Director Mark Pellington is taking another trip to Arlington Road.
Pellington, who directed the original 1999 paranoia thriller, is coming back to direct an Arlington Road TV series that’s reportedly in the “early stages of development” at the newly rebranded streaming service Paramount+. The film was about a professor who suspects his neighbors of being domestic terrorists – a topic which, sadly, feels all too relevant in 2021. Read More »

Next month Mark Pellington returns to the Sundance Film Festival. The last time the filmmaker attended the fest, he brought I Melt With You with him. That aggressive and bleak drama didn’t receive the warmest of receptions, but it had its fans at the time. Pelling’s new film, The Last Word, looks like a far more accessible movie, and it stars Shirley MacClaine and Amanda Seyfried.
Below, watch The Last Word trailer.

Last week we dropped the red-band trailer for I Melt With You, Mark Pellington‘s incredibly divisive thriller about four longtime pals (Rob Lowe, Tom Jane, Jeremy Piven, and Christian McKay) who get together once a year for debauched, drug-fueled gatherings. Underlying the merriment, however, is a deeply disturbing secret that could change all of their lives.
If that trailer’s NSFW cursing and drug usage stopped you from checking it out last time, don’t worry — we have a green-band trailer for you today that’s pretty much the same thing with the F-bombs and cocaine edited out. Check it out after the jump.

There are films I want to watch because they’re universally beloved, others I want to watch out of a morbid curiosity because they’re widely reviled, and then, occasionally, there are those that pique my curiosity because they seem to be a little bit of both. Perhaps the most divisive film out of this year’s Sundance was Mark Pellington‘s I Melt With You, a dramatic thriller about four longtime male friends (Rob Lowe, Tom Jane, Jeremy Piven, and Christian McKay) suffering from midlife crises who escape together for debauched gatherings. Which makes it sound like a crappy Tim Allen comedy, but apparently it’s all very serious and there’s a disturbing twist that turns the film into something deeply fucked up. Watch the red-band trailer and see the poster after the jump.

On Monday we showed you a brief character clip of Rob Lowe from I Melt With You, the new film from Mark Pellington (Arlington Road, Henry Poole is Here). Four more were released this week, and now that the final clip is out (a NSFW one featuring Sasha Grey) we’ve collected the latter four for your perusal. See ’em all after the break. Read More »
I Melt With You is the next film from Mark Pellington (Arlington Road, Henry Poole is Here) and will debut soon at the Sundance Film Festival. Below you’ll find the first of a series of very brief teasers for the film. This one features Rob Lowe, seemingly in a mode of quiet distress. We’ve known all along that this was intended to be an emotionally intense, perhaps even harrowing film. This very brief clip makes me wonder what we’ll see are more are released over the course of this week. My curiosity remains engaged. Read More »
Cool Posts From Around the Web:
Mark Pellington is putting together a not-so-obvious cast for his upcoming small-budget thriller, I Melt With You. The director already has Jeremy Piven and Thomas Jane, which left two big roles to cast. Now one of them has been filled by Rob Lowe. Read More »
While I went in hopeful, I ended up hating Mark Pellington‘s last film, Henry Poole is Here. Hated it enough that hearing that the screenwriter, Albert Torres, had been hired to rewrite the live-action Akira adaptation all but killed my scant interest in that project.
But I’ve heard very good things about Pellington’s work on U2 3D (maybe not a surprise, given his music video background) and thought there was potential on display in earlier features like Arlington Road and The Mothman Prophecies. I’d like to see Pellington realize that potential, and wonder if I Melt With You, an ‘ensemble thriller’ that may now count Thomas Jane and Jeremy Piven among the cast, might be the ticket.
