Marrowbone Trailer

Director J.A. Bayona brought some chills and thrills with The Orphanage back in 2007, but he had some help from screenwriter Sergio G. Sánchez. Now the scribe is behind both the script and the camera for a new rural haunted house thriller executive produced by Bayona.

Marrowbone follows a family who has escaped from an abusive father in Britain to the safe harbor of a small cottage in America known as the old Marrowbone house. After tragedy befalls the mother, the four children (George McKay, Mia Goth, Charlie Heaton and Mattthew Stagg) must fend for themselves while not letting anyone else in the vicinity know about their family’s loss. But as the Marrowbone trailer shows, the family has another more pressing concern as the kids learn they’re not the only ones living in the old house. Read More »

thoroughbreds trailer

Nothing can bring together two teenage psychopaths like plotting to murder step-daddy dearest, as stars Anya Taylor-Joy and Olivia Cooke show in the new darkly comic Thoroughbreds trailer.

The second trailer for the festival favorite, which has garnered interest partially because it features the late Anton Yelchin in one of his final roles, doubles down on its Heathers-meets-American Psycho trappings, featuring the two former childhood friends go from exchanging razor-sharp witticisms to delivering cold-blooded threats at the drop of a penny.

new mutants horror movie

Every time a comic book movie director claims that his movie will be “very different” from other superhero movies, an angel loses its wings and gains heat vision.

But New Mutants director Josh Boone swears that his X-Men spin-off will forego all those costumes and supervillains, and go “full-fledged horror movie” instead — because horror is the new trend now. To be fair, the source material for New Mutants, the 1984 Marvel Comics storyline “The Demon Bear Saga,” lends itself to the horror genre, and we are already greatly anticipating the spinoff film anyway with the casting of Game of ThronesMaisie Williams and Split‘s Anya Taylor-Joy. But Boone wants you to know that New Mutants isn’t like other X-Men films.

Even if you ignore the brilliant Legion on FX (and you most certainly should not), Logan and Deadpool suggest a wild and exciting path ahead for the mutant superheroes. Hopefully, the upcoming New Mutants movie continues the trend.

It certainly helps that two very talented young women have officially joined the cast: Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams and Split‘s Anya Taylor-Joy have signed up for Josh Boone’s movie, which is due out next year.
