If you’re starting to wonder if Johnny Depp is picking all of his movies based on how ridiculous they let him look, Mortdecai won’t do much to dispel that notion. Depp leads the comedy caper as “debonair art dealer and part time rogue Charlie Mortdecai,” who’s tasked with tracking down a painting something something Nazi gold. It doesn’t really matter, because the whole movie is really just Depp’s excuse to sport a fake mustache/accent combo that rivals the one in Tusk. Watch the latest Mortdecai trailer after the jump.

To put it mildly, Johnny Depp is not exactly at a high point in his career. He hasn’t had a solid hit since the last Pirates of the Caribbean movie, and his last three starring roles were outright flops. But on the bright side, he’ll have plenty of opportunities to redeem himself in the near future.
One of those chances arrives next February in the form of a goofy comedy. Depp plays the title character in Mortdecai, a roguish art dealer racing to recover a stolen painting that could lead to Nazi gold. The first Mortdecai trailer has just been released, and you can watch it after the jump.

We don’t know how much you made in the past year, but it’s probably a safe bet that it’s a lot less than these ten Hollywood actresses did. Sandra Bullock tops the list with an impressive $51 million, but numbers 2-10 didn’t do too badly for themselves either. Can you guess who they are? Find out who the 2013 top earning actresses are after the jump.

In The Avengers, Mark Ruffalo played a seemingly mild-mannered man waging a constant internal battle against his predilection for anger. In the upcoming Thanks for Sharing, he plays a guy who’s a lot like that, only he’s fighting sex addition, not anger issues. And Pepper Potts — I’m sorry, Gwyneth Paltrow — is along for the ride.
Adam (Ruffalo) is five years sex-sober when he meets and falls for beautiful Phoebe (Paltrow). Encouraged by his pals at the sex-addiction group (including Tim Robbins), he pursues a relationship with her, struggling to maintain a healthy romance without spiraling into self-destructive behavior.
Thanks for Sharing was directed by The Kids Are All Right scribe Stuart Blumberg, so it’s no surprise that there’s a sweet, honest feel to the proceedings. Check out the new trailer after the jump.

The Lone Ranger was a low point for Johnny Depp, but the actor’s already brushed himself off and moved on. Wally Pfister’s Transcendence is shooting now, Rob Marshall’s Into the Woods enters production later this year, and he’s got David Koepp’s Mortdecai coming together after that.
The last film on that list got a nice shove forward last month when Depp started closing in on a formal deal after years of development. Now it’s picking up even more big names, as Gwyenth Paltrow and Ewan McGregor enter talks to co-star. Hit the jump for plot details and more.

Despite sharing a theme and a location — sex addiction and New York City, respectively — Stuart Blumberg‘s Thanks for Sharing couldn’t look more different from Steve McQueen’s Shame. Whereas the latter was a dark, depressing portrayal of one man’s downward spiral, the former looks like a lighter, more hopeful affair about a group of sufferers helping each other get better.
One of the afflicted is Adam (Mark Ruffalo), an environmental consultant tentatively wading back into the dating pool after five years sober. He quickly meets Phoebe (Gwyneth Paltrow), a pretty foodie with issues of her own. Tim Robbins, Josh Gad, and Alecia Moore (you probably know her as Pink) play other members of Adam’s support group, and Joely Richardson and Patrick Fugit round out the cast. LOL: Spocko Interviews The ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ Cast, Italian Iron Man Interviews ‘Iron Man 3’ Cast

At movie junkets, the cast and crew of movies sit in a chair all day while hundreds of interviewers rotate in, most asking the same exact questions. The result is that the talent begin repeating the same soundbites over and over again. So much so that it almost becomes a script. Sometimes you go into one of these rooms, asking a different question that no one else has asked, and the tired actor might just try to find a way to work one of the dozen now-scripted soundbites as the answer, never really touching on your question. I always try to ask questions that aren’t asked by other journalists, but I try to stay away from the tv interview set-ups as they create an environment of recycled soundbite with not enough time to delve into any real substance.
But I do enjoy watching the tv interviews from the few journalists that find a way to keep the talent on their feet, and out of the soundbite zone. Daniele Rizzo is a German comedian who we’ve featured on the site in the past, usually working fun sketch interviews in at international film junkets. This time around Rizzo has shown up at the Star Trek Into Darkness junket as “Spocko” to grill both cast and crew on the details of their missions. He also showed up at the Iron Man 3 junket to ask Robert Downey Jr & Gwyneth Paltrow the important questions in full costume as Italian Iron Man. He may not get any serious answers or scoops, but its fun to watch.

Much like Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow‘s contract with Marvel ends with next week’s Iron Man 3. Everyone assumes Downey will be back for at least The Avengers 2, and probably Iron Man 4, but nothing is set in stone. Now Paltrow has put those assumptions up for serious debate with a quote where she says she doesn’t believe Iron Man 4 will happen. Read it below. Read More »
