There’s a new Transporter series in production. The picture being made now is called Transporter Legacy and stars Ed Skrein as the character originated by Jason Statham in 2002. Game of Thrones fans will recognize Skrein as the original actor who played the mercenary Daario Naharis in the series’ third season. In fact, this new Transporter series is the reason Skrein dropped out of Game of Thrones.
The new film is planned as the first chapter in a new trilogy. Luc Besson’s company EuropaCorp is behind the new series (the company also made the original films) and a deal is in place with Relativity Media to release the film and theoretical sequels in the US. Read More »
This second Brick Mansions trailer, for the the Banlieue 13 remake that is also one of the late Paul Walker’s final films, relies on a moody cover of ‘Stand by Me’ to give it a little oomph. Not that the trailer really needs it, as the action (also featuring RZA and original B13 star and parkour pioneer David Belle) looks to be pretty hard-hitting and high-flying.
Luc Besson, who produced the original, scripted this remake, which opens in April. Watch the trailer below. Read More »

Shortly before his death in November, Paul Walker wrapped shooting on Camille Delamarre‘s Brick Mansions. The film is now headed for an April release, and the first trailer has just landed.
A remake of the French thriller Banlieue 13 (known in the U.S. as District B13), Brick Mansions features Walker as an undercover cop who must team with an ex-con (David Belle) to take on a drug kingpin (RZA) in the most dangerous tenement in a dystopian Detroit. It looks a little like what might happen if Brian O’Connor was dropped into Dredd or The Raid. Watch the video after the jump.

Part of the formula that made the original Transporter films work was the mystique of main character Frank Martin. Played by Jason Statham, this was a man with no moral compass, who drove and killed people as long as he was properly compensated. Over the course of three films, we definitely learned more about what made him tick but with Statham leaving the franchise, producers decided to look back for the sequels.
Last week, news broke that Transporter 4 would start a new trilogy focused on Martin’s past. That makes it a prequel, which means they’d need a new, younger version of Statham. And they’ve found just that. Ed Skrein, who plays Daario Naharis on Game of Thrones, will be playing Frank Martin in the fourth film and beyond. Read More »
