It’s A Wonderful Life is a classic that families watch together during the holiday season, especially on Christmas Eve when NBC airs it every year. But this year, Frank Capra‘s beloved 1946 film will get a bit of a makeover courtesy of a charity table read put together for The Ed Asner Family Center, which promotes mental health and enrichment programs to special needs children and their families.
Saturday Night Live cast member Pete Davidson has been tapped to take the lead role of George Bailey, famously portrayed by the legendary Jimmy Stewart. Joining the comedian will be his King of Staten Island co-star Maude Apatow as Violet Bick, as well as an impressive all-star ensemble to flesh out the rest of the cast. Get the details about the It’s A Wonderful Life table read below. Read More »

This fall’s best comedy may be one that’s skipping theaters altogether. Last year Netflix scooped up Christopher Guest‘s Mascots for release, and today it’s revealed the first full-length trailer. The premise is certainly unusual — the film follows a bunch of sports mascots competing for the Golden Fluffy award — but otherwise this looks like a typical Guest movie. Which is to say it’s a mockumentary that looks hilarious in a dry sort of way, full of oblivious oddballs that somehow still come across as strangely lovable.
Mascots also brings back many of Guest’s usual favorite actors including Parker Posey, Jane Lynch, Ed Begley Jr., Fred Willard, Jennifer Coolidge, and Bob Balaban. They’re joined by some newer additions including Chris O’Dowd, Sarah Baker, Zach Woods, and Tom Bennett (the comedic breakout of Whit Stillman’s Love & Friendship). Watch the Mascots trailer below. Over the past few years, Netflix has built up a TV slate to rival any of its competitors’, serving up everything from ground-level superheroes to depressed horse-men and receiving showers of prestigious awards and critical praise in return. The service isn’t quite there yet with its original movie offerings, but a quick glance at their upcoming calendar suggests that could very well change in the near future. One of their most promising upcoming releases? Mascots, the new comedy from Best in Show and A Mighty Wind director Christopher Guest.
Netflix first announced its deal to acquire Mascots almost exactly one year ago, in August 2015. Today the very first teaser trailer has arrived, bearing a fall 2016 release date. Check out the Mascots teaser, and pore over the first Mascots poster, after the jump. Read More »

The first season of Better Call Saul ended with some major shakeups to Jimmy’s closest relationships, and season two will see him meeting even more people to help or hinder him on his way to becoming Saul Goodman. One key new figure will be Clifford, a friendly-seeming power player to be played by Ed Begley Jr. Meanwhile, Aaron Paul is teasing another important encounter that may or may not be on the horizon for Jimmy — his first encounter with Paul’s Breaking Bad character Jesse Pinkman. With a title like Muhammad Ali’s Greatest Fight, you’d think it’d be safe to assume HBO Films’ upcoming release was a sports film. But no, Stephen Frears‘ drama follows Ali’s historic Supreme Court battle to stay out of the Vietnam War.
Ali was drafted in the ’60s but refused to go, citing his religion and declaring himself a conscientious objector. As a consequence, he was convicted of draft evasion and stripped of his title and boxing license. He appealed the conviction all the way to the Supreme Court, which is where Muhammad Ali’s Greatest Fight picks up.
Christopher Plummer, Frank Langella, and Danny Glover portray some of the Supreme Court justices. Interestingly, Ali himself isn’t played by an actor — he appears only archival footage. Watch the new trailer after the jump.
