Sundance 2011 First Look: John C. Reilly In 'Terri'

When John C. Reilly is in a movie, it's a given that his character is going to be likable. That's the quality Reilly brings to each role he plays, he's always the kind of guy you'd want to hang out with. Unless, of course, he's your high school vice principal. In Terri, directed by Azazel Jacobs and written by Patrick deWitt, Reilly plays a vice principal who develops an unlikely friendship with the title character, played by Jacob Wysocki, who is regularly teased and ridiculed. Terri will have its world premiere in competition at the Sundance Film Festival next month and now you can see a few photos from the film after the jump.

Here are the photos from Terri.

The other actor in the photos is Jacob Wysocki who plays Terri. He's best know for a role on the short lived ABC Family show Huge, which starred Nikki Blonsky from Hairspray.

Here's the plot description of the film from the Sundance page.

Director Azazel Jacobs (Momma's Man) returns to Sundance with a tale that will speak to anyone who has ever felt insecure or misunderstood. In other words . . . everyone. Orphaned to an uncle who is ailing, mercilessly teased by his peers, and roundly ignored by his jaded teachers, Terri finds himself alienated and alone. But when the dreaded vice principal, Mr. Fitzgerald, sees a bit of himself in the boy, they establish a friendship that encourages Terri to consider the possibility that life is something to be shared, even enjoyed, not just endured. Wonderfully enacted, perceptive, and honest, Terri perfectly captures the lonely life of an outcast. But we don't pity or laugh at him; we relate to him. Remaining true to himself in the face of adversity, Terri becomes an unlikely hero. Filled with heart and humor, Terri is a comedy about feeling alone, and discovering there are others who feel the same way.

Finally, here's a video of the director Jacobs as part of the Sundance Meet the Artist series.

We'll be all over Sundance when it starts in two weeks so be sure to check back to read about this film and all the others playing the festival.
