We see a lot of year-end movie mashups, but for a couple years running some of the best have been from LA-based editor Gen Ip, who we talked to back in 2010.
For Filmography 2013, she’s put together a seven-minute edit of scenes from 2013 films, organized around a core group of themes. Plenty of other people have done similar projects, but this one is a bit more gentle than some. It still relies on a lot of trailer moments, but there’s an almost narrative thematic sense here, together with a spot-on rhythmic sense that incorporates dialogue in a catchy manner that does more of the heavy emotional lifting than the music does.
