Jonathan Glazer directed one of the best films of the last ten years, Under the Skin. Now he’s closing out the decade with a disturbing, nightmarish short film: The Fall. For seven-plus-minutes, Glazer’s short film draws you into a story of mob-mentality at its absolute worst – a story that has unfortunate and terrifying connections to the current reality we find ourselves in.

The arrival of the gorgeous Neil Kellerhouse-designed poster (above) for Jonathan Glazer‘s film Under the Skin heralded the arrival of a new trailer, which you can now see below. In fact there are two new trailers, a US edit, and a UK version, for the film in which Scarlett Johansson plays an alien who has taken human form in order to hunt her prey: men.
We’ve covered the film for ages, and it is finally about to see release in the US. These trailers are just as seductive as the other footage we’ve seen from the film — this isn’t a big effects-filled piece of sci-fi, but something a little more strange and possibly unique. Read More »

Nine years after Birth, Jonathan Glazer returned to the festival circuit last year with Under the Skin. The film features an intriguing hook — Scarlett Johansson plays a sexy alien who seduces men and then destroys them — and the results look even stranger and less commercial than that description suggests.
The latest trailer does a great job of conveying a creepy tone, even as it turns out to be less revealing than the promos that came before. But that’s how Glazer wants it, apparently. He cut the new preview himself. Check it out after the jump.

Jonathan Glazer‘s heady sci-fi film Under the Skin finally hit festivals in the past month, and made quite an impression thanks to the fact that Scarlett Johansson plays an alien with a less than healthy interest in human men.
Some of the films unusual tone comes from the fact that Glazer shot on real streets without telling people they were being filmed; some of the men Johansson interacts with didn’t know they were in the movie until afterward. Maybe you got a sense of the film’s strange character in the first teaser that hit not long ago, but you can get a better look now.

We’ve waited years to see Under the Skin, the newest film from Birth and Sexy Beast director Jonathan Glazer. Scarlett Johansson joined the project in 2010; she plays an alien who seduces her way to meals, with humans as her new primary food source.
The first image of Johansson in the film arrived in May of last year, and the movie is finally hitting the festival circuit. You can see a trippy and somewhat NSFW teaser below. Read More »
Scarlett Johansson had a quiet couple of years, with only Iron Man 2 and We Bought a Zoo hitting theaters in 2010 and 2011, respectively. But her profile is back up in the stratosphere thanks to The Avengers, and now a couple other productions she’s involved in are taking advangate of the attention lavished on Marvel’s big hit.
Here we’ve got two looks at Johansson in two very different movies. One is a film about the making of Psycho, in which she plays the actress Janet Leigh. The other is from Under the Skin, directed by Jonathan Glazer (Sexy Beast), in which Johansson plays an alien in human skin. Read More »
Cool Posts From Around the Web:
The American Film Market is great for announcements of crazy-sounding films that we might once see. We’ll have a great many of them over the next few days (and there’s a big post full of sales art and first-look stills coming up) but one of the biggest new projects right now is probably Under the Skin, to be directed by Jonathan Glazer (Sexy Beast) with Scarlett Johansson starring as “the perfect alien woman.” Read More »
Sexy Beast and Birth director Jonathan Glazer is working on a feature film adaptation of Michel Faber‘s sci-fi horror novel Under the Skin. It seems that aliens must be really hot with production execs right now as some of the most interesting upcoming projects seem to revolve around otherworldly thingimajigs, from Greg Mottola’s Paul, through Joe Cornish’s Attack the Block and on to this one which, according to Film4 is “a groundbreaking story about aliens in Scotland looking for human prey”.
Screen Daily reported on the film in 2005, when it was apparently on the fast track, and also again today. The new story gave fewer details than the last one, and it is entirely possible some of the details would have changed since then. At that time, however, Milo Addica had written the screenplay.
