kingsman 2 villain

There are many joys to be experienced in Kingsman: The Secret Service, a film so bursting with color and energy that you can forgive the points where it stumbles and falls flat on its face. One of the highlights was the casting of Samuel L. Jackson as the bad guy, which saw the intimidating actor playing against type as a squeamish bleeding heart with a speech impediment who sets out to wipe out much of the human race as part of a wacko plan to save the world.

If that’s how the first film utilized Jackson, then I can’t wait to see how they want to utilize the great Julianne Moore, who is currently in negotiations to play the villain in the upcoming sequel. Moore is one of our finest actresses, a thespian of tremendous power and depth, so of course she deserves a shot at playing a villain in a lewd and ultra-violent spy movie.

The Kingsman Sequel

Ever since the success of Kingsman: The Secret Service, a followup has been inevitable, but whether we’d see Colin Firth in The Kingsman sequel has been up in the air. Comic book creator/writer Mark Millar hopes director Matthew Vaughn and screenwriter Jane Goldman find a good way to bring Colin Firth back for The Kingsman sequel. Millar, understandably, very much wants to see Firth return to the role of Harry Hart.

Kingsman The Secret Service behind the scenes

Kingsman: The Secret Service was a hit earlier this year for 20th Century Fox and, very quickly, rumors of a sequel began to bubble. Two people who were a little surprised at that were series co-creators Mark Millar and Matthew Vaughn, the latter of whom directed the film. Millar recently said while there was a desire to do it and talks about it, things weren’t as concrete as the Internet made it seem. For example, he hadn’t written a comic sequel and had no plans too. But that’s seemingly been solved.

In a new interview, Vaughn revealed he’s currently writing Kingsman 2 and if the script is deemed good enough, he’ll make it. Below, read the Matthew Vaughn Kingsman 2 quote and find out how Millar envisions the sequel. Read More »

Kingsman upgrade

It feels like nearly every week a new Mark Millar property is being turned into a movie. From Wanted to Kick-Ass, through Civil War, Chrononauts, Jupiter’s Legacy and more, there’s always some new development to discuss with the comic writer.

The latest film based on his work, Kingsman: The Secret Service, was just released on Digital HD and Blu-ray/DVD. We spoke to Millar, not so much to look ahead, but to take a deep dive into that project’s transition from page to screen. How is Millar’s vision get reimagined for the big screen? Why are major changes made in the translation?

Then, of course, he told us about some general ideas he’s had about a potential Kingsman 2 and the madness that sees his Marvel story Civil War being made into a movie. Below, read our Kingsman Mark Millar interview.  Read More »

‘Kingsman’ Sequel Coming Together at Fox

kingsman sequel

It was bound to happen, and now there’s some news: a Kingsman sequel is in the works at Fox. Given that the Matthew Vaughn adaptation of Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons’ The Secret Service comic series was a surprise hit both at home and even more so internationally, to the tune of a $400m overall haul as of the close of this past weekend, a sequel makes sense. But it is still early in the film’s development, so we’re left wondering whether or not Vaughn will return. Read More »

Kingsman 2 ideas

There is no Kingsman 2, at least right now. Matthew Vaughn‘s film Kingsman: The Secret Service opened this past weekend, and did solid business behind Fifty Shades of Grey. We don’t know of sequel plans as yet for the film based on the comic book series by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons. But there’s always a chance — a good chance, given the way these things tend to go. And so Matthew Vaughn is airing some of his Kingsman 2 ideas, which include possible options for the character played by Colin Firth.
