bad times at the el royale trailer

After making a splashy directorial debut with the subversive horror film The Cabin in the Woods, not much had been heard from Drew Goddard. The longtime Joss Whedon collaborator dabbled in TV (Daredevil), and wrote some Oscar-nominated screenplays (The Martian), but he didn’t yet give fans what they wanted: his second feature film. Now, six years later, he finally unleashes Bad Times at the El Royale, and boy, does it looks like he’ll deliver.

Reuniting with his Cabin in the Woods star Chris Hemsworth, Goddard gives us a deliciously sinister horror-tinged noir, which follows a group of seven strangers who are about to experience a night of unsuspected mayhem at a strange, rundown hotel. You can watch the new red band trailer (and a tamer green band version) below.

And it’s also worlds removed from Dario Argento‘s original. Let’s examine how.

Bad Times at the El Royale cast

It’s been almost six years since filmmaker Drew Goddard made his directorial debut with the unexpectedly brilliant horror comedy The Cabin in the Woods, and while he’s worked consistently since then as a writer, he has yet to step behind the camera to direct another feature film. That changes this year with Bad Times at the El Royale, a mysterious thriller that stars Chris Hemsworth and Jeff Bridges.

As if that cast weren’t already intriguing enough, Goddard has just added two more top notch actors to his new film’s roster. Learn about the newest additions to the Bad Times at the El Royale cast below.

fifty shades freed trailer

Mr. and Mrs. Grey will see you now, and it definitely is not for a threesome.

But speaking of threesomes, the Fifty Shades of Grey series has reached its final and third installment, wrapping up the kinky and borderline abusive tale of love in the time of BDSM. Fifty Shades Freed follows Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) and Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) after they pledge to love and honor each other in sickness and in health. fifty shades freed

If there’s any proof that fan fiction has power, it’s the mystifying success of the Fifty Shades of Grey series. Its two leads have been launched into stardom (at least, Dakota Johnson kind of has), the movie soundtracks have jumped to the top of music charts, and there’s now a third and final film to close out this BDSM-tinged tale.

Not bad for a passably-written fan-fiction of the Twilight series.

Fifty Shades Darker Honest Trailer

The phenomenon that was the Fifty Shades of Grey book series doesn’t seem to be faring quite as well as a film franchise, at least not with all the readers who touched themselves while reading this book written by a Twilight fan fiction writer. Though the first film was a massive success that pulled in over $571 million worldwide, the sequel Fifty Shades Darker made significantly less with just $378 million raked in at the global box office.

Basically, once viewers saw that most of the kinky sex didn’t make the cut in the first movie, plenty of them lost interest. And once you watch the Honest Trailer for the sequel, it’s not hard to see why. This movie is decidedly not sexy, no matter how hard it tries to be, and it feels more like some kind of joke than a legitimate erotic romance. Is this really the kind of stuff that turned on millions of women around the world?

Fifty Shades Darker Trailer

Sequels to romances are few and far between, but Fifty Shades of Grey isn’t your average romance. Based on E.L. James‘ erotic thriller of the same name, the film adaptation was a box office sensation pulling in over $571 million on a budget of just $41 million. However, the sequel Fifty Shades Darker isn’t just a result of the big box office, because there was a whole trilogy of books before the first movie even got off the ground.

Now a new Fifty Shades Darker trailer has arrived, playing to its prime target audience during the premiere of The Bachelor last night. The new trailer shows the next chapter of the romance between Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) and Ana Steele (Dakota Johnson), and it appears things are not only going to get kinky again, but also deadly.
