Baywatch has faced a tsunami of middling to bad reviews, but that won’t stop the comedy-action movie from jetting forward to a sequel, and possibly, a franchise.
Producers and writers are already planning a sequel to Baywatch with the cast, led Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron, returning in their roles. Baywatch itself is a big-screen reboot of the popular ’90s TV show starring David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson, and a sequel would somewhat follow the footsteps of the successful movie reboot of 21 Jump Street. Though, according to reviews, that’s the only thing they have in common.

A few studio comedies try to break up the summer blockbuster spectacle every year, but some try to combine the laughs with the action. That’s exactly what the big screen adaptation of Baywatch is trying to do by teaming up Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron in what Paramount Pictures hopes will be their own 21 Jump Street.
So far, the trailers for Baywatch have been unimpressive in the comedy department, but a new red band trailer for the summer comedy is easily the best one yet, though it still doesn’t look like the quality buddy cop comedy that it’s trying to be.

Paramount Pictures has dropped the first trailer for Baywatch, the big-screen adaptation of the 1990s TV series about scantily clad hotties running in slow motion. But this isn’t that Baywatch. Yes, there are still super attractive people hanging out on a beach in skimpy swimwear. But this one is much more in the vein of 21 Jump Street the movie, starring Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron as a pair of mismatched lifeguards who set out to “restore the Baywatch brand.” Ha ha, get it?
Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach, Jon Bass, and Ilfenesh Hadera play some of the other lifeguards surrounding them, and Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) directs. Watch the first Baywatch trailer below.

Production is currently underway on Baywatch, the feature comedy adaptation of the popular TV series from the 90s that puts Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron in the lead roles. We’ve already gotten a first look at the duo on set and in their lifeguard gear, but both of the stars have been posting photos to Instagram from the set over the past week, showing us even more from the set.

A generation after the original Baywatch debuted on TV, Paramount is preparing to introduce a whole new generation to the joys of slow-mo beach runs. Which means, of course, they’ll need a new C.J. Parker, the pneumatic lifeguard played by Pamela Anderson in the 1990s TV series.
Well, as of now, the search is over. Actress and model Kelly Rohrbach has been set to fill Anderson’s iconic red swimsuit in the Baywatch movie, joining Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, and Alexandra Daddario. Click through to see the first video of Rohrbach in action on set. Read More »
