Season 2 of “Yellowjackets.”
While cannibalism has been teased since the pilot episode, Season 2, Episode 2 of “Yellowjackets” showed the first instance of the survivors partaking in the taboo act.
The girls and Travis devour Jackie’s body after it’s cooked on the pyre; however, Coach Ben is the only one among them who doesn’t and turns away from the scene in horror.
Steven Krueger, who plays Ben, explained his character is already separated from the others as the only adult to survive the crash, and it’s his responsibility to guide them.
The actor added that through this act of cannibalism Ben “completely loses control over everybody else, and I think that’s the most haunting thing for him.”
Krueger elaborated on why Ben didn’t join in: “He sees this transformation take place on their faces and in their behavior [...] He's immediately repulsed.”
The actor shared that Ben might be in danger for not joining the feast and may ultimately end up on the menu, as he represents the last symbol of civilization.
