Mallrats Sequel Cast

Kevin Smith may have only just finished the first draft of the script for the forthcoming Mallrats sequel, but he’s already got one new cast member on board, and it’s someone he’s worked with pretty recently.

During a watch party double feature for Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and and Jay and Silent Bob Reboot last night, writer/director Kevin Smith announced that Aparna Brielle, who plays one of the new girl gang members in the latter sequel, is already on board to star in Twilight of the Mallrats as the daughter of Brodie Bruce (Jason Lee). Naturally, her character’s name is yet another nod to the comic books the guy loves so much. Read More »

Mallrats Sequel

Writer/director Kevin Smith has definitely made the most of his time in quarantine. On top of his regular podcasts and partaking in a recent watch party of Mallrats, he’s been working on the script for a sequel to the 1995 cult classic that will bring back the whole gang. The movie is called Twilight of the Mallrats, and now that Smith has completed the first draft of the movie, he’s given fans a taste of what they can expect, and it sounds like maybe there’s not quite as much of a “happily ever after” as the end of the original movie seemed to indicate. Mallrats Sequel

Since there’s been a lot going on lately, you might have forgotten that Kevin Smith is working on a sequel to the cult classic comedy Mallrats. Despite the fact that the movie bombed at the box office when it was released back in 1995, it’s still beloved among kids of the ’90s, and especially Kevin Smith fans. But if the sequel, currently titled Twilight of the Mallrats, ever comes to fruition, it’ll have a plot element that might rub people the wrong way, because it will incorporate the coronavirus pandemic. Kevin Smith Talks Mallrats 2

With Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, writer and director Kevin Smith dug back into his interconnected series of comedies known as the View Askewniverse. The movie felt like a farewell of sorts to characters from Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, but instead, Smith seems to be reinvigorated to attempt another sequel to one of his movies.

Recently we heard that Kevin Smith was taking another crack at making Mallrats 2 happen. The idea has been kicked around before, and it was even considered as a TV series at one point. But now he’s back with a new focus and a new direction. In fact, Smith recently spoke with our own Peter Sciretta about Mallrats 2, and he revealed where his head’s at for the sequel this time. Clerks 3 and Mallrats 2 Scripts

Just over a week ago, we learned from Kevin Smith that he was working on a sequel to Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back that would take aim at Hollywood’s nostalgia obsession by getting nostalgic himself with Jay and Silent Bob Reboot. While that was good news for his most loyal fans, it also came with some bad news about two other projects that took the director back into his own View Askewniverse.

Clerks 3 and Mallrats 2 have been in the works for awhile now, but a couple problems have held them back from being made as feature film. But since Kevin Smith loves his fans, he’s going to make sure that he gets them out to the public in some form. Find out more below. Read More »

Mallrats 2 plot

If you had asked me ten years ago if Kevin Smith would ever have a chance to make a Mallrats sequel, I would have bet against it. And that’s coming from someone who loved the movie and still has a special spot for Smith’s “sophomore bellyflop.” But Smith has not only written Mallrats 2, but it’s also now five hours long and takes the form of a television series (which will probably end up on a cable or streaming network due to graphic language). What will the 10-episode half-hour comedy series be about? Learn details about the Mallrats 2 plot and find out why it became a television series rather than a movie, after the jump.
