Filming on X-Men: Dark Phoenix is currently underway, but one of the superhero film’s characters is still shrouded in mystery. Actor Daniel Cudmore, who played the super-strong Russian mutant Colossus in X2, X-Men: The Last Stand, and X-Men: Days of Future Past, has revealed that he is also a part of the upcoming sequel, but he didn’t confirm whether or not he’s playing Colossus or an entirely different character. The Deadpool movie will basically ignore the existence of the first solo Wolverine movie, but the new film won’t forget the character’s roots in Marvel Comics stories featuring mutant characters. Ryan Reynolds is again playing Deadpool, and now he’ll be joined by Gina Carano, who’ll turn up in the film as Angel Dust, a mutant character who has been part of the Morlocks in Marvel Comics stories. How much bigger can X-Men: Days of Future Past cast possibly get? As the film approaches its spring start, Bryan Singer is scrambling to add still more characters to the already sprawling lineup. Not that we’re complaining.
The latest original trilogy actor set to return is Daniel Cudmore, who played Peter Rasputin a.k.a. Colossus in X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand. Meanwhile, it looks like Chinese actress Fan Bingbing and Twilight actor Booboo Stewart will get in on the superpowered fun as well. Hit the jump to read more.

In a casting break from a week or so back we announced quite a few names for The Baytown Disco, which has Billy Bob Thornton and Eva Longoria starring in a story of ” three redneck brothers who get more than they bargained for when agreeing to help a woman get her son back from his seemingly abusive father.”
Daniel Cudmore and Travis Fimmel were just cast as two of those brothers; the previously cast Clayne Crawford will be the third. Andrew Barugher has also been added, but we don’t know for what role. Barry Battles co-write the script with Griffin Hood, and he’ll direct the film in Lousiana starting next week. [THR]
