2020 Golden Globes Winners

The 78th annual Golden Globes Awards unfolded virtually on Sunday night, hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Though the questionable behavior of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association overshadowed the ceremony a bit, fans were still interested to see who walks home with a trophy from this year’s impressive assembly of films and TV shows.

2021 golden globe nominations

The 2021 awards season is getting off to a belated start amid the ongoing pandemic, but the show must go on. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, made up of approximately 90 journalists from around the world, revealed their picks for the best of film and TV in 2020 for the 78th annual Golden Globes Awards ceremony that will be hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.

Leading the 2021 Golden Globes nominations is MankDavid Fincher‘s black-and-white ode to Old Hollywood, with six nods in most of the major categories, including Best Picture – Drama, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Screenplay. Closely trailing is Aaron Sorkin‘s Trial of the Chicago 7, while Nomadland and Promising Young Woman also collected multiple nominations. But notably missing from the nominees is Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods, which was snubbed around the board.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler Hosting the Golden Globes

At the Golden Globes last weekend, host Ricky Gervais kept talking about how this was the last time he would be on stage for the awards ceremony, and he didn’t care about it at all. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has taken him at his word, and next year they’ll bring back two talents who have proven to be much more beloved in their hosting duties.

The Saturday Night Live dynamic duo of Amy Poehler and Tina Fey will be returning to host the 78th Golden Globes for the 2021 ceremony.
