Well, it’s about bloody time. Jason Winer‘s remake of the classic Dudley Moore comedy Arthur, starring Russell Brand, Helen Mirren, Luis Guzman, Jennifer Garner and others is scheduled for release on April 8 but we hadn’t seen a trailer until now. The film is about a spoiled New York billionaire whose whole life has been set-up for him until he finally stands up to his parents and he’s forced to live without money. The hook here, I suppose, is that after a string of photos taken by photographers outside the production, we’ve now got the first ‘official’ look at Russell Brand and Helen Mirren in the remake of Arthur. Brand plays the Dudley Moore role — a rich, spoiled drunk — and Mirren takes over for John Gielgud as the butler-turned-nanny charged with looking after Arthur.
But beyond the photos are some new details that paint the production as a rather freewheeling one which, to my mind, makes it a slightly more interesting, and definitely more risky, proposition. Read More »
I’m not sure what your reaction was upon hearing that Arthur, the ‘classic’ ’80s tale of class, alcoholism and romance starring Dudley Moore and Liza Minelli, was being remade. Mine was something along the lines of “…why?”
