Looks like Marvel Studios just hit another casting bullseye: the company’s Disney+ series Hawkeye has targeted Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit, Bumblebee) to play the MCU Kate Bishop. If the deal goes through, she’ll join Jeremy Renner and presumably take over as the MCU’s primary archer – because every good superhero team needs that person with a bow and arrow running around as the team’s X factor.

Yesterday, the internet collectively lost its mind over the news that Spider-Man may be leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Since then, we’ve gotten some updates about the story that makes the whole situation feel like more of an ongoing negotiation than a totally done deal, but still, people are very attached to this character and don’t want to see him cut off from the established ties to the MCU.

After playing significant roles in the two previous entries in the Mission: Impossible franchise, Jeremy Renner‘s intelligence analyst character William Brandt isn’t referenced or mentioned at all in Mission: Impossible – Fallout. We knew his scheduling requirements for the Avengers movies kept him on a short leash, but now writer/director Chris McQuarrie has revealed that Fallout nearly had a Jeremy Renner cameo in which Brandt was killed off. Joss Whedon and his crew spent plenty of time destroying the streets of Cleveland as the burg doubled for New York City, but sometimes there’s nothing like the real thing. Almost the full cast of The Avengers (Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Stellan Skarsgard and Mark Ruffalo) was filming at the Bethesda Fountain in Central Park in Manhattan Friday and some really great photos have come online.
