Young Kurt Russell Appeared In Gunsmoke Years Before Tombstone
By JOE ROBERTS
Before his memorable performance as Wyatt Earp in the 1993 Western "Tombstone," Kurt Russell had already ventured into the genre with the classic television series "Gunsmoke."
At just 12 years old, Russell first appeared in the 1964 episode "Blue Heaven," in which he portrayed Packy Kerlin, a runaway boy who teams up with a wanted man, Kip Gilman.
The plot revolves around their journey to Dodge City in search of Packy's estranged mother, Elena Kerlin. This quest ultimately culminates in a dramatic and climactic gunfight.
A decade later, Russell returned to the show in the 1974 episode "Trail of Bloodshed." This time, he played Buck Henry Woolfe, a young man seeking revenge for his father's murder.
