Who wants to see William Adama kill some frakkin’ toasters this week? Entertainment Weekly is reporting that the Battlestar Galactica prequel series, Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chromewill make its world premiere online this Friday on Machnima. The show follows a young William Adama (Luke Pasqualino, above) as a Viper pilot on the battlestar Galactica during the first Cylon war. Edward James Olmos played the elder version of the character on the recent TV show.

SyFy originally put the show into production as a pilot but it wasn’t picked up. It now exists as a two hour movie which’ll be released online in 7-12 minute segments via Machinma Prime over the next month, followed by a full airing on SyFy in 2013 and an unrated release on Blu-ray after that.

After the jump, check out the trailer for the show (which is pretty much the same as the one we posted in March, only an official release with finished effects) and get a bit more info about it. Read More »

The fortunes of Blood and Chrome, the prequel to the revamped Battlestar Galactica, have risen and fallen over the past couple years. Planned at various times as a TV movie, a possible pilot for a new BSG series, and a web series, Blood and Chrome was conceived as an action-oriented project with most of the footage shot against greenscreen, composited with CG reconstructions of BSG sets that were scanned before the end of the show’s fourth season. While the show was announced in late 2010, we still don’t really know what’s up with the plans to air the show at this point.

What we do know is that there is now a trailer for the story of a young William Adama as he fights in the first Cylon war. And while the trailer does nothing to tell us whether the script, acting or characters are any good, it looks very, very cool. Check it out below.

Update: Turns out the trailer wasn’t quite official and has been pulled. And Syfy confirmed to EW that while the network will give the pilot a TV airing in the future, at some point, the plans for Blood and Chrome are web-based at best. So no new TV series for now.

Concept Art: Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome

In October it was revealed that the Syfy network greenlit a two hour pilot called Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome which would follow a young William Adama as a Viper pilot on the Battlestar Galactica during the first Cylon war. Adama is a legendary military leader, in the 2004 series portrayed by Edward James Olmos, tasked with helping the human race survive after the enemy Cylons destroy their home.

Today we get our first look at the upcoming series, thanks to a series of concept artwork released on the Syfy website. Executive producer David Eick is at the controls of the new series, with the plan being to present a more action-packed storyline than the now canceled Caprica prequel show. And the new concept art definitely looks exciting. I can’t wait to see what it will look like in live-action. Hit the jump to see some of the concept artwork.

We already have one Battlestar Galactica prequel series and we soon could be getting a new one. The Syfy network just greenlit a two hour pilot called Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome which will follow a young William Adama as a Viper pilot on the battlestar Galactica during the first Cylon war. So, unlike the other BSG prequel series Caprica, Blood & Chrome will focus  more of the action that was prevalent in the reimagined 2004 series that ran for four seasons. Adama, as BSG fans know, was one of the main characters on that show. Portrayed by Edward James Olmos, he’s a legendary military leader who helps the human race survive after the enemy Cylons destroy their home. The new series will see the return of executive producer David Eick, but not show creator Ron Moore. We’ve got much more after the jump. Read More »
