The very first pictures from Joshua Michael Stern‘s indie Steve Jobs biopic jOBS confirmed what we already more or less knew: that Ashton Kutcher can look a lot like the late tech guru in the right outfit. Now a more recent batch of set photos offers glimpses of some of the rest of the cast as well, including Josh Gad as Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak; Ahna O’Reilly as Jobs’ girlfriend Chris-Ann Brennan; Lukas Haas as Apple employee Daniel Kottke; and Dermot Mulroney as former Apple CEO Mike Markkula. Check ’em out after the jump.

With shooting already underway, Joshua Michael Stern‘s Steve Jobs biopic is filling in some key supporting roles. (For clarification, this is a distinct project from the Aaron Sorkin-penned Jobs movie set up at Sony, which has yet to begin casting.) The latest addition to the cast is Matthew Modine, who’s slated to play former Apple CEO John Sculley. He was hired by Jobs (Ashton Kutcher) for the post in 1983, but the two men famously struggled to get along. Two years later, Sculley removed Jobs from from his managerial duties, leading Jobs to resign from the company shortly afterward.
In addition to Modine and Kutcher, the picture also stars Josh Gad as Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak and Ahna O’Reilly as Jobs’ girlfriend Chris-Ann Brennan. Stern’s film is due to hit later this year, but first Modine will be seen grappling with another eccentric visionary — Batman (Christian Bale) — in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises. [THR]
After the jump, Dan Aykroyd goes Behind the Candelabra.

Lots of casting news has been flying about for the past few days, and in the wake of Comic Con we’re still catching up on a few things. In this particular casting break you’ll find:

- A Stargate SG-1 actor gets a role in The Dark Knight Rises.
- Jay Chou stars in a new Chinese action film, complete with a teaser. Read More »
You might have seen the footage in front of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 this weekend, or perhaps you caught one of the many bootlegs that have been circulating for the past week. But here’s the real thing: the first official teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan‘s third and final Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises. Read More »
Briefly: Given that Christopher Nolan is now shooting The Dark Knight Rises, we probably won’t see too many more notable names added to the cast. In fact, this might be the last: Josh Stewart from The Collector and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button has taken an unknown role in the film. Like many of the other recent cast announcements, his part may not be significant, but he joins what is looking like an impressive ensemble cast.
So we’ve got returning actors Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne / Batman; Michael Caine as Alfred; Gary Oldman as James Gordon; and Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox, with newcomers Tom Hardy as Bane; Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle; Juno Temple as a “street-smart Gotham girl;” Josh Pence as young Ra’s al Ghul; Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake, “a Gotham City beat cop;” Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate; and Matthew Modine, Tom Conti, Joey King, Brett Cullen, Chris Ellis, Daniel Sunjata, Diego Klattenhoff and Burn Gorman. Quite a lineup, and you know we’ll keep you posted (possibly in Superhero Bits) with any new pieces of info that come out. [Variety]
When Matthew Modine was announced as part of the cast of Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight Rises, all we knew was that he would play a character called Nixon. The director has a way of peopling his Batman films with some good, recognizable actors in small roles, so we didn’t think too much of Matthew Modine’s casting. But it turns out there is another report out there suggesting that he might have a more significant role than we’d first guessed. Read More »
When Warner Bros. released a press release featuring the cast of Christopher Nolan‘s currently in production The Dark Knight Rises, we were all disappointed that no new names were included. Well just a day later, on the day that we’ve seen our first image from the film, three new cast members have emerged. According to Variety accomplished actor Matthew Modine, best known for playing the lead role in Stanley Kubrick’s Full Metal Jacket and Tom Conti, an Oscar-nominee for his role in the 1983 film Reuben, Reuben, who was recently seen in The Tempest, have both joined the film. In addition Joey King, an 11-year-old actress who starred in Ramona and Beezus as well as Battle: Los Angeles, has been cast. Of course, there’s no word on who each will be playing except that Modine’s character name is “Nixon.”
Feel free to speculate wildly after the jump. Thanks to Variety. Read More »
