongside the new MacGruber series with Will Forte and two “late-night” shows headlined by Amber Ruffin and Larry Wilmore, are part of Peacock’s slate of projects designed to boost the new platform’s presence in the streaming wars.

parks and recreation reunion

What would Leslie Knope do during the coronavirus pandemic? It’s an easy thing to imagine but a little harder to actually make into reality, as Parks and Recreation co-creator Mike Schur revealed ahead of the highly anticipated reunion special. Parks and Recreation is returning for a one-time coronavirus episode that will reunite the original cast of the beloved NBC sitcom and raise funds for frontline efforts against the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The Parks and Recreation reunion special already seemed like a miraculous thing to happen, considering the cast had gone their separate ways (some to Hollywood superstardom) and Schur wasn’t interested in revisiting the series after the show “felt like it had made” its point. But how quickly the episode came together to air this Thursday feels like even more of a miracle. And according to Schur, it was a labor of love and lots of “goodwill volunteer work.”

The Good Place Featurette

Next week brings the beginning of the final season of The Good Place. But before we start the end of this journey, a new featurette from the recent Paley Center special paying tribute to series features Mike Schur explaining how the series came to be. Watch below! The Good Place Season 4

Mike Schur has given us comedy magic on NBC for years. From The Office to Parks and Recreation, he’s been a network staple that has brought endless laughs and touching moments to the small screen. That continued in a whole new way in recent years with The Good Place, a show that is every bit as funny as the aforementioned comedies, but also as philosophically compelling and narratively surprising as a show like LOST. Unfortunately, all that will come to an end with the show’s upcoming fourth season. Read More »

parks and recreation revival

Parks and Recreation had seven perfect seasons on NBC, and for many of its fans, that was enough. But we are in the era of revivals and reboots, so at the show’s PaleyFest reunion, the cast and creators Mike Schur and Greg Daniels were inevitably posed the question: Could we expect a Parks and Recreation revival? Only under one very specific condition, answered Schur.

Fork Yes: ‘The Good Place’ Season 3 is Happening

The Good Place renewed

Maybe this isn’t such a Bad Place after all. Because someone must be looking out for us for Mike Schur‘s high-concept comedy The Good Place to be renewed for season 3.

Starring Kristen Bell and Ted Danson, the wacky half-hour series is easily one of the best comedy shows on TV right now, tackling existential angst with a screwball sensibility — and it’s only upped its game in season 2 after the first season presented an eleventh-hour game-changing twist. And while there’s no way to know what direction this show will go, at least there will be plenty of free shrimp cocktails along the way.

Black Mirror Season 3 Review

It’s been nearly two years since the last episode of Black MirrorCharlie Brooker‘s tech dystopia anthology series, and over three years since the last proper full season aired. Naturally, then, news that Netflix had commissioned 12 more episodes was met with a combination of excitement and trepidation.

On the one hand, Black Mirror is second to none when it comes to chronicling the way humanity and technology intersect in 2016. On the other, we’ve seen tons of shows renewed after extended hiatuses, only to return as shells of their former selves. Could the third season of Black Mirror live up to the greatness of the first two? Based on the two episodes that screened at TIFF, “San Junipero” and “Nosedive,” the answer seems to be yes.  Read More »
